My daughter is flying into CLT at 8:46 am on Piedmont Airlines dba US Airways Express and departing at 9:45 on US Airways. Will she stay in the same terminal? Will she have enough time? This will be her first time flying.

Charlotte only has one terminal. All she has to do is walk from her arrival gate to her departure gate.

When will I know what her arrival and departure gates are?

On the day of her flight.

  • Domestic to International transfer times

Hi, I'm traveling US Airways on Sunday arriving from Orlando at 17:12 and departing flight to UK London, 18:45. I'm checking in baggage at Orlando, will I need to go through US immigration, reclaim and recheck at Charlotte? And is that enough time to catch the UK bound flight? Thanks..

hello, I'm arriving from London into Charlotte with a turn around time of 1.25mins flying into Fort Myers saying with US Airways all the way but know this could a differnt airline on their behind. is this enough time

    apologies, their behalf

SARB, No, you do not go through US Customs when you leave the US and you won't have to do anything with your bags in Charlotte. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, you should have plenty of time.

Yes, Gin, both flights will be operated by US Airways. That should be enough time but it doesn't leave much if any time to spare if the flight from London arrives late.

  • traveling from raleigh to miami
    Apr 12, 2015
I am leaving raleigh at 12:45pm this coming friday and i arrive in ctl at 1:45pm my connecting flight leaves at 2:20pm. My question is will I be able to make it to my gate in time seeing as thought it is such a short time frame between flights

That should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All gates at Charlotte are connected inside security.

  • Grand cayman return flight - customs
    Apr 8, 2015
Arriving at 434pm on a Friday coming back from the Cayman Islands and my connecting flight back to Knoxville is at 605pm. My wife and I are debating on trying to get everything into a couple of carry ons. Is this enough time to make it through immigration and customs and recheck a bag to get to the connection? Us air is our carrier. Is the area to recheck the bag close to customs? Thanks, we have never come back in through Clt before.

Yes, the re-check desk is right after customs. That should be enough time even if you check a bag. Of course not checking a bag saves you some time if there are delays.

  • Enough time to transfer?
    Apr 8, 2015
I am looking at arriving in Charlotte from Rome, then traveling on another airline with a different ticket to North Dakota. US passport. Is 65 minutes enough time to transfer?

NO! That is not nearly enough time for an International to Domestic transfer on two separate tickets. You need at LEAST 2 hours.

  • Boston to Cancun
    Apr 13, 2015
I am flying from BOS to Cancun, Mexico. I have a 45 minute layover in CLT. This will be my first time at CLT airport. Will I have to go through security again? I will only have a carry on. Will I be able to make my flight to Mexico?

No, you will not have to go through security. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi, I will be flying into CLT from IAD and will have to change planes for Cancun, Mexico. There is 37 minutes between flights. Is that enough time? Are the gates nearby or how far are the two gates from each other? If the first flight is slightly delayed will they hold up the second flight since both are with US airways?

  • Help please
    Mar 28, 2015
Hey, I have a flight next week from London Heathrow to Columbus with 1 stop in Charlotte. Im spanish living in London, but still with spanish passport. Do I have to go through Us immigation and claim my bags then check them again and go get my plane.. in 1 hour and 20 minutes that I have? Its my first time stopping in another city, Im very lost. Need some help please, Thank you.

    Travelling with US airways.

Yes, upon arrival in Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. You will then go through security and to your departure gate. Be sure to complete ESTA before your trip. 80 minutes is 10 minutes below the minimum recommended time for an international to domestic connection.

I'll just run! Hope to have enough time to do it all. Thank you very much for your help x

  • Connections

I will fly into clt on delta and will need to get to a U.S. air flight. Is there transport between terminals? I've looked at the map of the gates and it seems to be all under one roof. Is that true?

Yes, Charlotte has only one Terminal. If you do not have checked baggage and you check-in online for your US Airways flight then all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Worried about Layover Time
    Mar 12, 2015
My arriving flight from Montego Bay is at 4:35pm and connecting to Columbus Ohio is 5:50 pm. Will this be enough time to clear customs etc in order to get on the flight? I would hate to miss my flight because I have work very early the next morning (3 am). This is my first time connecting through Charlotte but it has been recommended by friends.

At 1 hr 25 minutes it is below the recommended time, but if there's a major hub in the US where you might be able to pull this off, it's Charlotte. US Airways also has 2 later flights to Columbus if you do miss your connection, so at least you would make it to work, you just might not get much sleep

  • Change planes
    Mar 12, 2015
I have a flight from Miami to london Heathrow. My ticket says change planes at Charlotte.. What does that mean? And the next flight from Charlotte to london departs after an hour.. Wil I have to go to customs and all again? Or just change planes.. If my flight gets delayed from Miami, Wil I miss my flight to london from Charlotte?

It means you just have to get off the plane in Charlotte and get on another plane. Yes, if your flight is late getting to Charlotte it means you will be put on a later flight. If there is no later flight you will probably end up spending the night in Charlotte. You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US.

No, all gates in Charlotte are connected inside security.

  • Switch from American to USAir
    Feb 25, 2015
Flying in this Friday from San Jose, Costa Rica on American and flying out to BOS on USAir will we need to pick up luggage, clear customs, and switch terminals? We have 1.5 hour layover

Charlotte only has one terminal. Both of your flights will be operated by US Airways. You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I will be making a connection in CLT coming from DUB Dublin IE. I will go through passport control in DUB. When I get to CLT I assume I will go through customs then. Will I have to exit and reenter through TSA to get to my connection to DFW? Thanks

No, you will also clear US Customs in DUB. All you have to do in CLT is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 1 he layover before flight to Jamaica
    Feb 20, 2015
i have friend who are flying from Omaha tomorrow into Charlotte where they connect before continuing onto Jamica. Their connection time is 1 hr and they plan to check their bags in Omaha. Should they run into any issues with with regards to time? And will they have to reclaim their bag in Charlotte given the international transfer?

On their way to Jamaica they won't have to claim their bags in charlotte. Just walk from their arrival gate to their departure gate. They should have enough time if their first flight is on-time.

  • Friends connecting in Charlotte from Toronto Canada to San Juan
    Feb 19, 2015
Hi, I have friends who are flying Toronto Canada to San Jaun with a connection at Charlotte airport. They are pretty nervous as they rarely fly alone. They have a connection time of 2 1/2 hours. Will they need to claim their luggage before proceeding on to San Juan? Is it pretty easy to navigate this airport and find their right gates. Thanks

Forgot to say...they are flying US airways

They will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto. In Charlotte all they have to do is walk from their arrival gate to their departure gate. Charlotte only has one terminal and all the gates are connected inside security. They have PLENTY of time.

I just found out there is a Nascar race march 01...will there be a big congestion at the Charlotte airport. They arrive 8:30 in the morning leaving around 11:30am

There is no NASCAR race in Charlotte on March 1. The race that weekend is in Atlanta. The teams all take private planes to the races, or since Atlanta is pretty close to Charlotte, most people will drive there. It won't affect the Charlotte airport at all.
