  • AVL Airport Overview
Asheville Regional Airport AVL is located about 10 miles south of the city of Ashville, North Carolina, in Buncombe County (close to I-26 and Hwy. 74), at an elevation of approx 2,200 feet. Ashville Regional Airport is served by a number of major airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe. At present the passenger terminal offers a TDD phone, a cell phone charger (at fee), food, beverage and news concessions, a business center with private desk areas and free internet access and electrical outlets, rental cars, and a ground transportation desk located in the baggage claim area, which can help you get available taxis, limos and vans getting you to your destination. Short- and Long-term Parking Lots are across from the passenger terminal (short-term: first 20 mins free; long-term: first 5 mins free).

Renovation constructions are underway and include: a new, larger A-Gate area (to be relocated to the lower level), a revamped security checkpoint, new post-security concessions, additional offices and storage, and more. Completion is scheduled for Summer 2010. Also underway is the parking lot and Terminal Drive rehabilitation, including toll plaza renovations, and improvements to the General Aviation roadway.

NOTICE: As of August 2009 all flights depart from the B-Gate area, as the A-Gates undergo complete renovation. Also, the security checkpoint will be under construction and passengers should arrive at least 90 minutes before their departure to allow enough time for check-in and security.
