Acapulco Alvarez International Airport ACA is one of Mexico's much sought-after destination for millions of sun-seekers yearly from the United States and Canada. Situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Tres Palos Lagoon, it is the largest Airport in Mexico's southern Pacific region. ACA Airport is undergoing continuous improvements and renovations and offers modern facilities.
The Airport is located 26 km from downtown Acapulco, in the State of Guerrero, Mexico.
With two runways and 486,268 passengers in 2012 (down from its high of 818 671 in 2008), Alvarez International Airport is served by a number of major commercial airlines, as well as by seasonal charters. Its domestic airlines serve the larger cities of Mexico.
The passenger terminal at Acapulco Alvarez Airport includes all the amenities you expect from a first-class airport: Shops and duty-free stores, food & drink establishments, a VIP lounge, a business center, ATMs, currency exchange, baggage wrapping, rental car agencies, ground transportation operators, as well as an immigration and customs service. Club Regina Villavera, Mayan Resort International and Mayan Resort National have service desks on the lower level of the terminal. The upper level has access to gates 1 through 6.
Parking options at Acapulco Airport include short- and long-term parking near the passenger terminal. Parking fees must be paid in Mexican pesos, at the automated payment machine in the parking lot exit. Handicapped parking is available.
To get from Acapulco Alvarez Airport to your destination, you can rent a car (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz & Thrifty), take a taxi, a hotel shuttle, or one of the many shuttle buses to the City. Air taxi service to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is provided by Blue Coast Aviation.
