Cancun International Airport Passenger Terminals and Procedures for a Connecting Flight:
It is suggested that you arrive at the Airport for domestic flights 2 hours, and for international flights three hours piror to scheduled departure.
Cancun International Airport has three passenger terminals - T1, T2 and T3. They are not connected, but served by a free shuttle bus.
Terminal 1 is presently under renovation and closed. It served mainly charters, which are currently served by Terminal 2
Terminal 2 serves all domestic and some international airlines. It has in the main building's lower level gates B12-22 and in the Satellite building gates A1-A11 on the upper level); The A & B gates are connected by walkway. Terminal 2 is being expanded - work to be completed in 2013
Terminal 3 serves mostly air traffic to North America & Europe. It has gates C23-C37). Terminal 3 will start with expansion work after completion of expanding Terminal 2.
(Terminal 4 is to open 2015)
Amenities and services inside the terminals: Terminal 2 offers food & drink establishments, shops & duty-free shop, American Express, VIP Business Lounge, Aeromexico & Mexicana VIP Lounges, Value drugstore, baggage wrapping, ATM, internet access, and access to the gates.
Terminal 3 offers many food & drink establishments, shops & a duty-free shop, American Express, VIP Business Lounge, Value Drugstore, baggage wrapping, internet access, & ATM machine.
Lockers are available from 'Mexicana de lockers de Sureste (local tel. 998 734 8052). For Lost & Found call 8 48 7200 Ext. 1221.
Connecting flights:
On an international arrival at the Airport you must go through immigration & customs first. If your connecting flight is by the same airline, simply walk over to the Terminal 2; if it is a different airline, you need to claim your luggage first before proceeding to the Terminal 2 and check it in there.
An unscheduled shuttle bus runs forth and back between the terminals, as needed.
As weekends and weekday hours 10am--4pm are particularly busy times at the airport, allow yourself plenty of time.
