Bergen Airport Flesland BGO
is Norway’s second-largest airport, seving the City of Bergen and its surroundings.
BGO Airport is located in the town of Fresland, 20 km southwest of the City of Bergen.. To get there by car, follow road 580/ E39 towards Flesland from Bergen center (a non-rush-hour 30-minute ride).
With a long runway and 5.9M million passengers in 2016, Bergen Airport is served by domestic and international airlines offering direct flights to numerous destinations with worldwide connections. The busiest route is to Oslo, which offers a large number of daily flights.
The on-Airport Clarion Hotel Bergen Airport,
a 4 star hotel, known for its design and its lunch buffet, is close to the passenger terminal.
- The new Scandic Flesland Airport Hotel
is under construction - adjacent to the new terminal - with 300 rooms, restaurant & fiess center, 25 meeting rooms and a 1,000 sq.meter convention facility - is to open April 2017.
As of February 2017 - Norwegian Air offers seasonal flights to two U.S. airports Providence & Newburg Stewart.
Bergen Airport has currently two terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) and a Helicopter Terminal (T2) - (with T3 under construction.)*
NOTE: Avinor, the Airport Operator, has recently increased securty check capacity at all its major airpors, as well asaddeing automaic solutions for check-in, baggage management, ticket control & boarding; and include new service area faclities and special family services.
Present & Future Airport Developments:
- *A new Domestic Terminal
(T3) southeast of T1 is under construction, with six airline gates equipped with jet bridges will increase Airport capacity to 10M passengers annually. As of the end of March 2017, it was reported that it has everything in place for the testing period, upon completion of which the Terminal wil officially open August 17, 2017.
- To improve public transport to/from city center, a light rail station will be available at the new Terminal
