Bratislava MR Stefanika BTS Airport Overview

Bratislava  M.R. Stefanika Airport BTS is an international Airport serving the small country of Slovakia.
The Airport is located 9 km northeast of Bratislava Castle, in the city of Bratislava, and is within a one-hour drive from Vienna in Austria, Brno in the Czech Republic, and Gyor in Hungary, thereby covering a catchment area of four countries. The Airport is accessible from Highway D1 via a short access road.  

With two long runways and an estimated 1.7 million passengers in 2012, the Airport is served by a host of domestic and international, regular and low-fare airlines offering direct and connecting flights throughout Europe, as well as by charters to popular vacation destinations.

Bratislava Airport has a new passenger terminal which was under reconstruction since 2008, was completed in July 2012.  It now has a capacity of handling 5 million passengers a year.  Its ground level is the Arrivals level for  both Schengen & non-Schengen areas with baggage carousels.  On level 2, pre- & post-security areas are inter-connected and easily navigable.This level is intended to house Airport operations, airline offices and retail shops.  On level 3 is the pre-flight area with retail sce and fast-food restaurants.  Levels 4 and 5 are not accessible to passengers.

Amenities and services inside the terminal include free WiFi access, charging stations for electronic devices, a 'Kids Corner', duty-free shops, showers, Information desks, Post office, currency exchange & ATM machines, mother & child room, food & drink establishments, as well as shops, conference room, rental car desks and  a Schengen & non-Schengen business lounge.
 
Parking options at at Bratislava Airport: Parking  is available in the large parking lot in front of the Departure terminal A, with 970 spaces, operated by Airport Parking (tel. +421 2 3303 6261). Payment can be made in cash at the automatic cash machine located inside the parking area and at the Arrivals terminal B, or in cash or by major credit cards directly at the parking lot’s check-out counter.
 
To get from Bratislava Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi, a bus or a train:
(a) the taxi stands are in front of thee Arrivals Terminal B and Terminal C, or you can call directly the MB Taxi at 16916, or Taxi Bratislava at 16 222.
(b) Public transportation bus line No. 61 runs during day time between the airport and the city center with a stop at the main railway station; the night bus line is N61. Bus No. 96 operates from Petrzalka. Terravision and Blaguss buses also operate from the Airport to Vienna, while Slovak Lines & Austrian Postbus jointly offer a few daily departures to Vienna. Slovak Lines also serves destinations around Slovakia.
