What customs and security will I have to go through to transfer from a flight from Canada going to London with a UK passport?

You don't have to go through any customs or security. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks, that is helpful in planning my trip

I am travelling from Mumbai ( BOM) to AMS to Seattle on Delta Airlines. I have a valid US Visitors Visa( B1/B2 ). Layover at AMS , for change of plane , is1 hr and 55 mins. Please let me know- Will it be sufficient to walk from arrival gate to security check of flight to Seattle.( Terminal no is not mentioned on ticket ) Any need to go tp Passport Control in AMS. please let me know. Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. Amsterdam only has one Terminal. You will not go through passport control in Amsterdam.

I have a connection time of 50 mintues from BHX (Birmingham, UK) going to ORD (Chicago O'Hare) on the same ticket, Delta have assured me that it is enough time. I'm just a little concerned after the attacks in Belgium. Should i be?

You will have to go through US Security questions and to your departure gate. It is certainly possible but is very tight.

  • Arriving from ORD with a connecting flight to STR

Hi, I am flying into AMS from ORD (O'hare Chicago). I have only 50 minutes before my next flight to STR (Stuttgart). Will I have enough time to get to my flight? Will I have to go through customs and baggage claim in Amsterdam?

You will go through passport control but don't have to do anything with your baggage. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connecting at AMS from USA

Im arriving from USA to transfer to another flight to Cork, Ireland. I have 2 hrs between flights. Will this be adequate time. Im not sure if I have to clear any customs procedure to transfer.

2 hours should be plenty of time. Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you will not go through passport control in Amsterdam.

Arriving at AMS on Klm from Helsnki at 0835 then transferring to Delta AMS to SLC at 0950. Is that enough time? Have boarding pass and checked luggage. Do I go through passport control and what pies do those airlines use? Thank you.

You will go through Schengen Exit passport control and US Security questions. You should have enough time. You will probably arrive in B or C and depart from D, E, or G, but KLM uses basically the whole airport.

I am flying from AGP (Malaga-Transavia Air) to BOS (Boston USA - KLM) with a 1 hr layover. It appears the outbound BOS flight departs from D gate; but I cannot locate any info on the inbound from AGP. Is 1 hr layover sufficient time to make a connection?

It will probably arrive in B or C.

I'll be travelling from BHX to KUL with 1 hour layover in AMS. Do I need to go through passport control and will it be too rush for the transfer? I'm travelling on Malaysian passport. Thanks.

Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you do not have to go through passport control. Assuming both flights are on the same reservation, on your way to KUL all you have to do is go to your departure gate, on your way back to BHX you just have to go through security and to your departure gate.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, both the sectors are on the same reservation by KLM. What is the distance between the arrival and departure gate? Is the one hour layover time enough to make the connecting flight?

    That should be enough time.

    Thank you.

Hi, I'm flying to SOF from Boston and have 2 hours connections to AMS. Is that going to be enough time? On my way back it's even shorter SOF-AMS-BOS with 1;30 hours connection. Thank you for your help!

I'm flying with Delta and Bulgaria Air.

I also should have mentioned that the flights are on the same ticket.

Are both tickets on the same reservation or two separate reservations? Do you have checked baggage?

Yes, same reservation. And yes, we have checked baggage.

Then that should be enough time both ways.

    Thank you!

Our Delta flight from Oslo lands at 8:20AM on Tuesday, and our Delta flight to PDX takes off at 10:00AM on the same Tuesday. Same ticket, have checked luggage, two travellers. Is 1hr 40 minutes enough time for this transfer?

Yes, that's plenty of time. You just have to go through Schengen exit passport control, US Security questions, and to your departure gate.

Thank you so much. What a relief!

Flying DL to AMS, then KLM to Edinburgh, with 1 hour 20 min to connect. Seems short. Is that enough time?

Yes, it should be enough time. Since you aren't entering the Schengen Area you don't have to go through passport control and can go directly to your departure gate.

Flying Delta from EWR - AMS and a separate reservation AMS - SOF. Luggage will have to be collected and re-checked. Is 2.5 hrs enough time for that?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Do i need to go through customs and immigration if i have a layover

I am flying from ATL->AMS(1.5 hour layover)->Cape Town SA. I am on Delta to AMS and then KLM from AMS->Cape Town. Do we have to get our checked bags, go through customs/immigration and recheck or are the bags transferred directly and we do not have to do the above? Our layover is only 1.5 hours.

No, all you have to do in Amsterdam is go to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Hello, Our layover time was changed to 1hr 15 mins. We are flying KLM from Vancouver BC to Venice Italy. Is 1 hr and 15 mins enough time to make our connecting flight in Amsterdam? Our tickets are continuous from Vancouver BC to Venice Italy also on KLM from Amsterdam to Italy.

Yes, that should be enough time. You just have to go through Schengen passport control and to your departure gate.
