  • Long Enough Layover?
    Jun 2, 2015
We have a flight from Newark, NJ leaving departing at 6:15 AM and arriving in Charlotte, NC at 8:04 AM. Our connecting flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica leaves at 9:25 AM. Should I worry about delays/will we have enough time to make the Jamaica flight? I am so worried and just want this vacation to be perfect... Thanks for the help.

FYI we are flying American Airlines.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time or even up to 45 minutes late you should still have plenty of time to make your connection. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Layover Time From Aruba through CLT
    May 12, 2015
Our layover in CLT coming from Aruba is 1 hr 20 minutes. Is this enough time to make our flight? It's at 10 p.m on a Wednesday night. If we check a bag do we have to claim it at customs, or will it be checked through to Norfolk? Would it be better to do carry-ons?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Aruba. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. your bags will be transferred for you

  • Enough time with layover?
    Apr 19, 2015
Hello, I am leaving Cleveland, Ohio for Mexico on Wednesday and on our way home from Mexico, our connecting flight is at CLT. We only have an hour and 21 minutes! I am worried that this will not be enough time to get our checked bag, get through customs and TSA, and then deal with checking bags again and get to our flight in time to board. Does anybody have any advice or experience with around the same amount of time during layovers? Thanks in advance!!

That is only 9 minutes shorter than the minimum recommended time and Charlotte is not a congested airport. I think you will have enough time as long as your first flight is on-time.

I will fly from JFK to DTW which would change airline from US Airways to American Airlines in CLT. Do I need pick up my luggage and check in again in CLT?

If you purchase all your flights in one reservation, then no, you will not have to claim your bags in Charlotte.

  • Flying from Orlando to Dublin and back
    Feb 9, 2015
Hi, I am booking a flight from Orlando to Dublin in May. I usually fly with United connecting in Newark, however, there are no flights available for my travel dates. So, I am probably going to book with American Airlines. My question is: From Orlando to Charlotte there is a 1 hour and 33 min layover (May 9) and from Dublin to Charlotte there is a 1 hour and 44 min layover...will this be enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time.

67 mins probably isn't enough time for an international to domestic connection at CLT.

Arriving from Montreal on tuesday at 10:22 am with US Airways , connecting flight to Cancun leaves 11.30 am. 1hr. 08 minute layover is it enough?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All gates at Charlotte are connected inside security and you will pre-clear US Immigration in Montreal.
