KUL Airport Overview
Kuala Lumpur International Airport KUL is located on the Malay Peninsula in the Sepang District, and is 50 km from the City of Kuala Lumpur, the Capital of Malaysia.
From the air, the Airport looks like a futuristic structure hidden in a remote jungle. The abundant forest areas surrounding the airport are slowly being transformed into an environmental park containing recreational facilities (the Formula One racetrack being one of them), and eventually a golf course within the limits of the airport reserve.
Kuala Lumpur Airport is one of Asia's major aviation hubs. Since its inauguration in 1998, it has won numerous awards from international organizations, and it has emerged as one of the top five airports in the world. The Airport's commitment to environmental responsibility was recognized by Green Globe, which bestowed it the Green Globe 21 certificate every year from 2004 onwards.
The 80-room Airside Transit Hotel is situated within the Satellite Building, providing a welcome respite for the travel-weary transit passengers. Within a 5-minute walking distance is the The Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur International Airport, a 5-star hotel with nearly 450 rooms, offering style and luxury.
The airport was designed and built to be an efficient, competitive and world-class hub for the Asia-Pacific Region and aims at providing maximum passenger safety, comfort and convenience. It is considered unique because it has within its boundaries all that is needed for business, entertainment and relaxation and considers itself a piece of art.
