  • BOS - AMS - MAD: 3 hours

Will 3 hours be enough on a Tuesday morning to connect from a BOS - AMS flight to a AMS - MAD flight, on separate tickets with checked bags? USA passports. thank you!

What airlines are you flying? Even if you can't get your bags checked through 3 hours should be enough time.

BOS-AMS is Delta and AMS-MAD is Iberia thanks for your help!

  • 2:20 minute connection on separate tickets

I am considering arriving on a KLM flight from Mexico arriving at 14:40 and leaving on a KLM flight at 17:00 to Copenhagen. These are two separate tickets and we will have checked luggage. Is this enough connection time?

Call KLM to have your reservations joined together. You should have enough time.

Although purchased as two separate tickets (from 2 different sources), will an airline "join" them if asked? That would make the transfer easier, but I have never heard of this.

Traveling IAH-AMS via United and checking in bags. Do I have to pick up my bags and then go through check in and security again?

Yes, you do. Leave at least 2.5 hours for your connection.

  • Connecting in AMS from JFK to Cape Twon, South Africa

Hi, my 73-year old father will be traveling from JFK & arriving in AMS on 11/29 @ 9:15 am on KLM 6007 (operated by Delta). His connecting flight to Cape Town on KLM 0597 leaves at 10:10 am that same day. 1. Will have enough time to change planes? 2. Does he have to clear customs and/or check in for the connecting flight? I assume his luggage is automatically forwarded to the connecting flight? Thanks!

No, he doesn't not have to go through passport control or customs in Amsterdam as he is not entering the Schengen Area. All he has to do is go from his arrival gate to his departure gate. He should have enough time as long as his flight from JFK is on-time.

You will go through Schengen exit passport control in Amsterdam, you do not have to go through security there.

  • 2 Hour Layover Enough?

In August I will be travelling from Zagreb to Amsterdam and on to Vancouver. I arrive in Amsterdam at 10:30 and my flight to Vancouver is at 12:40. Because I am travelling Air Transat, I have to pick up my luggage in Amsterdam, and then check it in again. The Ticket counter closes at 11:30. Will I be able to pull this off?

I think you'll have just enough time if your flight from Zagreb is on-time.

Hi! I am flying from Budapest to Detroit with a layover of 90 minutes in Amsterdam. From what I heard since I come from Schengen zone (Hungary) I just need to go from my arrival gate to my departure which probably will be D01, because I am flying with Delta and I have heard there are some document check at the gate where you receive a paper with the actual gate. Can you please tell me if 90 minutes would be enough and confirm wheater the there is additional security check at gate D01? Also the enitre trip was book on the same ticket. Thank you

You will go through Schengen Exit passport control first before you go to D01. 90 minutes should be enough time. What goes on at D01 isn't really a security check, they just ask you a few questions.

I am flying from Minneapolis, MN to Basel, Switzerland with transfer in Amsterdam. Will I need to go through customs when I arrive in Amsterdam?

By customs, I meant passport control / security.

You will go through passport control and to your departure gate.

I am booking aflight from Minnesota to Istanbul and returning via AMS. this is all KLM. we have checked bags on the return. the connection time is 90 minutes to change planes. Will we have to retrieve our bags or will they transfet straight thru. IS this adequate time to make the connection. do we have to clear any customs. thanks

You don't have to do anything with your bags or go through passport control in Amsterdam. On the return to the US you will have to go through security. You should have enough time.

I am flying from Manchester to Mexico City via Amsterdam, same ticket, both flights are operated by KLM, my question is upon arrival in Amsterdam do I need to go through passport control since UK is not Schengen or I should be heading to transfers? It's the first time I'll be transfering so I do not really know how it works. Thank you.

No, you will not have to go through passport control. You can go directly to your departure gate.

  • Arriving United, transfer to easy jet to UK

I am arriving on United and then going to UK on EasyJet. Do I have to go through immigration and customs (and then check in and security again) or can I transfer between airlines in the terminals? Tickets are via separate reservations.

Do you have checked baggage or not?

    No luggage.

Then if you have already checked in for your Easyjet flight online you can go directly to your departure gate.

    Great, thanks so much!

  • 1.5 Flight to Nairobi arriving from Venice
    Jun 7, 2016

I have to book a flight from Venice to Nairobi with KLM. There is one stop in Amsterdam with 1.5 hour connection between flights. It is one booking, although the flight from Venice is operated by KLM and the flight to Naitobi by Kenya Airlines. Is 1.5 hours enough to make the Nairobi flight? I am a Canadian citizen with Canadian passport.

We arrive on Delta from Salt Lake City at 10:50am and fly out on KLM at 11:55am on KLM. Do we have enough time to make the 2nd flight? Are the gates for Delta and KLM close to each other?
