In Oct I will be flying from Austin, TX on us airways to CLT, then from CLT to Jamaica on American. I have a 1 hour layover. Is this a sufficient amt of time? Only traveled international once, do I have to do anything with my bags or should they check them in Austin all the way to Jamaica?

On your way to Jamaica you don't have to do anything with your bags in Charlotte. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Charlotte only has one terminal and all gates are connected inside security.

I am looking at purchasing a ticket from PLS (Turks and Caicos) to YYZ. The connections are PLS to MIA , MIA to CLT and 51 min before departure to YYZ. Is this remotely possible????

Yes, that is possible. All you have to do in CLT is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks ZAP. Providing flight leaves on time in Miami, lol. Appreciate your assistance.

I am flying from Denver to Charlotte arrive in CLT at 5:10 with AA and then catch a connecting flight to Paris CDG at 6:15 with AA.Is that enough time and do I need to recheck my bags and go through customs and check in?

You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Hello, I'll travel on July 27th from Paris (France) to San Francisco, Charlotte for connection with US Airways. Charlotte arriving at 14:19 and the next flight at 16:35, is there enought time to arrive at time? Do I need to go to US immigration? Do I need to pick up my luggage in Charlotte or is it possible to check in from Paris to San Francisco ? We're french citizen. Thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. In Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You will be checked in to San Francisco but you still have to claim your bags in Charlotte to go through US Customs.

I am flying into Charlotte from San Francisco on American Airlines, landing at 7:10 pm and departing on a USAir flight at 7:44 pm. Is that enough time to make my connecting flight?

It's enough time but doesn't leave much time to spare if your first flight is delayed.

Hi i am arriving from London at 3.00 pm and i am leaving to ORL at 4.35, is this enough time? It is on a Sunday,

And do i have to pickup my bags and re-check them?

Yes, that should be barely enough time. In Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.

Scheduled to arrive in CLT at 9:01pm on US Air from Antigua with connecting flight to IND at 10:05pm. Posts here indicate a 90 minute Minimum Connection Time for International-to-Domestic flights, but other information online states MCT is 60 minutes. The airline also says MCT is 60 minutes and it is an approved connection. What is the correct MCT and where can this information be verified?

90 minutes is recommended, but immigration and security will not be busy that late at night, so 64 minutes is possible. However, be prepared to stay the night in Charlotte if your flight from Antigua is late.

  • 30 minutes to clear customs on us airways

My flight from Cayman lands at 7:03 and my next flight to Memphis takes off at 7:45. Us Airways says it is a valid connection. Is it physically possible to go through customers and make it to the next gate in 30 minutes?

No, that's impossible. Hang up and call again. The minimum time is 90 minutes. Maybe they don't want to rebook you because there are no later flights to Memphis, so they can't.

Flight on US Airway from BCN-CLT-ORD. Flight lands at 6:35pm and connecting flight leaves at 10:20pm. Can I just recheck luggage after Immigration or is layover to long and I have to take it to ticket counter Thanks.

You will be able to re-check your bags at the re-check desk after US Customs.

    Thanks for your help

Hi! I'll be flying from Barcelona to SFO and I'll take my connecting flight at CLT. I have 1h25 to take the connecting flight, will it be enough time for me to go through Immigration/Customs? I won't be checking any luggage at all so I won't have to wait for it and pick it up again, hopefully it will help. Thanks!

Oh, and both flights are operated by US Airways by the way.

That's 5 minutes shorter than the recommended time but I think with no checked baggage you should be OK.

    Great, thank you again!

Hi I am flying from EWR to CLT and have 46 minutes in between CLT and Aruba. I am flying with the same airline (AA). Is this layover enough time for me to catch my CLT to Aruba flight?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates in Charlotte are connected inside security. Note that both flights will be operated by US Airways.

Thanks, since AA is operated by US Airways does that mean I should expect that my connecting flight might be outside of the AA terminal which is Terminal A at CLT.?

    Charlotte only has one terminal.
