  • Seattle to Amsterdam to Capetown
    Feb 19, 2017
Hi! I'm flying from Seattle to Capetown via Delta. I have 1 hour and 40 minutes to connect at AMS - and my AMS flight is operated by KLM. On the way back, I travel from Capetown to Seattle and connect at AMS with 2 1/2 hours operated by Air France. Do I need to re-check baggage or do anything for any of these flights? Do they both offer enough time for me to connect?

Yes, that is enough time. On the way to Cape Town all you have to do is go from your arrival gate and on the way back all you have to do is go through Security, US Security Questions, and to your departure gate. You have enough time.

So are you saying on the way to Capetown, we just go straight from arrival gate to our departure gate? On the way back, we don't need to deal with luggage, but will need to go through security?

    That is correct.

    Thank you so much!

  • Glasgow Amsterdam Sao Paulo 50 min
    Feb 17, 2017
Hello, I have a flight from Glasgow to Amsterdam to Sao Paulo with only 50 mins connection. Is this enough? My main concern is that I will be arriving in Amsterdam at 08:45 am which is pretty busy Id imagine

All you have to do in Amsterdam is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate since you are not entering the Schengen Area.

  • connecting time

I am flying from paris to mexico but I have a stop of 1,35 hr in schipol airport. Is that enough time to change planes in order to make it on time?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is go through Schengen Exit Passport Control and to your departure gate.

  • Transit from DL to KLM going to JRO
    Feb 15, 2017
Do you have to go through passport control or any additional security when arriving on Delta from US and connecting to KLM to JRO? I have 1h 40min

No, all you have to do on your way to Kilimanjaro is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

I'm coming from the US to Amsterdam to connect to Rome. It says I have 1 hour 50 minutes. Is that enough time to catch flight to ro e

Yes, that should be enough time if both flights are on Delta/KLM/Alitalia

I am flying from Naples to Amsterdam and I have 1h35min to connect to another flight for New York, all with Delta. Is 1h35 min enough in Schipol? I will have a big luggage that will be transferred directly to the second flight. Thank you!

    Yes, that is enough time.

  • Transiting from US to India
    Feb 8, 2017
I am leaving from US and will have to change plane in AMS. Do i need a visa. I am a Indian citizen. Also my us visa which was stamped has expired and I have a petition only.

Since your US visa is expired you will need a Schengen Airport Transit Visa.

  • GVA-AMS on KLM//AMS-SEA in Icelandic
    Feb 8, 2017
No a "check-out" and check-in @ Icelandic required or can it be done 'inside' eg, concourse C?

You can just get your Icelandair boarding passes at the Icelandair transfer desk.

  • Transfer from International to Domestic
    Feb 9, 2017
I am arriving at Schipol from US on United. Have to then get to KLM commuter to Bergen. Is there an easy way to get from international arrival to domestic outbound? Do I have to collect luggage and recheck ? I have 2.5 hrs to do this but don't know how. Thanks

You will have to go through Schengen Entry Passport control, claim your bags, re-check them with KLM, and go through security. You have just enough time.

Thanks ! Do I have to take ground transport to get to domestic terminal? Like a shuttle ? Do you know if it it is well marked ? I am stressed !!!

  • Icelandair to KLM
    Feb 8, 2017
Flying from Canada to Iceland. Staying 3days in Iceland. Then flying Icelandair to AMS arriving at 12:40. Taking flight on KLM at this enough time with checked baggage? Do I have to get my baggage.? Two separate bookings.

Forgot to mention flying to Prague from AMS.

Yes, that is enough time. Yes, you will have to transfer your bags yourself between airlines.

  • Salt Lake City to Berlin via AMS
    Feb 8, 2017
Delta flight from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam with a 75 minute layover between the next flight to Berlin. Is there sufficient time and any idea which concourse the connecting flight departs from? Looks like I'm arriving at Concourse D43. I presume that I will need to go through passport control, but what about security?

I have a similar question -- If we are flying KLM (via Delta booking) from ATL to AMS and catching a connection to CPH, it appears we will need to go through passport control? Does that entail retrieving checked bags and rechecking them? We are a family of 5, so that will be a hassle and would not want to set a connection that rushes it. Thanks.

You don't have to do anything with your bags. You both should have enough time.

  • Athens to AMS to Salt Lake City
    Feb 3, 2017
First time flying in Europe and traveling with my 10 year old. Thinking of booking my flight home from Athens through AMS to Salt Lake City with a 1.5 hour layover in AMS. Wondering about the procedure and if this is enough time in AMS. Flying Delta. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Worried - not flown for 40 years. Just 50min to make transfer.
    Feb 11, 2017
Arriving from Aberdeen, UK (KLM flight) and have to make connection in 50 min for Toulouse, France (KLM also). Please could you tell me what the procedure is? Do I need to go through passport control and other checks? Would it take long to walk to my connecting flight please? Are there trolleys available on arrival also? Be grateful for any advice.

You just go through passport control. You have just enough time. you don't need a "trolley".

Thank you for your advice. I thought that I would have to go through Security as I was coming from the UK (non -Schengen) going on to France (Schengen) and that would have taken longer. But I am relieved that you say I only need to go through passport control.

  • time allowance for airline carrier change including luggage
    Feb 2, 2017
Question: If we arrive AMS @ 8:30am and have to collect our luggage and then checking in with Scandinavian Airlines for a separate flight how much time should we allow to make that connection?

Where are you flying into Amsterdam from?

I would want at least 2.5 hours, preferably closer to 3.

Thank you. By any chance do you know the routine? I'm thinking we have to go to baggage which means outside of security. Then, collect our bags and go back through security & find our gate. Is there more we should know/understand?

  • 50 minute connection
    Feb 2, 2017
In June, I'll be taking a trip fro the US to Kenya. I'm not concerned about my layover on the way there, but it's only a 50 minute layover in AMS on the way home. I'm flying KLM airlines from Tanzania (DAR) to AMS then have to catch my Delta flight to Atlanta which departs 50 minutes after my arrival at AMS. Is that enough time? I'll have 1 checked bag and 1 carry on. Am I considered "transit" or do I have to re-check my baggage? This is my first overseas flight, and I'm traveling alone, so I'm a little nervous. Thanks!

You do not have to re-check your bags. You will just go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if the flight from Tanzania is on-time.

I feel like I'm asking essentially what several others have, but I'm curious about where I can expect to go when I arrive from ATL to make my connection to CWL. I arrive at AMS 8:15AM (ostensibly!) and have a 9:30AM departure (both KLM). One checked bag, one carry-on but on a single itinerary. From what I can tell, it seems there are several passport/security stations throughout the airport and I wouldn't have to go back out to the "public" section because my bags are on the same itinerary. 1.25 hours seems like a fairly tight connection but doable, even accounting for the 15 minute-to-departure gate cut-off and potential delay in arrival of ~15 minutes. Am I correct?

You won't go through passport control or security in Amsterdam because you are coming from the US and not entering the Schengen Area. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
