Flying from Rome to US with 90 min layover at AMSTERDAM. What is the process for baggage, passport etc... Thanks!

All you have to do in Amsterdam is go through schengen exit passport control and then go through security at your departure gate. You don't have to do anything with your baggage.

We fly Into AMS from MInneapolis, USA on Delta and connect to another Delta flight on to Rome. Will we need to collect baggage or will it be transferred to next flight for us? Will we go thru passport control or customs? Thanks!

Your flight to Rome will be operated by Alitalia or KLM, not Delta. You will not have to do anything with your baggage. You will go through passport control when you enter the Schengen Pier of the terminal.

Arriving from Tel Aviv on KLM, departing for Atlanta on Delta. Layover is 55 min. Will I make it on time for Atlanta flight? Flights purchased on one ticket. Thank you!

Yes, that should be enough time. As you won't be entering the Schengen Area you won't have to go through Passport Control in AMS, just security at your departure gate.

  • Is my layover time enough?

My parents are travelling from Minneapolis to New Delhi via Amsterdam on Delta flight. They will be arriving on DL 260 in Amaterdam and leaving on KL 871. Their layover time is 50 mins. My question is- do they need to re check in baggage and go through security/passport check? And is this time enough? I'm pretty worried about whether they can make it. Thanks

No, since they will not be entering the Schengen area they will not have to do anything with their baggage or go through passport control. All they have to do is go from their arrival gate to their departure gate and go through security. They should have enough time.

Thank you! Your help is deeply appreciated

  • Arriving from Dehli continuing to Glasgow

On October 25th I'm arriving on a KLM flight from Dehli at 8.20am and have a connection to an easyjet flight to Glasgow at 10am (the only flight that day). As I understand the procedure, I'll need to collect my bag from KLM & transfer from Non-Schengen to Schengen terminal and re-check in my bags to easyjet (I have an e-ticket & have online checked in). Will 1hr 40 mins be enough time?

It will be possible but difficult to make that connection. Prepare for the possibity of having to take a train or waiting until the next day.

You will pass through Schengen Passport Control in AMS as you enter the Schengen pier of the terminal.

I am flying KLM from Barcelona to Amsterdam and I have a connecting flight on a non-codeshare airline to Lagos, 3 hrs after my arrival in Amsterdam. This means I have to go from Schengen to Non-Schengen and I claim and re-check my luggage. Is this enough time? Thanks for your help.

    That should be enough time.

Hello, I am flying easyjet between Edinburgh and Amsterdam, and then delta from Amsterdam to Minneapolis. I'm assuming I need to go thru passport control to the baggage claim hall, then get my bags, check them with delta/klm and go back thru immigration? I have 4.5 hours but want to confirm that it what I need to do. Thank you!

Yes, you have the procedure correct.

I am traveling from Detroit (USA) on Delta and will transfer in AMS for a flight to Dusseldorf. Will I have to go through Immigration and baggage customs at AMS? My layover in AMS is 55 minutes, is that enough? thanks in advance!

You will go through Schengen passport control and security when you enter the schengen pier at AMS. You don't have to do anything with your baggage. You should have enough time.

I am flying SOF-AMS-ATL and I have 1.5 h layover in AMS. Which terminal will I arrive at and which terminal will I fly to ATL from. Is 1.5h enough? Thank you!

Amsterdam only has one terminal. You should have plenty of time. As a non-schengen to non-schengen connection you will only go through security at your departure gate.

I will be flying from the US to Cologne on Delta/KLM with a 1:15 layover at AMS. Will I have to claim my luggage and go through customs/border control at AMS? Does that layover provide me with enough time to so?

No, you will not have to do anything with your baggage in AMS. When you enter Pier B you will go through schengen passport control and security inspection.

Also, yes, that should be enough time.

Hello. We are flying Delta from MSP (USA) to Cologne with a 3 hour layover in AMS. I believe we go through non-EU passport control in AMS, correct? Does that mean we won't have to go through passport control when we land in Cologne?

Yes, you will go through Schengen passport control when you enter the Schengen pier at AMS.

Will be arriving from ATL via Delta 72 at 0820 and transferring to KLM 1779 departing 1045 to HAM. Do I have to collect my bags at AMS? What pier will KLM depart from?

No, you do not have to collect your bags. You will go through Schengen Immigration at the head of Pier D, where your flight to HAM will depart.

  • YYZ to CDG via KLM and AF (7 hours layover in Amsterdam)

Hi, I am departing from Canada this Dec 2014 to Amsterdam (7 hours layover) via KLM before heading to Paris via Air France. I would like to visit the city center in Amsterdam. Would my baggage be transferred automatically to the connecting flight to Paris? Do you think 7 hours is sufficient amount of time to visit the city area? Thanks.

You do not have time to do this and you will have trouble getting back through security after doing so. Amsterdam airport has a lot of things to do to occupy yourself.

I disagree with the last post and think you can see amsterdam for a couple hours. KLM and Air France are code shares so I assume you purchased tix together? The have luggage lockers in the terminal for your carry on bags and it will take u 25 mins by train to central station. Get back within 3 hrs for your next flight?

We are arriving from ATL on a DL flight at 8:20am, connecting to a KLM flight to BUD at 10:15am. Will we have enough time, and will we have to collect our luggage for customs? Thank you!

You do not have to collect your luggage or pass through customs in Amsterdam as both the US and Hungary are outside the Schengen Area. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security.
