Bordeaux-Merignac BOD Airport Overview

Bordeaux-Merignac Airport BOD serves the Gironde region of south-west France and is the country's sixth largest and fastest-growing airport, with plenty of room for extension.

BOD Airport is located in the town of Merignac and is 10 km south of the city of Bordeaux. The ring road around the greater Bordeaux area passes Merignac - exit 11b leads west to the Airport.

With two runways and an about 4.4 million passengers annually, Bordeaux Merignac Airport is served by national and international, regular & low-cost airlines offering direct and connecting flights to Europe and beyond.  Seasonal charter flights to popular vacation destinations are also available. 

NOTE:   European citizens traveling to France: As of November 11, 2015 they will again need to have either an identity card valid for foreign travel or a valid passport.

Merinac Airport has one integrated passenger terminal and the 'billi' Terminal for low-cost airlines - reopened May 2015 after considerable extension work.

Present and future airport developments:  With an average of a 10 percent gain in yearly passenger counts since 2009 (estimated to exceed the 5.5 Million mark by year-end 2016), a new project - already State-approved and expected to be completed by 2019-2020 - includes modernizing Halls A & B and building a connector between them; upgrades to accesss roads; new carpark;  a forecourt for arriving tram - as well as consolidation of airline carriers management.
