Still have to go through passport controApr 29, 201310thanks for the response. It is a relief not to worry about the luggage, I assume we still have to go through passport control. Is 1 hr transfer time sufficient?uneasyposted on Mon, Apr 29[ Reply ][ Like ]

Can I leave AMS with a 4 hour layover?Oct 17, 201211My first flight is from RDU (USA) to BLL (Denmark) and I have a 4 hour layover. Am I allowed to leave the airport during my layover? If yes, how much time to I need to be there before my next flight? I am carrying my luggage (not checking any), so if I leave the airport will I have to go through customs or just security? Also, On the way home (from NBO (Nairobi) to RDU (USA)) I have a 1 hour layover in AMS. Is that enough time to catch my next plane? Thanks!Katrinposted on Wed, Oct 171 person likes this post [ Like ]Your itinerary seems to be: departing RDU to BLL, to AMS, to NBO - if so, you need to go through Danish immigration procedure, as you are an international arrival there. While Billund Airport is only 2 miles from the city, once you leave the secured area, you will have to go through security check on re-entering the terminal. Billund has a King Amlet Lounge - passengers on scheduled flights can use it at a fee. For Amsterdam Airport I strongly recommend that you open www.ifly.com/ams and click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS, then scroll down to the detailed text for terminals, airlines & connections. As to "not checking any luggage" - you are only allowed a carry-on bag which will either fit under your legs or in the overhead compartment of your plane. Anything else needs to be checked in. Check with your airlines for baggage charges for each piece of luggage, size and weight.weoct12posted on Wed, Oct 17
