  • Pick up in Charlotte ?
    Aug 5, 2015
Hi, we are travelling to Paris from Orlando with a stop at Charlotte airport with only one hour left before our correspondance to Paris. At Charlotte airport, do we have to pick up our lugages and recheck once again ? (Which seems very few in order to go through the whole process of checking plus customs)

No, you do not have to pick up your luggage in Charlotte on your way to Paris. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

my family will take an US airways flight from ARUBA to CHARLOTTE then CHARLOTTE ROME.. should we claim the baggage in charlotte ? or my baggage will go on the next plane without customs in charlotte and receive directly at the destination?

Aruba has US Immigration and Customs preclearance. You will pre-clear there and your arrival into Charlotte will be like a domestic flight. You will not have to claim your baggage. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • First Flight Ever!
    Feb 2, 2015
This will be my first flight ever taken. I will be by myself. Im going from CLT to AVP with a connecting flight from DTW. Where should I go? What do i even look for? Can i have my luggage with me on the planes or do i have to pay for baggage? When I arrive to an airport where do i go? Can some one help me?!?!?!

You can have baggage in the cabin but it is subject to size restictions. Those size restrictions are listed on Delta's website. The plane you will fly from Charlotte to Detroit will have large enough overhead bins to store the bags that meet those restrictions, but the plane to Wilkes-Barre will be smaller and will not be able to carry them in their overhead bins. For that flight your carry-ons that don't fit under the seat in front of you will be "gate checked" at the gate in DTW and then returned to you at the gate in Wilkes-Barre. Alternatively, if you want to pack a bag larger than the carry-on allowable size, you can check it. You will have to pay a fee when you check it in Charlotte and will claim it at the Baggage Claim in Wilkes-Barre. You can check-in for your flights online at before your trip so that you will have all your boarding passes before you go to the airport. If you do not have baggage to check and you print out your boarding passes at home you can go straight to the security checkpoint in Charlotte. Then you will look at the monitors or the Delta app on your phone and it will tell you what departure gate to go to. When you get to Detroit you will simply look at the monitors or the Delta app to tell you where your flight to Wilkes Barre will depart from and walk there.

it is extremely difficult to first of all, find a phone number for US Airways lost & found, which is apparently different than the airport...then when i finally did find one, there is no person to talk to. You have to leave a voice mail. Surprise! The voice mail box is full. SOOOOO Frustrating! I know there are a lot of people that travel through Charlotte airport so this area can be very busy. But please make it easier.

  • Little Time

Hi, We arrive on 6:55 in Charlotte from Tampa and have to get the flight at 7:50 to Munich, Germany and our luggage is already in Charlotte so we have to pick That up. Do you think we can get our flight?

If you actually have to exit the secure area to get some bagage it might be a bit tough.

  • Worried about connection time (1 hour)
    Aug 15, 2014
PLane USAir lands form houston 13:41, need to catch Asheville 15:28 flight, will that be enough time for connection (passport control, luggage colleciton required?) Thanks

You do not have to go through passport control or baggage collection on Domestic flights. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time. All gates at CLT are connected inside security.
