my niece is traveling today on Delta/KLMfrom Lisbon to Seattle with a stopover of an hour in Amsterdam does she have enough time to transfer. I know she departs from GATE E17 to seattle just cant fing the gate for her arrival from Lisbon

That should be just enough time. After she arrives she will have to go through Schengen exit passport control and US Security questions.

hi. i am traveling form Norway to Colombia. My first stopp will be in Amsterdam. i am coming by Sas airlines and changing to United and flying to Houston (my second stop). My question. is it enough time to change the plane? do i need to claim my luggage and check it again or do i need just passport control? all flight is one booking.

You won't have to claim your luggage in Amsterdam, just go through Schengen Exit passport control, US security questions, and to your departure gate. You should have just enough time.

  • 1 hr 15 min layover
    Jul 22, 2016
I am travelling from to London via amsterdam and I have a 1 hr 15 min layover. Is this sufficient? Also, since my flight is a partnership between kenya airways and KLM do I have to recheck my baggage?

You don't have to do anything with your bags in Amsterdam. You should have enough time.

Coming from SEA to AMS onto GLA. Do I go through customs in AMS or will my bag go straight to GLA? Arriving via Delta, KLM to GLA. Thank you

Your bags will go straight to Glasgow. All you have to do in Amsterdam is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Transfer between airlines with checked luggage
    Jul 18, 2016
I will be traveling from US (Seattle) AMS on Icelandair. I will then transfer to a KLM flight to Tanzania. My understanding is that I will have my passport checked and then pick up my checked luggage. Where will I go next?, check in at KLM counter, go through airport security and then to KLM depature gate? Or will I need to go through customs also? How much time should I allow?

You will actually go through Schengen entry passport control in Keflavik. In Amsterdam you just have to claim your bags and go to the KLM counter to re-check your bags, then go through Schengen Exit passport control and security.

Thank you.. To confirm - I will not need to go through customs, is that correct? Is Schengen Exit passport control and security one checkpoint or two?

It's two checkpoints, but Schengen Exit passport control is typically a very brief process.

I have 2 hours between connecting flights between KEF - AMS, and AMS - TLV. It is a change of airlines, tickets purchased separately. Under normal circumstances, will I make it? Thank you.

Do you have checked bags? With checked bags I don't think you will be able to get them to the Check in desk for your Tel Aviv flight before the cutoff.

sorry I should have said that from the start. Carryon only, no checked luggage

Then you should have enough time as long as your flight from Iceland is on-time.

  • Icelandic flight from AMS & luggage storage

Icelander says for Schiphol: Terminal 3, Handling agent: Swissport, but all the maps of AMS show concourses. Do they mean Concourse C? We arrive on KLM from Venice and want to store luggage for 10 hours between flights. Thanks!

Just ignore it - Amsterdam only has one Terminal.

  • 50 minutes enough time?
    Jul 13, 2016
My 65 year old mother is flying solo for her first trip to Europe. She is flying on Delta from SEA to AMS with a connecting flight to STR. Will a 50 minute connection time be enough to make her flight to STR?

It's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

She has some minor physical limitations and is not a fast walker. Is it a long distance between where her flight from the US will arrive and where the KLM City Hopper flights depart from? Should she request mobility assistance?

  • DL to KLM
    Jul 12, 2016
I am traveling from ATL to AMS on DL and then to CPT on KL, with 1.5 hrs layover...will I have time?

Yes, all you have to do in Amsterdam is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • Question re layover times
    Aug 5, 2016
My daughter is flying Minneapolis to AMS to Marseille (MRS) Will she need to go through customs or immigration in AMS or MRS? What amount of time is enough for a layover? She will have one ticket through and checked luggage. Thank you!

Assuming everything is on the same reservation, She will go through passport control in Amsterdam and claim her bags and go through customs in Marseille. Note that customs is a very cursory process in France, you usually walk right through.

I am traveling to Rome, Italy via Amsterdam on a visit visa issued by Italy. My layover is 2 hour, would I be stamped in Amsterdam and Rome, If I got stamped in Amsterdam, can I go to the town for few minutes before connectiING ?

I'm flying in on delta from Atlanta to Amsterdam to Doha , my layover is 70 minutes.. Will I have enough time ? Do I go through passport, customs or security in Amsterdam

All you have to do in Amsterdam is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate if all tickets are on the same reservation. You should have enough time.

My daughter is flying from Nairobi through AMS and connecting to a flight to ATL. She only has 1 hr and 10 minutes for a layover. Will the arriving flight from Nairobi on KLM and the departing Delta flight be in the same concourse?

It's a difficult but not impossible layover. She just has to go through security and to her departure gate.

  • BOS - AMS - MAD: 3 hours
    Jun 28, 2016
Will 3 hours be enough on a Tuesday morning to connect from a BOS - AMS flight to a AMS - MAD flight, on separate tickets with checked bags? USA passports. thank you!

What airlines are you flying? Even if you can't get your bags checked through 3 hours should be enough time.

BOS-AMS is Delta and AMS-MAD is Iberia thanks for your help!

Yes, that should be just about enough time.

  • 2:20 minute connection on separate tickets
    Jun 28, 2016
I am considering arriving on a KLM flight from Mexico arriving at 14:40 and leaving on a KLM flight at 17:00 to Copenhagen. These are two separate tickets and we will have checked luggage. Is this enough connection time?

Call KLM to have your reservations joined together. You should have enough time.

Although purchased as two separate tickets (from 2 different sources), will an airline "join" them if asked? That would make the transfer easier, but I have never heard of this.

They have the capability to. Also, if they don't over the phone, often if you show your second confirmation to the agent when you first check your bags, they are almost always willing to check your bags to their final destination if it's on the same airline.
