Hi, We are flying from Dulles International Airport (IAD) to CLT where it's our layover to go to Aruba. However, our layover is only 36minutes. Can we and our checked luggage make it on time? It would be very disappointing if we don't get our luggage at our final destination. Our flight info is as follow: 9:25am from Dulles arriving in CLT at 10:54am - 11:30am from CLT and arriving at 3:35 in AUA. Thank you.

Yes, that is enough time if the flight from IAD is on-time.

  • Gate check bags

How long does CLT usually take with gate checked bags? I have a 40 min layover but sometimes at dfw this is not long enough due to waiting on the bag or I make it to my next flight as the last one on and have to check my bag. Should I just check from the beginning?

CLT is generally pretty good, but obviously that is highly variable. CLT is a lot smaller than DFW.

How much time do we need to check in and get thru the check point on July 2

Hi, Friday 24. June we arrive at Charlotte from Cancun 18.40, and our flight to London is at 20.20. Will this be enough time? Thanks

That's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

my 16yr old grandson will be flying from Tampa to Dublin via CLT with a 56 minute layover is this too tight for an inexperienced traveler on an international flight?

Yes, that is enough time. All he has to do in charlotte is walk from his arrival gate to his departure gate.

I'm arriving 6:52am from CHS connecting at 7:30am to SFO. Is this enough time to make the connection?

Yes, that is enough time if the flight from Charleston is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thank you very much!

I have 1:35 minute delay from MBJ (Jamaica) into CLT. Is this enough time to make my connection?

Its an afternoon flight on a Monday if that helps...

You mean you have 1 hr 35 minutes to make your connection? That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Will a connection time of 45 minutes be sufficient ? I travel from Gainesville, Florida to Lubbock, Texas.

Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Will we make connecting flight?

We fly into CLT from Cancun tomorrow at 6:40, will we have enough to time to get off plane, customs, security, etc and make connecting flight in one hour? Called customer service, they said yes....

I really doubt that's enough time. Prepare to spend the night at CLT if there isn't a later flight to your destination.

Hello returning from my US trip from San Antonio to Toronto at the end , looking at a flight with a 43 minute minute connection with American what is the scene like there do I just need to walk a little bit to the next gate or pass security again ? Thanks from 9:27-10:10 PM

You just walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

  • 53 min layover

Hi, I have a layover in CLT going to CANCUN from ATL. It's a 53 min layover (we get in at like 6:50 AM) and I see I land in Concourse C, but depart form Concourse B. I was curious if this is enough time to get over there? Wanted to make sure it wasn't like our airport in ATL where you have to get on a train and all that stuff. Thanks!

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Good evening We are looking to fly from London Heathrow to Fort Myres and have a stop in Charlotte Douglas airport, at the moment the only flight we can find gives us 2 hours between the 2 flights, would you think this would be enough time to disembark, claim Bags, clear customs and check bags back in for flight to fort Myres Thank you Darren

That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thank you, will book the flight and hopefully all goes well. It's myself wife and our little one travelling hope this flight works as we are really limited by choice of flights to get to fort Myres that time of year without having big stop overs or long flights or it costing the earth.

Yes, Fort Myers is only popular with American tourists during the winter and spring - during the summer most find it too hot, so there are very few flights there during the summer and fall.

  • Can I make my connection?

I am on an American Airlines flight arriving at 6:51PM on Weds 6/22. My connecting flight to SFO leaves at 7:55PM. Can I get through customs and make my flight? We are in first class, row 1 so we will be the first off the plane. American Airlines customer service says I fly into C gates, and leave out of a D gate. I can switch to a later flight, but don't want to if I can make the first flight.

Where are you arriving from? I can't answer your question without that info.

We will be coming from Turks and Caicos. (PLS) one hour will be tight. We are first class on both flights. It will help to be the first off our flight. What are your thoughts about our chances on making the connecting flight? I talked to American Airlines customer service, and they said they wouldn't have booked me like this if they did not think we could make the connecting flight. (Whatever that is worth from a customer service agent)

Yeah, flying first class it's not impossible, especially arriving in the evening on a wednesday when immigration shouldn't be crowded. It obviously leaves no time to spare.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your opinion. After getting your response, we are going to chance it snd see if we can make our connection.

Hi, i am travelling from Bangalore to CVG. i have layovers at london, Newyark and CLT. i got to know that i have to clear immigration at new yark, as it is the port of entry. my question is when i start from new yark to CVG, i have layover at CLT; at CLT do i need to check in once again to get the boarding pass? alos, i have 90 mins layover at CLT, will that be fine enough to catch the connecting flight to CVG? I am travelling by AA for the whole trip. thanks in Advance

In CLT all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • Tight connection in CLT... Will my Luggage make it?
    Jun 5, 2016

I fly Saturday morning 18 June from DC to Caymans with a 58 minute connection in CLT. I am worried about my dive gear making it from the DCA flight to the CLT to Caymans flight... any Advice on how to increase my odds??

That should be enough time. If you're really worried you can pack your essential gear in your carry-on. Your regulator and mask shouldn't take up too much space and if you really wanted to you could probably make space for a wetsuit.

Thanks.. I always carry-on my computer, mask, regulator, a wet suit, and a couple of changes of shorts/tees, but cannot fit my BC, flippers, etc. Will gate agents call down to the baggage handlers to confirm my checked bag transferred to my connection?

No, that's probably not something that their workload would give them time to do.
