My layover between two domestic American airline flights is it enough? No check-in luggage. Do I need to get security clearance again?

You do not have to go through security. All gates in Charlotte are connected inside security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time as long as your first flight is on-time.

coming in from Montego bay Jamicia and have one hour and 17 minutes lay over to Ohare airport is this enough time to go threw customs and tsa check in

The minimum recommended International to Domestic connection time at Charlotte is 90 minutes. 77 minutes may be possible, but it's risky.

Hey! I will arrive in Charlotte at 1015 pm from aruba and my flight to NY leaves at 1155 pm. Will I make it or? It seems a little short on time.

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigraiton and customs in Aruba. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Enough time to clear Customs, Immigration, etc.?
    Oct 31, 2015
We'll arrive in CLT on 11/21 at 4:46 PM from SXM (if we're on time). Will need to clear Immigration, get baggage, then thru Customs and get to our connecting flight to ROC for a 5:55 PM flight. I don't know gates yet, but I fear we're cutting it close. Any ideas or thoughts on this?

Yes, you are cutting it close. That's over 20 minutes shorter than the recommended international to domestic connection time at CLT. However, it will be saturday evening so lines should be short. Also there is no possible rebooking available on AA to get you to Rochester from Charlotte that evening. So I guess I would just be prepared to spend the night in Charlotte if you miss your connection.

Flying from RDU to CLT by Amerian Airlines and then CLT to Frankfurt, Germany by Iberia(Operated by American). I have 1h 27m for transfering in CLT. Is the time enough for transfering?? Do I have to re-check my luggage??

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security. You don't have to do anything with your baggage in Charlotte on your way to Frankfurt. You have plenty of time.

That should be plenty of time. You can walk between your gates in less than 20 minutes.

  • Will 53 minutes be enough time?
    Dec 30, 2015
Will be arriving in Terminal C Gate 16 and transferring to Terminal E Gate 10. Is 53 minutes enough time for this transfer assuming my incoming flight is on time?

Charlotte only has one terminal. All gates are connected inside security. Yes, if your first flight is domestic that is enough time.

  • Worried about layover time and customs
    Dec 29, 2015
I'm flying in from Ottawa, Canada to Charlotte then from Charlotte to Miami. I'm flying US Airways all the way but my layover time is only 43 minutes. Do I go through customs in Ottawa or Charlotte, and if I have to go through customs in Charlotte, do I have enough time to go through customs and make my connecting flight? Also, do I need to re-claim my bags in Charlotte and re-check them in?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Ottawa. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time./

  • LHR - CLT - MCO Connection Query
    Dec 9, 2014
We are arriving into CLT from London UK, connecting to MCO (Orlando FL) next March. We have a 90 minute connection time. Is this sufficient as our agent says it will be on US Airways saying that 60 minutes would be the minimum requirement, but I am not so sure

Yes, it should be enough time. You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. CLT is the smallest and simplest of the international hubs in the US.

  • Concerned about connection time & customs

We're travel on a Saturday in March from New Orleans to Charlotte, then catching a connecting flight to St. Lucia. We only have about one hour between arrival at CLT and departure for St. Lucia. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. CLT is not a very large airport and you only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Arriving Charlotte on US Air from St Kitts on Sunday at 8.49pm transferring to a Washington (US Air express) flight departing 10.09pm. Am a Brit citizen. Will this be enough time. Do I have to pick up baggage and re-check. I understand the Washington flight is the last of the day

It's 10 minutes below the minimum connection time but you should be OK as Charlotte is not a large airport and immigration lines should be quite short at that time of day. Yes, you will have to claim your bags after going through Immigration, then go through Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk.

We are flying in from Jamaica into Charlotte tomorrow afternoon. Is an hour and 25 min enough time to get through customs, recheck our bags, security and get to our next flight??

    Yes, it should be.

  • Connection Time just shortened by airline
    Nov 20, 2014
We are flying with US Airways on Dec. 27 from DTW to MSY with a connection in CLT. This is our first time in CLT, first connecting flight, and first time with US Airways. Originally we had a one hour layover in CLT, but it has just been reduced to 34 minutes. Is it worth trying to make this connection, or should I try to change my flight now? If we miss the connection, how hard is it to get onto the next flight to MSY? Any advice from more seasoned fliers is appreciated. Thanks.

34 minutes is not long but it will depend on what gate you fly into and out of. I had to go from Gate E to Gate A and it was brutal, they are on opposite ends of the terminal. I started out on US Airways but unfortunately had to connect with AA. If your solo and in good shape you'll be fine, if you have children I would rethink it.

Flying US Airways from Wilmington to Punta Cana with an 80 minute layover. Are the international gates in a different part of the airport than domestic flights. How long to walk from one to the other?

Your transfer time is sufficient. US Airways uses Concourses/Gates B, C, D & E - simply check the overhead screens for your connecting flight & gate number, then follow signs to your Concourse & gate.

Your connection shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.
