  • LAX to AMS to BOM

Hi we will be returning to Mumbai from LAX. LAX to AMS on DL602 and only one hour 40 min to change to DL 6070 we will be travelling with 2 kids will we have enough time to reach the next aircraft? Also will there be any staff at the arrival gate in AMS to help us.

Terminal 5 is the Delta Terminal at LAX. After TSA Screening are gates 51 to 59 - divided into clusters of 50A -51B gates, 52A -53B gates and 54A -59 gates.

Sorry my fault I was not clear..... I arrive at AMS on dL602 and depart on dl6070 but have only 1hr 40min between the flights in AMS, will that be enough time ?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. Since both flights are outside Schengen you will only have to go through security at your departure gate (no immigration or customs or anything with your baggage) in AMS.

  • From US to Amsterdam to Amman

I will be traveling from US to Amman through Amsterdam, and the flight is as the following: US to Amsterdam (Delta) Amsterdam to Amman (Royal Jordanian) My question is,, will i need to collect my luggage? since its 2 different flights? or do they have some kind of agreement to do it directly? And if i needed to collect my luggage , will i need to go thorough immigration process? or there will be some other place to collect the luggage for non Visa holders? Im Jordanian, and i dont hold a Visa to Europe, as i was told that i dont need a visa as long as im staying at the airport for a flight change. Hope i get an answer Thanks,

If you purchased both flights on one ticket, your bags will automatically be transferred to your connecing Royal Jordanian flight; however, note that Delta & Royal Jordanian do not belong to the same Airline Alliance, therefore, if you bought separate tickets, Delta may not transfer bags (find out from Delta). On arrival at AMS, you need to get into the 'non-Schengen' (foreign) passport line, then pick up your bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in bags where indicated. If your bags will not be transferred by Delta, go back to the Delta counter at the Departure level and check in your bag before proceeding through security check and gate. Yes, you will not need a Visa for flight change. NOTE: Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. Departures 1 uses the B, C & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. (Arrivals 1 & 2 and Arrivals 3 & 4 are on opposite sides of the center.)

Hello, I am flying from Prague to Amsterdam ( I am Czech citizen if it matters) and than to Atlanta. I know I have to pick up luggage in ATL but in Amsterdam will they automatically transfer luggage on plane? I am flying with Delta. Thank you

You arrive at AMS as a Schengen (domestic) arrival. If Delta is the only carrier you use, or if you bought both flights on one ticket, your bags will automatically be transferred to your connecting flight. For terminal details & transfer options, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ams, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the text.

  • sea delay with ams transfer to MAD

My daughter is on first international flight alone, and it was delayed slightly out of seattle. With landing in AMS at 8:30, and MAD flight boarding at 9am...any possibility of her making? Still confused if she needs to recheck her own luggage non-schengen to schengen? If delayed...who does she talk with to help expedite her through? She is unaccompanied.

At AMS she will have to go through non-Schengen (foreign) procedure, before she will be able to proceed to her non-Schengen (domestic) flight. 30 mins transfer time with checked luggage is therefore too short - unless she will only have a carry-on bag. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ams, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • CONNECTING FLIGHTS

I am flying from Munich to Cardiff via Amsterdam with a piece of hand luggage. Is 45 minutes enough to make my connecting flight from Amsterdam to Cardiff?

If both flights are on KLM that should be plenty of time.

Yes, that should be enough time - note that you have 1 hr 15 mins, not 50 mins. You will arrive in A, C, or D and depart from C or D. If you arrive in A, you take the mobile lounge or Aerotrain to C or D. The flight probably won't wait for you if you're late. You'll spend the night in a hotel and fly to London the next morning.

  • Bucharest, Romania through Amsterdam to Toronto, Canada
    Jun 22, 2014

I will be traveling from Bucharest, Romania through Amsterdam to Toronto, Canada with a layover of approx. 2hrs. Which is the transfer procedure in this case? Do I have to take my luggage and go through a new check or it will I have to follow a gate to gate transfer?

If Romania is a member of the Schengen countries, you will be considered a domestic arrival and can proceed directly to your connecting gate. If not, you need to go through 'non-Schengen' (passport check, pick up bags, go through customs clearance, re-check in bags). Same in Toronto. For terminal & transfer details, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ams, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Thank you. No Romania is not yet Schengen member. One more question regarding the luggage: For both legs of the trip (Bucharest to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Toronto) I will be traveling via KLM. Will they do the automatic transfer of the checked luggage or should I have to retrieve them on AMS and go through with baggage check as you said?

Thank you. No Romania is not yet Schengen member. Nevertheless, I still have some questions/doubts: 1. Shouldn't my ittinerary be considered International to International? Doesn't follow a sterile transfer procedure? 2. Regarding the luggage: For both legs of the trip (Bucharest to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Toronto) I will be traveling via KLM. Will they do the automatic transfer of the checked luggage or should I have to retrieve them on AMS and go through with baggage check as you said?

Yes, your connection is International to International. Yes AMS has sterile international connections. You do not have to do anything with your baggage. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and through security. Sujun, please stop giving horrible and incorrect "advice"

Where you check in depends on what airline you are flying. If you are flying KLM you check in at Terminal 5. If you are flying United you check in at Terminal 1. You do not go through customs on departure. You will go through EU immigration and customs when you arrive in Amsterdam.

we arrive in ams at 735am and depart to ath at 835. we are flyin with delta and 7 family members. i want to make sure we have enough time? are the gates close?

It's doable, but hurry (AMS is well-marked, just follow signs. NOTE: Arrivals from a non-Schengen (foreign) country at AMS: The passport will be checked upon arrival at, and departure from, Amsterdam Airport. On arrival, after passport control, follow signs to 'Baggage Hall' located on the ground level, retrieve your bags, & go through customs for security check. As you connect to a Schengen country, go through ticket control & security check; if connecting to a non-Schengen country, security check will be at the gate. Note that the transfer desks offer transfer information, and serve as check-in for a connecting flight - or - use of the self-service transfer kiosk.

There is a 24 hour dunkin donuts in Terminal 5 and a food court with nice benches to sleep on in T4 - http://www.sleepinginairports.net/usa/newyorkjfk.htm

Flying from ATL (Delta operated) to AMS then to New Delhi (KLM operated). Do I have to pick my baggae at AMS and then Check in again? Or will it get automaticaly transferred to my Destination at AMS?

2 hours 45 minutes should be sufficient. Once you clear customs and re-check your bags with United you can go through security and take the shuttle bus to Terminal A where your BWI flight will likely depart, or take the AirTrain to Terminal A and go through security there (the AirTrain is currently under construction but will be finished by the end of July).

Arriving 8:35 AM in AMS, connecting to KLM going to EDI at 10:00 a.m. Is that enough time

Yes, that should be plenty of time - AMS has sterile intl->intl connections so you will just have to go through security at your departure gate.

  • connecting with elderly traveler

My husband will be traveling with his father from Budapest to Amsterdam on KLM, and then on to Atlanta. Can you tell me how far they will have to walk and if 1-½ hours will give them enough time to make this connection. Are there shuttles in the airport for elderly? Thanks!

At AMS, the bow-shaped terminals has gates A - M; walking time from the entry of B or C gates all the way over to the entry of G, H or M gates would take about 15 mins. Walking to the end of B gates takes 15 mins; for the C gates 7 mins; for the D gates 8 mins; for the E gates 1 min; for the F gates in the Center 2 mins; for the G gates 5 mins; and for the H & M gates 7 mins. On arrival at connecting (non-Schengen - foreign) gate you go through security check. Not sure about transport, but airlines provide wheelchairs if reserved ahead of time.

They should not have to walk far. AMS is a fairly compact airport by international standards and they should have plenty of time. If your father-in-law can't walk easily you should request wheelchair service from KLM.
