will I have enough time to connectJul 20, 201210I am considering flying from PDX on Delta flight 178 to AMS and will be flying onto CPT on KLM flight 9599 with a 1 hr. 35 min layover. Do I have to go through customs? What terminals do Delta and KLM occupy? Is that enough time? Thank you.mereposted on Thu, Jul 19[ Reply ][ Like ]1. Arrivals are on level 1, where you need to go through Dutch Immigration /Customs clearance (non-Schengen procedure) - this can take from 30 mins to an hour, depending on season and time of day. Inside the first level are separate sections, marked as 'Arrivals 1' through 'Arrivals 4': Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. (A Transfer Assistance booth is close to the supermarket.) 2. The Departures level of the passenger terminal has Departure areas 1, 2 & 3, and Concourses with Gate Areas B-C, D, E, F, G-H, & M. Departures 1 & 2 have ticket counters 3 to 16, security checkpoints and access to Lounges 1 & 2 and Gates B-C, D & E, while at the opposite side Departures 3 & 4 have ticket counters 17 to 32, security checkpoints and access to Lounges 3 & 4 and Gates F, G-H & M. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. Your stated time is doable.frjul12posted on Fri, Jul 20

customsJul 15, 201211I am arriving from the US with no checked luggage, only a carry on. Do I need to go through customs as I am connecting and flying to Germany? Thanks!sophiaposted on Sat, Jul 141 person likes this post [ Like ]As a non-Schengen (foreign) arrival at AMS you need to go through their immigration process (passport check) before connecting to your next flight. To read up on terminals and connections open www.ifly.com/ams - under QUICK LINKS choose "Terminal Maps" - scroll down for detailed descriptions.sujul12posted on Sun, Jul 15

will I have enough time to connect??Jul 13, 201220I arrive in AMS from the US 7/22 at 7:45am and need to connect with Aegean airlines at8:50am. I will have only one carry on bag. Will I have enough time? Which gate and terminal does Aegean use?mlprdhposted on Thu, Jul 12On arrival at Amsterdam Airport you need to go through passport control before connecting to your Aegean (code A3) flight. Since I don't have your destination or flight number, I suggest you open http://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/FlightInformation/Departures.htm - add Destination, flight number and airline, hit "search flight" and then click on "Details" at the A3[flight number] & it will show you gate. Your ticket and on arrival at AMS the overhead screens will also give you details. You have enough time for transfer.frjul12posted on Fri, Jul 13

Transfer from internat. to terminal 1Jul 6, 201210We only have 50 minutes to transfer and we are travelling with kids, please advise how to get from international terminal flight Delta 9381 from SFO to terminal 1 for delta 9602 flightTanyaposted on Thu, Jul 51. My SFO search for both flights for today & tomorrow did not come up with your flight numbers. 2. As an international arrival at SFO, you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags, go through customs clearance and then re-check-in your bags. This may take 40-55 mins, particularly in summer. Thereafter, you can proceed to Terminal 1 (B gates 20-36), but need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. The Red Line of the AirTrain connects all terminals. I am not confident that 50 mins is enough time for you and the kids to transfer. It does not leave any time for possible flight delay, let alone transfer to T1.frjul12posted on Fri, Jul 6

TimeJun 18, 201210We will arrive from US on Delta flight, arriving at AMS at 8:05 a.m. Our connecting flight is also Delta and leaves AMS at 9:15 a.m. going to Oslo. Is this sufficient time?nikosposted on Sun, Jun 17At AMS I see a Delta 8:10 arrival from Boston at "Hall 2" - which may refer to Arrivals area 2; and a Munich departure at B36. You need to open www.ifly.com/ams, then click on QUICK LINKS' "Terminal Map", scroll down to text re Arrival& Departure levels. Your time is extremely tight as you need to go through immigration /customs clearance procedure first, which can take up to an hour at this time of the year - not to mention flight delay and connection.mojun12posted on Mon, Jun 18

time to connect KLM to KLMJun 10, 201210We arrive from Vienna to Amsterdam on KLM-connecting flight on KLM one and one half hours later. What do we need to know to successfully make this connection. Will we have to recheck luggage? go through security again? What gate is KLM?Gloriaposted on Sun, Jun 101. As a 'foreign' or non-Schengen traveler, you need to go through Dutch immigration & customs clearance procedure. 2. The passenger terminal has everything is under one roof, including Piers (Concourses) B-C, D, E, F, G-H & M and corresponding gates. 3. Inside the first level are separate sections, marked as 'Arrivals 1' through 'Arrivals 4': Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. 4. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. 5. No shuttle buses or trains are needed. Look at your ticket and on arrival at overhead screens to find your connecting KLM flight number, gate and departure time. 6. Expect to find long lines at the immigration/ customs clearance facility at this time of the year - do not waste time.sunjun12posted on Sun, Jun 10

2 hrs to transfer KLM from US to SAS CPHMay 29, 201210Arrive from US on KLM to Amsteram at 8am catching SAS to Copenhagen dep 10:25 am. Know i will go thru customs, if carry on luggage can i go stright to next flight without any more security? If checked baggage do i have to leave security and find SAS to check bag to CPH? does 2 hrs cover this? Will fly back into Amsterdam from Oslo and stay for 4 days. Assume i can arr this time without customs and go straight to train?flip13posted on Mon, May 28You are considered a 'non-Schengen' (foreign) traveler; therefore you need to go through passport check at AMS (both ways) and, if you have checked bags, pick them up, go through customs clearance & re-check them in. Two hours should suffice. (non-Schengen means countries not participating in the Schengen agreement)tuapr12posted on Tue, May 29

Transfer Time?May 28, 201220I will arrive on CZ326 (China Southern) on 18th June at 06:45 with luggage booked through to Newcastle UK (KL953), that flight leaving at 08:10 the same day. How long will I need to get from one gate to the next - I am fairly old and slow!!. I presume that I won't have to go through baggage or passport control . Is that correct? For the record I have both Australian and EU passports.Sprattposted on Sun, May 27Unless your plane arrives at Schiphol Airport very late, you have enough time for transfer. AMS has excellent directional signs; but do not hesitate to ask any AMS attendant for asstance. AMS has one large passenger terminal with three-levels - everything is under one roof, including Piers (Concourses) B-C, D, E, F, G-H & M: Arrivals is on the ground level and Departures is on the second level. Arriving passengers at AMS need to go through passport control; however, passengers, whose countries are EU members, and whose passport has a chip, can now us the new self-service passport control. 1. The Arrivals level: Inside the first level are separate sections, marked as 'Arrivals 1' through 'Arrivals 4': Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. The center has a Previum Service point, access to casino, children's corner & other services. Bars & restaurants, as well as shops are located in the post-security section of all areas. Departures 1 uses the B & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. 3. The Top Level of the passsenger terminal can be reached by stairways from the second floor. The Lounge 1 area stairs lead to gates D59-D87, with airline lounge 25 and other amenities, including first aid; the Lounge 2 area stairs lead to airline lounges 40-52 and amenities, and the Lounge 3 area stairs lead up to airline lounges 40-52 and other amenities, including a shower. 4. Passengers flying with BMIbaby, Flybe, EasyJet, Jet-2 or Air Berlin most likely depart from Gates H or M - check your boarding pass. Once the flight info screens indicate 'boarding' (40 mins prior to departure), you can proceed to your gate. The pier has no restaurants, bars or shops. 5. Flight Transfers: At transfer kiosks you can check connecting flight information or book a new fight. Transfer desks T2 & T3 are located in Lounge 1; desks T4 & T5 at D gate area; desk T6 at E gate area & desk T9 at G gate area.moapr12posted on Mon, May 281 hr 25 mins should be plenty of time for your transfer. While I cannot give you the gate numbers for your arrival and departure (your ticket may indicate it), note that AMS Airport has on level 1 arrivals and level 2 departures. Since you have an EU passport, you will only have to go through passport check at arrivals. You need to make sure that China Southern will transfer your bags to KLM flight - if not, you would have to claim your bags and re-check them in with KLM. On arrival, look at the overhead screens to find your connecting flight number, gate and departure time. The transfer desk will help you if you need further directions, so will any other airport attendant.moapr12posted on Mon, May 28

This can take at least 30 mins. - Then you have to get to your connecting gate AMS is huge! I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ams and click on Quick Links/ Terminal Map - also read details below the map to get an idea of the airport layout, etc.thapr12posted on Thu, May 17
