I have a 1 hr and 5 min. connection time between KLM flights arriving from the US and departing to Nairobi. Will this be sufficient?

Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

Coming on United to Amsterdam and want to connect on KIM flight to Dar-es-salaam Have 2hrs Is that enough time?

With checked bags and two separate reservations, no I don't think that's enough time. If you don't check a bag I think you could do it.

I have 1 hr & 25 min connection between KLM flights arriving from the US and departing to Budapest. Will this be sufficient presuming everything is on time?

Yes, you just have to go through passport control and to your departure gate.

Thanks a bunch ZAP. I presume passport control because Hungary is also in the Schengen area and AMS in the first entry point. Do we not also have to pick up baggage and go thru customs in AMS or will that happen in Budapest?

Yes, the first statement is correct. No, you do not have to claim your bags in Amsterdam.

We're flying from Rome to Amsterdam to JFK. Is 55 minutes enough time to make the flight to JFK. KLM Royal is the airline.

It's possible, it doesn't leave any time to spare though if there are an issues.

  • 1hr layover US to UK transfer
    Oct 22, 2016

Hello, I have a flight from Los Angeles, CA, U.S.A., and I am transferring in Amsterdam to catch a flight to Humberside, UK. I only have an hour layover (assuming my flight from the US is on time). I checked online and it says I will go through a sort of passport check, but I'm assuming that people traveling into the UK are still being treated the same as EU citizens. I think my two concerns are that I'm pretty sure I'll be in the D gates as it's one of the little planes you have to be bussed out to that goes to Humberside, and I've also read a story that some people have experienced having to check in again to re-print boarding passes because they've landed on the day after their initial departure (I fly out on a Friday from the US, land on a Saturday in Amsterdam). So my questions are: 1) Are people flying into the UK going through the same routine as those flying into the EU still (considering it's no longer a part of the EU) where I'll be required to go through a passport check during my transfer?; 2) I cannot remember how early you need to be at the D gates before they start bussing people to the plane, and I'm wondering if anyone knows (I want to say it was 30 min before the plane is scheduled for departure they start bussing people to the plane, but I can't remember); 3) Will I be required to re-check in because of my landing date? 4) and ultimately my main question is regarding if people think I will have enough time for a transfer (I already plan on sprinting across the airport haha), but essentially the answers to these questions will probably help me determine how things will play out. If there's any additional notes as to whether I'll be going through any security lines or anything like that, I'd love to be informed. Thanks so much!

You actually don't go through a passport check since you aren't entering the Schengen Area. Also the UK is still part of the EU. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I leave YVR in Vancouver, Canada on December 17th, 2016 and arrive in Amsterdam on December 18th at 10:15 am. Immediately I want to catch a flight to Barcelona. Transavia has a flight at 11:30 am to Barcelona. Will I have enough time to catch the flight? Thank you.

On two separate reservations that is not enough time with checked bags. Without checked bags it's barely possible if everything goes perfectly.

Nov 23rd, we fly into Amsterdam from Detroit, USA for a connection onto Edinburgh Scotland. I believe we have to go through customs in Amsterdam. We have a 1 hr 45 minute lay over, is this enough time? We are on Delta out of Detroit / and partner KLM out of Amsterdam - and they just changed the flight time and narrowed our window lay over window, bit nervous this wont' be enough time now.

No, you do not have to go through Immigration or Customs in Amsterdam since you are not entering the Schengen Area. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Three of us are arriving from the US and will travel to Gent on the Thalys Train. If our plane lands at 9:05 AM, how much time should we allow to the Schiphol train platform? We will have carry-ons only, no checked luggage. Is it possible to purchase an open ticket for the train?

No, you can't purchase open tickets on Thalys. I wouldn't look at a train before noon.

I will arrive on October 21st, 2016 to Amsterdam Airport from Detroit with Delta Airlines, and I have only 55min to get to departure gate C14 to Berlin, I have checked the last flights arriving from Detroit with Delta and they all arrived to this Arrivals 3 area, which is in the opposite side of the gates C departures. Is it enough time? What can I do to make the transfer faster through the passport control?

Yes, that should be enough time.

    Thanks a lot!

hi My parents will be traveling from valencia to indonesia with KLM and have 1 hour to transfer in AMS. They are not familiar with the airport and only speak spanish, would this time be enough? Does anyone know how far the arrival gate would be from the departure ? Its same booking

They just have to go through Schengen Exit Passport control and to their departure gate. They have enough time. Amsterdam is very friendly to other language speakers since very few people speak Dutch.

I am flying to Durham Tees Valley UK, from Minneapolis with a 3 hour layover in Amsterdam. Will i have to go through customs and fill out a landing card in Amsterdam?

No, since you are not entering the Schengen Area, you just have to go through US Security questions and to your departure gate in Amsterdam.

    Thanks

  • Passport control

I arrive from Atlanta on Oct 8th and have a connecting flight to France that departs 55 min. from the time I arrive. I understand I have to go through passport control. Do I also retrieve and recheck bags? Is there an express line for such short connect times?

No, you do not have to do anything with your bags. It's unlikely there will be a like in October.

  • US-AMS-Lisbon transfer time

We'll be flying into AMS on delta from US, and get on a non-connecting flight through TAP Portugal to Lisbon. How much time should we allow for layover to pick up luggage, re-checkin, and go through schegen entry? Thank you!

I would want at least 3 hours.

    Thank you!!
