  • Indonesia to Amsterdam to Barcelona
    Nov 17, 2014
Hello, I will taking a flight from Indonesia to Amsterdam and arrived at 09.20. Then, I will fly to Barcelona at 14.00 (different airlines). Do I need to go through custom twice? (First-when arrived in schipol, Second-when leaving schipol to barcelona). Will 4 hours enough for me? Many thanks!

  • TRF to AMS to BCN transfer time
    Nov 16, 2014
I'm travelling from Sandefjord to Barcelona. My KLM flight from Sandefjord arrives at 8:15 AM in Amsterdam and my connecting flight to Barcelona is with Vueling departing at 10:05. I also have a checked in luggage. Is this enough time or will I miss my flight to Barcelona?

If you purchased both flights on one ticket your bag will automatically be transferred - if not, you would need to claim your bag & re-check it in with Vueling (contact KLM if they will transfer - as the two airlines do not belong to the same Alliance). Presuming that Norway is a Schengen country, you may proceed to your connecting gate. In both cases your transfer time should suffice.

  • From Bucharest to Seattle & From Amsterdam to London
    Nov 7, 2014
Hello, My mother is taking a flight from Bucharest to Seattle with a layover in Schiphol of several hours. I will have at the same time a flight from Amsterdam Schiphol to London. I see that there are two areas - Schengen and non-Schengen. Does that mean that we will be able to meet in the airport or are there any passport control in between? Thank you so much!

  • Connecting flight at AMS
    Oct 19, 2014
Hi, I am going to be catching a connecting flight to Cologne this December, from Amsterdam Schipol. I have a layover time of 1 hour exactly, flying with KLM. Last time I flew with KLM I had a layover of 55 mins and, whilst I caught my flight, my luggage didn't. I am worried that this will happen again. Was this just bad luck or is 1 hour likely to lead to delayed baggage? I am concerned that Christmas is a busy time of year and wouldn't want to ruin my trip away. Thanks

If worried about your baggage arriving safely, maybe you would consider one of the pre-shipping services (FedEx, etc.) - saving you anxiety & cutting time spent at the customs line.

  • Atlanta to Delhi Via AMS layover just 1 hr
    Oct 18, 2014
I am traveling from Atlanta in KL0622 to Delhi (India) via AMS, layover time for my connecting flight from AMS to Delhi KL0871 is just 1 hour, am i gonna make it through security check and catch my flight within this time ? Do i have to collect my bags in AMS ?

You don't have to do anything with your bags in AMS. You should have enough time for your connection

  • Fukuoka-Schiphol-Manchester-50minutes
    Oct 17, 2014
Hi, I am bit confused. As I am travelling from Fukuoka to Manchester through Schiphol, i have 50 minutes transit time. Will i have to go through passport control area? and, will the transit time be enough?

Since you will not be entering the Schengen Area you do not have to go through passport control in Amsterdam. All you will have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security. You should have enough time.

Thank you!! that ease my worry

  • Singapore Airlines E gate to Easyjet H Gate
    Oct 13, 2014
How much time will I need to transfer from Singapore airlines to Easyjet 25 June 2015 and will I need to clear customs?

Where are you flying Easyjet to? Since it will be two separate tickets, I would allow at LEAST 2 hours for transfer.

  • 20 hr delay in Amsterdam, do I need visa??
    Jul 16, 2014
I will be arriving in AMS and have a 20 hr delay and I will be taking a hotel room near the airport. Do I need to pick up my luggage and also get a visa to enter Amsterdam? I am a US citizen and flying KLM throughout the entire flight.

US Citizens do not need a visa to visit the Netherlands. But yes, you will have to pick up your luggage and re-check it the next day.

  • What to do with baggage?
    Jan 13, 2014
We have an 11 hour layover in AMS. Do I claim my luggage between connecting flights? If I want to tour a bit what do I do with my luggage? Is there a place to store the bags in the airport? How much time do I need to allow in the airport to make my connecting flight (9pm)

Where are you coming from and where are you going? Did you buy all your tickets together or separately?

We are coming from LAX to TLV. We are flying KLM the whole way. The tickets were purchased in 1 transaction

You will not have to claim your baggage in Amsterdam. Here is a good description of what to do during your layover:

  • Still have to go through passport contro
    Apr 29, 2013
thanks for the response. It is a relief not to worry about the luggage, I assume we still have to go through passport control. Is 1 hr transfer time sufficient?

Italy and the Netherlands are both in Schengen so there is no passport control when you go between them. There will just be security at the gate.
