We will be arriving to Schiphol from Budapest and departuring to New York: Is 1 hour enough to make the connection? Will I have to go through passport control? Thank you!

Yes, you will go through Schengen exit passport control and US Security questions in Amsterdam. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi there, I'm going to book a flight from Glasgow to Amsterdam and then a second booking from Amsterdam to Sydney (with other stops on the way). It works out better for me to book the 2 journeys separately, however I know that I will have to check in again when I get to Amsterdam airport. I will have 3 hours between the flights. I am wondering if anyone can advise whether this will be enough time to collect my bag from the first journey, get to the check in desk in Amsterdam, and then check in my baggage for a second time, go through security and get to the gate for the second journey. The airline from Glasgow to Amsterdam is Easyjet and the airline from Amsterdam to Sydney is China Southern. Any advice would very much appreciated. Many thanks.

Yes, 3 hours should be enough time.

I am flying KLM from Kilimanjaro Airport, Arusha, TZ to JFK, New York and transfer in AMS, Amsterdam. Do I have to claim checked baggage? Pass through customs at AMS? Passport control? Security? Can I stay at the airside Yotel after completing all check-in procedures or am I in a different area of the airport?

All you have to do in Amsterdam is go through security, US Security questions, and to your departure gate.

Thanks for this info. Much appreciated. Do you know if Yotel is located in the same area of the airport?

The Yotel is in the secure area. Yes.

If I fly from Chicago to Zurich with a connecting flight in AMS, will I need to go through security and/or passport control when I land in AMS? And if I go through security/passport control in AMS, will I need to do so again when I land in Zurich? Thank you!

Yes, in Amsterdam you will go through Schengen Entry passport control. You won't have to in Zurich.

Thank you for the prompt reply! How much time does it usually take to get through Schengen Entry passport control? Would a two hour layover be sufficient? Thanks again!

It's usually pretty fast. 2 Hours should be plenty of time.

We are flying to Kilimanjaro through Amsterdam from Edinburgh. Is 1 hour and 50 minutes enough time in between the AMS and JRO flights? both flights are KLM

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Amsterdam to Vilnius- layover too short?

Help!! I'm flying to Amsterdam from Houston and continuing on to Vilnius. I just now noticed that my layover in Amsterdam is only one hour. Other than calling Expedia, what do I do? How long to get through Customs??

That should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Yes, that should be just enough time.

Have a Delta flight from Glasgow connecting with a KLM flight to Atlanta. Both on the same booking. The connecting time is 1 hour 45 minutes. Is that enough? Last time I was through Schipol the passport control line was very long. Then I was connecting to a regional flight. This time it's to a trans-ocean flight for which usually they close the gates 10 minutes or so ahead pushing the true time to more like 1.5 hours. Still OK or no?

Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you don't have to go through passport control. You just have to go through US Security questions and to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Flying from Nairobi connecting in AMS all on Delta/KLM... will we have to collect baggage and re-check?

No, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Amsterdam. You just have to go through Security and US Security questions.

I have a flight leaving from Amsterdam at 9:15 AM. I will be flying in from Munich and arriving at 8:10 AM. They are two different tickets but the airline isn't. Will this be enough time to get to the next flight?

Do you have checked bags? what airlines are you flying?

  • connecting Delta to LOT & picking up baggage

I'm flying JFK to AMS on Delta, then AMS to Warsaw on LOT. My bags won't be checked through. I think these are the transfer steps - I'll go through passport control, then pick up my bags, then go straight to the LOT gate (I'll have a boarding pass) without going through security again. Please confirm this is right! Thanks.

That is incorrect. You will go through passport control, claim your bags, re-check them with LOT at the LOT check-in desk, and then go through security.

Thanks so for much for clarifying!

Both flights KLM Glasgow to Ams Ams to Rome How long do I need to transfer between flights

I would want at least an hour. You will have to go through passport control in Amsterdam.

Do you go through passort control if it's EU to Eu

the UK is outside the Schengen Area, so yes, you have to go through passport control.

  • Berlin to Detroit via Amsterdam - Transfer Time

My wife and I are presently scheduled to fly from Berlin to Amsterdam on a Delta Flight operated by KLM. When we arrive at Schipol, we will have one hour and thirty minutes to transfer to a Delta flight going from Amsterdam to Detroit, USA. We will have checked luggage that I assume we will not need to worry about but will have normal carry-ons. And I have weak legs and use a cane which makes walking longer distances slow and/or difficult. Is the 1 1/2 hours enough? (We also will be Business Class on both flights.) Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thank you.

    That is enough time.

    Thanks!

Flying US to Germany via Amsterdam. Layover is just about an hour--enough time to get to connecting flight? Same airline--would I have to go through security again?

Yes, that should be just enough time. You will go through passport control, not security.
