  • What is the process for MSP to AMS to FCO
    Oct 31, 2014

I am traveling Delta from Minneapolis to AMS and then Air Italia to Rome. Will I need to collect my bags and go through customs in AMS or when I get to Rome. I have 90 minutes between flight in AMS: will this be enough time. Any help with the entire process would be helpful. Wehn I get to Rome I have 1 hour before I have to catch my transport to the hotel.

In Amsterdam you will go through Schengen Passport control and security. You won't have to do anything with your bags. You should have enough time.

I am flying from Bologa to AMS to Minneapolis I will have 1h 35 min. Will this be enough time to connect for me and my checked luggage?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will not have to do anything with your baggage in AMS.

My friend and I will arrive from the US 45 minutes apart at Schiphol airport. We won't have phones. Can anyone suggest a meeting spot that has places to sit down?

i will be arriving at AMS at 645 am from Kuala Lumpur. my second is to Aberdeen departing at 815 am. Both are KLM flights but the first is operated by Malaysian Airline MAS. Do I have enough time to catch the second flight with only 90 minutes since I need to get boarding pass and go through immigartion and security. thank you.

You will not have to go through Immigration since both Malaysia and the UK are outside the Schengen Area. You should be able to get your KLM boarding pass at the transfer desk if you don't already have it (since you bought both tickets together on a codeshare, Malaysian may be able to print it for you in KUL). You just have to go through security at your gate. You should have enough time.

  • AMS to Reggio tight connection

We arrive on a Saturday morning at 7.50 on Delta into AMS. Depart 8.40 to Reggio on Alitalia. We are sitting in front of plane with carry on luggage. Is this enough time? Are their terminal far? And is it possible to check in with Alitalia thru Delta in NYC? So we have all boarding passes? Thx!

Alitalia does not fly from Amsterdam to Reggio. In fact, no airline does. Are you flying to Rome or Milan first? Check your reservation. Were all your tickets bought on the same reservation?

It is Alitalia to linate Milan. So I'm coming from NYC to AMS on delta w carry on sitting in front of plane. And going to Milan on Alitalia with 50 minute connection. Seperate reservation. Just wondering if where delta usually lands and Alitalia takes off if they are close or far terminals in AMS from one another? Is KLM closer to Delta terminal? Haven't bought within ticket yet. But trying to get to Sicily early on day. Is KLM or Alitalia a faster connection in AMS? Thx!!

  • Enough time to change plane

I will be flying on 14 October 2013 from Budapest to the US and will have 1 hour and 30 minute connection in Amsterdam. Flight KL 1972-KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Departure Budapest HU 06:15 am, Arrival Ansterdam NL (Schiphol airoport) 08:20 Flight KL 1972-KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Departure Budapest HU 06:15 am, Arrival Ansterdam NL (Schiphol airoport) 08:20 Flight KL 1972-KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Departure Budapest HU 06:15 am, Arrival Ansterdam NL (Schiphol airoport) 08:20 Flight KL 1972-KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Departure Budapest HU 06:15 am, Arrival Amsterdam NL (Schiphol airoport) 08:20 Flight KL 601 -KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Departure Amsterdam NL 09:50, Arrival Los Angeles , CA Is that enough time to change plane (pass control, find the gate, change the terminal if will be necessary...)

You have enough time for transfer. You are considered a 'Schengen' (domestic) arrival at AMS. Look at overhead screens to find your connecting flight & gate number. As you will connect to a non-Schengen flight (to U.S.) the security check will be at the gate. Transfers desks in the arrivals area offer transfer information. On arrival at LAX, you need to go through passport check, pick up your bags and go through customs clearance before exiting the terminal.

I am arriving on KLM1000 from Heathrow at 09:05 and leaving to Kilimajaro on KLM571 at 10:00, is this enough time to transfer? Have been booked through an agent for work!

On Arrival at AMS: All passengers need to go through Passport Control - follow the signs for 'Baggage Hall' & 'Arrivals Hall'--if applicable; then go through passport control and poceed to the baggage belts in the baggage hall (ground level). Claim your bags & go through Customs for security check and re-check-in your bag. NOTE: Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. Departures 1 uses the B, C & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. (Arrivals 1 & 2 and Arrivals 3 & 4 are on opposite sides of the center.) Gate-to-Gate transfers: B & C gates are at the very right end of the bow-shaped terminal; north of it are the C gates arranged in a Y-shape; around the bend are the E gates, followed in the center by the F gates; right thereafter is entry to the G, H & M gates (G gates are to the right, H & M gates to the left). Walking time from the entry of B or C gates all the way over to the entry of G, H or M gates would take about 15 mins.

We're flying from the U.S. to Zurich through Amsterdam. When we arrive at Schiphol on Delta, can we go directly to our KLM flight or will we have to go through customs first? We only have and hour to get off the Delta flight and onto the KLM flight. Also, does anyone know if Delta and KLM are in the same terminal or close to each other? Thanks in advance!!

On arrival at AMS, follow signs to 'Arrivals Hall'; then go through passport control and poceed to the baggage belts in the baggage hall (ground level). Claim your bags & go through Customs for security check; proceed to the arrivals hall through the green passageway to the Arrivals hall - I am not sure, however, if this applies to passengers continuing their journey. If so, you would need to take the escalator up to the Departures level; go through security check & on to your gate. Arrivals 1 & 2 areas lead up to Departures 1 & 2; and Arrivals 3 & 4 lead up to Departure 3. Departures 1 uses the B, C & D gates; Departures 2 uses the E gates; Departure 3 uses F, G, H & M gates. (Arrivals 1 & 2 and Arrivals 3 & 4 are on opposite sides of the center.)
