Is an 80 minute layover long enough to catch a connecting flight on American from Montego Bay Jamaica to Washington, DC via CLT?

My family is flying from Minneapolis to Key West with a transfer at CLT. We only have 39 minutes. We are flying in on American but flying to Key west on republic airlines as american eagle. Will we have enough time?

Yes, if your flight from Minneapolis is on-time that is enough time. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Connecting Flight

My daughter is flying from Boston to Tallahassee and has a layover at CLT. Her flight arrives at 12:20 and her connecting flights leaves at 1:15. She is flying alone (16 yrs old)and I wondered if it was going to be difficult for her to find the terminal for her connecting flight. She has never been to this airport. Are all of the American Airlines flights in the same area?

Charlotte only has one terminal and American uses almost the entire airport. She has enough time. All she has to do is follow signs from her arrival gate to her departure gate.

Our flight leaves Cleveland at 7 a.m. and arrives in Charlotte at 8:37 a.m. The flight to St. Maarten departs at 9:40 a.m. This sounds kind of tight. Is 63 minutes enough time to do this, and hope our luggage makes it with us. This is all with American Airlines. Thanks.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Is 24 minutes enough time to make this connection? The more direct question is: if the AA domestic and AA internation terminals are one and the same. Thanks for the help!

Charlotte only has one terminal. You can make this if your first flight is on-time and you run.

My husband and I are planning a December trip to Dominican Republic in December returning the 21st the flight I am looking at only has a 1:35 to get through customs and catch the next flight. Should I be concerned?

That is possible, but doesn't leave much time to spare if the first flight is delayed.

Hi, A group of us will be flying into charlotte (february 28th) from Nassau and only have 70 minutes in between charlotte and chicago. Will this give us enough time to get thru customs and onto our flight to chicago? Thanks

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Nassau. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

I am looking at a connecting flight from Louisville through Charlotte and then onto London. It states the layover is only 53 minutes. I noticed you posted there is a minimum 90 minute layover on a previous post. Is that only for incoming flights.

Yes that is only for inbound international flights. When leaving the US all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

  • Is 50 minutes from landing to departure enough?

Hi! With all this crazy weather, my flight had to be rebooked. I had to do it over the phone, and I forgot to ask how long the layover was. I arrive at 8:34 and take off at 9:15...is that enough time to transfer flights?

Sorry, to edit that post. I'm pretty sure I'll land in concourse E and fly out of concourse C if that helps.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that is enough time. You can walk between most gates at CLT in less than 15 minutes.

I am looking at a flight from London to New Orleans, via Charlotte, will the 90 minutes connection time be sufficient to clear costoms and get to the gate?

90 minutes is the minimum allowed time. So it should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hi I am looking at flights with BA from London to Knoxville, they offer a flight connecting through Charlotte with 1 hour 55 minutes between flights. I believe we have to go through passport control and customs in charlotte. Does this leave us enough time to collect luggage and check it in and get to where we need to be for the domestic flight?

Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from London is on-time. Note that both flights will be operated by American Airlines/American Eagle.

Arrive CLT 1828, Jan 21 from GCM. Depart CLT 2005 to PHL. Carry on only. Please advise if time allotted is adequate. Thank you

With carry-on only that should definitely be doable if the flight from Grand Cayman is on-time.

Thank you ZAP. It appears that both arriving and departing CLT fights are in Terminal D. Where is passport control and customs located in relation to Terminal D.

Charlotte only has one terminal. D is a concourse and immigration and customs is located below it.

  • Minimum connection time international to domestic

Where can I find an official listing of the minimum connection time for international to domestic flights in Charlotte. Airline changed my flights from 3hour connection time to 1 hour 15 minutes. Airline insists this is a "legal" connection.

It's certainly possible. Where are you flying afterwards? Maybe there is no later flight and that's why they don't want to offer you one.

That's correct. There is no later flight now that the schedule is changed. I purchased new return flights on another airline with longer connection time and asked for a refund from original airline. They refused stating 1 hr 15 minutes was a legal connection. I'm just trying to find out where you got the 90 minute International to domestic MCT previously mentioned in this forum in order to make a stronger argument for a refund.

You are entitled to a refund in any instance where there is a substantial schedule change, even if the resulting itinerary is "legal" this is covered under American's contract of carriage under the section "Involuntary Refunds: In the event the refund is required because of American's failure to operate on schedule or refusal to transport, the following refund will be made directly to you." http://www.aa.com/i18n/customerService/customerCommitment/conditionsOfCarriage.jsp?anchorLocation=DirectURL&title=conditionsofcarriage#minimumcheckintimes

  • Stop over time

I plan on flying from Boston to Pensecola with a connection at CLT. Going out there is 1.30 stop over returning only 53 mins. Is this enough time? I have arthritic knees so am slow walking.

I have 43 minutes in CLT to connect from an American airlines flight from NYC to a PSA Airlines flight to Knoxville. Is that enough time?

Yes, both of you should have enough time.

  • Do I have enough time to change planes.

My plane from Myrtle Beach arrives at 10:20am. The flight to Philadelphia departs at 11:15. Is that enough time to get from one terminal to another?

Charlotte only has one Terminal. You should have plenty of time if your flight from Myrtle Beach is on-time.
