I'm travelling on delta to US and I'll have lay over at Schiphol for 2hr 5m, will I need a Schengen visa for this?

What country are you a citizen of? Where are you flying from? Were both of your tickets purchased together?

It's a round trip; I will be travelling from US to Accra in Ghana with Delta airlines of which I will buy the ticket at a go on the delta website. My departure route to Accra from US is a straight flight through JFK so there's no problem with that. However, on my return from Accra back to US, the delta flight will take me through Schiphol where I will have lay over for 2hrs 5m and take the next delta flight to US. I'm a Ghanaian citizen and the US visa is the visa I have

If you are a US permanent resident then you don't need a Schengen Transit Visa.

Thanks Zap but I think when you have a valid US visa and you're transiting at Schiphol to a non- Schenghen country, you're exempted from taking an airport transit visa. I read this information at the Schenghen website: http://www.schengenvisainfo.com/transit-schengen-visa/

I am flying from Calgary to Cairo. i have 2 layovers. one 1:15 layover in AMS then another 4 hours one in Paris. Do i need a Schengen visa? in other words is the flight between AMS and PAris considered a domestic flight? My airlines is AF. I am an egyptian citizen with PR status in canada. Thanks!

From what I can tell if you were not making two stops within Schengen, your Canadian Permanent Residency would have exempted you from needing an Airport Transit Visa. However, since you are flying a flight between two points in Schengen you need a regular Transit Visa, which your Canadian Permanent Resident status does not exempt you from requiring.

  • AMS to BOM connection on Delta

I have two separate tickets YYC-AMS is the first leg on KLM and then AMS- BOM , on Delta , only have 1 hr and 20 mins between the connection in AMS , will I be able to claim and recheckin with Delta within that time frame , planning on checking in online with Delta.? Thanks!

You probably won't be able to check-in online, but you can show your Delta confirmation to the agent in Calgary to get your bags checked through to Mumbai and then in Amsterdam get your boarding pass from the Delta transfer desk. If you can do that, you'll have enough time.

Thanks Zap , I'm travelling standby on myidtravel and was told they can't check my baggage through , hopefully KLM can do that for me in YYC , but if I can get someone at the Delta counter in YYC to check me in , will there be enough time to collect my bags and drop them off at Delta in AMS ? Apprciate your help!

No, you'll be after the bag cutoff in AMS. When traveling standby you probably shouldn't ever check a bag.

Will a 1hr 15 min transfer time to sufficient to catch our connecting flight all booked with KLM? Many thanks.

Yes, that should be enough time. Since you will not be entering the Schengen Area you will just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security.

I have only 75 minute layover in AMS upon arrival from USA on KLM. Will I have time to collect luggage and go through customs before flight out to JRO? Will I have time to do this?

You don't have to go through Customs or claim your baggage in Amsterdam. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security. You should have enough time.

Arriving from LAX and have about 75 minutes to transfer to Kilimanjaro (JRO) flight. Anyone know how far? No immigration, etc. required, correct? Thanks.

Right, you do not have to go through passport control, but you will have to go through security at your gate. You should have enough time.

In March will arrive from TPE to connect to BEG, and my return is from BEG to connect to IAD. Need I collect luggage to recheck in addition to passport control, security etc. both ways? Thank you!

Assuming each of your connections in AMS were purchased together (ie TPE-AMS-BEG is on one ticket and BEG-AMS-IAD is on one ticket), You will not have to collect your baggage in AMS on any connection. Since you will not be entering the Schengen Area on any of these flights either, you will not have to go through passport control. You will just go through security.

Hi, I will be transiting AMS from Oslo to Atlanta, US with 55 mins. Will this be time enough?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will go through Schengen exit passport control but AMS is built for short connections.

In May, I am flying from Boston on Delta to Cologne via Amsterdam. My layover is only 50 minutes. Do I have to go thru passport control or do I proceed immediately to my gate? I am not checking luggage.

Yes, you will have to go through passport control and security. This connection is still possible if your first flight is on-time but leaves very little time to spare if there is a delay.

I will have to transfer from a non-Schengen flight (gates H) to a flight to Bucharest in a non-Schengen gate D27. I read there is a passport control before D gates, but can't find if it is also in the way to the downstairs non-Schengen D gates. Will I have to wait at the passport control for these gates? Thanks.

In june we will be flying from Minneapolis to Venice with change at AMS with only 55 minutes. We think that is too close for the connection. Is luggage checked clear through from MSP to Venice. Is 55 minutes calling it too close?

Yes, you won't have to claim your baggage in AMS. You should have enough time. AMS is made for close connections.

Hello, I'm flying from Naples, IT to AMS and then on to the USA. Is a 1h 15m layover enough time? Will we need to claim and recheck bags? Thank you!

All you have to do is go through Schengen Exit passport control, walk to your departure gate, and go through security. Nothing with your bags. You should have enough time.

I am planning a trip with KLM airlines from Oslo to Lima through Amsterdam. I am wondering if 1h 25 min transfer time at AMS is enough to catch my flight to Lima?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

Hi there! My route is YYC-AMS-LHR on KLM. I have 1:45 in between flights. Will this be enough time? Will I have to clear customs, collect my luggage? Any info would be great! Thanks :)

No, you will not have to go through passport control or do anything with your luggage as you will not be entering the Schengen Area. you only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and go through security. You have enough time.

hi, i will landed in AMS from DXB with Emirates and depart from AMS to MAD with Iberia. Will i go through immigration control in AMS? thank you!

Yes, you will go through Schengen passport control in AMS since you will be flying a within-Schengen flight.

hi ZAP thanks for your reply! what if i'm flying with KLM to AMS and then Iberia to South America (but with layover in MAD)? Since as i'm aware that KLM and Iberia are in the same concourse in AMS - by this i'm hoping to not go through passport control.

Flying any Schengen to Schengen route you will need to go through Schengen passport control. If you do not want to go through Schengen passport control you will have to find a route to Bogota that does not involve a within-Schengen flight. I'm assuming you already hold a DXB-AMS ticket on Emirates and this is why you are asking. Your only options are to fly somewhere else in Schengen, connect in the US (in which case I'm guessing you would need a US Transit Visa), or connect way out of your way, like in Sao Paulo, Lima, or Quito. KLM flies AMS-Panama City (PTY) nonstop. See if that works. Panama has a very liberal transfer policy for foreign nationals.

Also, KLM begins nonstop Amsterdam-Bogota service on March 31.

You may want to also look into connecting in Aruba, Curacao, or Havana.

So are you saying if i landed with Emirates in AMS and go to PTY with KLM, i dont need to go thru customs?

    Correct.

Oh yeah, the other requirement is that you either need to have no checked baggage or will need to have your baggage checked through to PTY in DXB.

hi ZAP! thank you so much! okay. now i got DXB-AMS with Emirates (will arrive in AMS at 2000hrs) and AMS-UIO with KLM (will depart from AMS at 10000hrs).the transit time is 14hrs. Is it ok if i stay at the gate? overnight? or any other place i can wait but not going pass customs? thanks!
