Asheville Regional AVL Airport Overview

Asheville Regional Airport AVL - situated at an elevation of approximately 2,200 feet - has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and serves the Buncombe County area of North Carolina. 

The Airport is located about 10 miles south of the city of Ashville, in western North Carolina (close to Interstate Hwy 26 and Hwy. 74) and is directly accessible by NC Hwy 280 / Airport Road or Fanning Bridge Road.

With an estimated 726,000 pasengers in 2011, Ashville Regional Airport is served by some major airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe. As of November 15, 2012, Allegiant Airlines offers twoweekly flight to Fort Lauderdale.

The passenger terminal at Asheville Regional Airport has been renovated and offers an array of services. (For detailed terminal information, click on 'Terminal Map'.) 

If you pick up a passenger at the Airport, use the new Cell Phone Waiting Lot (located down the hill from the passenger terminal), where you can stay as long as needed. Stay with your car until your party has collected bags and calls you to be picked up at the curb.  Alternatively, park in the short-term lot  for up to 40 mins (presently $1.50).

Other parking options at AVL Airport:
Short- and Long-term Parking Lots are across from the passenger terminal. On approach a signs directs you (to the left - Long-term lot; straight ahead - Short-term lot. There is also an overflow lot nearby. Disabled parking is available in the short-term lot at long-term raes.
You pay when exiting the lot with your car. Cash, traveler's checks & major credit cards are accepted.
If you plan to park for more than 30 days stop by the Exit Plaza or call 828-209-2125 for arrangements.

Rental car counters for some major agencies are located i the baggage claim area of the passenger terminal; the rental car lot is adjacent to the terminal.

To get from Asheville Regional Airport to your destination you can rent a car, take a taxi or a bus:
The Apple Country Blue Route (The Link) offers hourly service from the Airport to Fletcher & on to Hendersonvile. 
The frequent Asheville Transit Route 6 bus takes you to downtown Asheville.
