I will be flying into Amsterdam from Toronto. How long does it take to get through customs, pick up luggage, etc. My flight arrives at 10:15 and I need to get a bus to Movenpick. Also, how far in advance must you be at airport when flying out internationally for the return trip. Thank you for your assistance.
I will be arriving AMS on Delta from the U.S. My flight arrives at 9:05 a.m. and a driver is picking me up at 10:00 a.m. Will I be able to collect my baggage and go through customs in enough time?
Yes, that should be enough time.
Thank you for the quick response
I will be arriving on KLM from Canada and will connect with KLM to the UK. I want to stay at the YOTEL in the terminal. Will I need to go through passport control, either before or after my YOTEL stay?
No, the YOTEL is in the international transit area.
How long does it usually take to check in AMS if Schengen to Schengen?
You can theoretically show up an hour before the flight, but I'd recommend a little more time.

I have a U.S. passport that expires in July and I wanted to know if I'll have to go through customs/passport check when I layover at AMS...flying in from Cape Town...on my way back to the U.S. I'm confused about the 3 months/6 months rules. Thanks for any insight!
There will be no passport control in Amsterdam since you are not entering the Schengen Area.
I always tell my clients to renew if their passport is close to the 6 month mark. You won't have a problem in Amsterdam but you'll have a problem in Cape Town get on the first flight if they don't like the date on your passport.
Hi, I am flying from Toronto-schiphol-lagos, i am a Nigerian with "implied status" in Canada and still waiting on a decision to be made on an extension of my visa. Do i need an airport transit visa through schiphol? I have been getting conflicting information saying i do and the latest from consular officer Mrs mickey mclaughlin in Toronto say i do not need one if i have proof of my visa application, express entry profile application and receipts of payments which i have. would that work? Can i still board a flight in Toronto?
I am flying from Atlanta to Amsterdam on Delta and then to Copenhagen on KLM in early January. We have an 1 hour 45 minute layover. What will we have to do when we get to Amsterdam? Will we have to recheck bags or go through a passport check? And will we have enough time?
All you have to do is go through Schengen Entray Passport Control. You don't have to do anything with your bags. You have enough time.
I am traveling from DTW (USA) to KGL (Africa) with a 1 hr 55 min layover at AMS. I am flying Delta the entire way. Will I need to claim my checked baggage and go back through security/some sort of check-in at AMS, or will I only need to go through security with my carry on?
All you need to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Since you are coming from the US you don't have to go through security. You have enough time.
My flights lands from the US at 6AM can i make a 7:20AM connecting flight with only carry on? Do i need to go thru customs?
Are both flights on the same reservation? If not do you have checked bags?
Yes they are in the same reso and I have carry on only
Then yes, that is enough time. You just have to go through Schengen entry passport control and to your departure gate.
I am traveling from Atlanta to Amsterdam and then onto Cape Town. My first flight is Delta and my second is KLM but they were booked together. My layover is two hours. Will that be enough time and will I have to go through any sort of customs in Amsterdam?
Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Amsterdam is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no passport control because you are not entering the Schengen Area.
