Brasilia Kubitschek BSB Airport Overview
Brasilia Kubitschek International Airport BSB is now the third-largest Airport in Brazil & Latin America, named after a former President. Due to its central location, the Airport is also the civil aviation hub for Brazil. Brasilia Airport is situated between the National Park of Brasilia to the north and the Zoological park to the south, with a large lake to the east. Smaller airports within a 163-261 km range are: Santa Genoveva, Niquelandia, Caldas Novas, Catalao & Cana Brava airports.
Kubitschek Airport is located 11 km from downtown Brasilia, the the Federal District of Brazil, in the State of Goias, and is accessible via the Rodovia do Aeroporto, off the Eixao (Sul) motorway.
NOTE: The Airport is now operated by a consortium named 'Inframerica' (tel. +55 61 3214 6798), which is to invest R$2.5 million over the next 25 years, upgrading & expanding the Airport and increasing passenger capacity gradually to 41 million a year (see below).
With two long runways and nearly 16 million passengers in 2012, Brasilia International Airport is served by domestic and international airlines offering direct and connecting flights to all points of the globe. GOL Transportes & Ocean Air serve mainly South America, while GermanWings flies to a number of German cities and TAP Air Portugal flies to Lisbon. Delta has scheduled flights to Atlanta, and American Airlines has flights to Miami.
The closest hotel to the Airport is the Nobile Lake Side Convention & Restort hotel l(tel. 8866 538 0317), located 3.7 miles from the Airport.

To get from Brasilia International Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi, or a bus: Bus 102 runs to the main bus station in central Brasilia and takes 30 mins. Mini-buses 11 & 30 run also to the central bus station, where you can change to long-distance buses.
Present and Future Airport Developments: In preparation of the 2014 World Cup, some of following projects are being undertaken:
Terminal 1's expansion work should be mostly completed.
Terminal 2 will be extended and a new terminal 3 with 2 piers and 15 gates will be added. Access bridges to the air carriers will increase from 13 to 28.
Parking spaces will double to 3,000 & a new access road will be built .
Amenities & Services to be added: A shopping mall featuring entertainment, leisure, restaurants and hospitality options; free Wi-Fi with without password or access restrictions; self-checkin CUSS system kiosks; baggage dropoff merged with baggage handling system; a new banking area; single boarding location & expanded security checkpoints expediting clearance; a people mover connecting terminal to piers; and a large VIP lounge.
