Hi I am travelling home from MCO to Dublin with a connection in CLT. Both flights are with US Airways. I have 50 minutes between flights. Is that enough time to move between gates

  • Distance from Terminal 3 to?

Hi. Am flying in to Charlotte from Chicago, arriving Terminal 3. meeting family who are flying in from UK. Am finding to hard to establish a) what terminal or concourse (are these inter-changeable words?) they arrive at and b) how long it will take me to get to them. Are all of the terminals / concourses directly linked, i.e. can I simply walk from Terminal 3 to there arrival terminal? Thanks. Am assuming Concourse A is Terminal 1 etc but different terminology is used by different websites!

Charlotte only has one terminal and all gates in Charlotte are housed in the same building and connected inside security. Chicago has a Terminal 3. perhaps that's what has you confused.

We are flying to Barcelona to catch a cruise. We fly PNS to CLT to BCN. We have a 4-1/2 hour layover, so that is good. My question is whether we have to claim our baggage in CLT and then go back through international security to fly to BCN? I've never flown internationally before, so any information you can provide is very helpful.

No, you will not have to claim your bags in Charlotte. In the US there is no such thing as "International Security". All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! My traveling companion is in a wheelchair, so I just wanted to plan out our time in Charlotte and allow for going back through security, if necessary. You have been very helpful.

Hi, my husband and I are traveling from Montego Bay to Charlotte in June with a 4:40PM arrival time. We only have a 76 minute timeframe between flights. After speaking with a friend, I am now incredibly worried that we will miss our second flight leaving Charlotte to Portland, Maine, because of two reasons. One, I now know that we should have planned on a 90 minute time frame to get through customs, etc. Two, we did not book with the same airline for the two flights from Montego Bay (American Airlines to CLT & US Airways to PWM). I am hoping for some guidance here. If we miss our flight from CLT to PWM due to having to go through customs will the airline help with getting us home if it is not considered a connecting flight, or are we on our own? Can you tell I'm stressing out? Thanks for any help you can provide. I appreciate your time.

Both of your flights will actually be operated by US Airways. Yes, the airline will try to book you on the next flight to Portland if you miss your connection due to delays at customs. However, that flight may not be until the next day.

  • MBJ - CLT - MSP - short layover in Charlotte

Hi, I have just over an hour layover between when my flight from Montego bay arrives in Charlotte, and when my next flight departs for Minneapolis. Both are on US Airways, but I'm worried that we won't have enough time to get through customs and then security, even if we just carry on our luggage. (no checked bags). Will we make it if everything is on time?

Correct, the minimum time for that connection is 90 minutes and if you only have 60 that's pretty much impossible with checked bags. Without checked bags you might be able to make it. However, you should be able to contact your travel agent or US Airways to get rebooked because that is a clearly illegal connection.

  • CHARLOTTE LAYOVER ON OUR WAY TO SPAIN (2:35)

Hello! We will arrive at CLT on May 29th from Mexico City at 18:20 h and then we have another flight (both with US Airways) at 20:55 h (2 h 35 minutes layover) to Madrid (Spain). We are two people, from Mexico and Spain. Wil we have enough time to catch the 2nd flight? What are the stages that we will have (us inmigration, customs, baggage claim etc)? Thanks!!!

In Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, go through security and to your departure gate. Make sure the Spanish citizen completes ESTA before your trip and that the Mexican citizen has a US Visa.

Thanks for your answer, we already have the ESTA for the spanish citizen and the US Visa for the Mexican citizen, do you think that we will have enough time (2 h 35 minutes)??

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

    Thank you for helping us!

hi, my plane would arrive at CLT at 7:24, and i have a connection to my next flight at 8 to florence (FLO, SC) my question: are 36 minutes enough for me to change the plane and to catch that flight? i will come from europe and therefore have got checked bags. thanks for the answer!

NO!!! 36 minutes is impossible for an International to Domestic connection at Charlotte. You need at least 90 minutes. Contact US Airways or your Travel Agent and demand to be rebooked.

Hi I am flying from Dfw to Charlotte and have a connecting flight to London heathrow. I arrive Charlotte at 21:13 and depart for london at 22:30 is this enough time and do I have to go through security again?

That is plenty of time. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not have to go through security.

Thanks for your reply. An easy connection at Clt to look forward too. So long as the weather does not delay flight all will be good.

  • CLT - JFK connection, 31 minutes

Will be travelling through CLT, connecting to JFK on 6-22-15. Both flights on US Airways. I will have checked bags. Is 31 minutes enough time, considering bags need to be transferred to the next plane?

Assuming your first flight is domestic and on-time, it's barely enough time.

I only have 50 arriving from Memphis to depart to Madrid, Will I have enough time to catch my flight?

    What airlines? What airport?

    Douglas, Charlotte. US

In that case, yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates in Charlotte are connected inside security.

What about an hour at O'Hare, Chicago? I am trying to decide which trip to book.

Thanks, what about 1 hour coming from Memphis to Chicago with just one hour to catch my next flight to Madrid, will I have enough time?

That is more difficult, as the only airline flying nonstop from Chicago to Madrid is Iberia, which operates from Terminal 5, so you would have to take the ATS Train from T3 to T5 and go through security.

Hello, I'll travel on July 29th from Barcelona (Spain) to Orlando, Charlotte for connection with US airways (American Airlines). Charlotte arriving at 18:35 and the next flight at 20:15, there's enought time to arrive at time?, I need to go to US immigration?, We're spanish citizen.

Yes, in Charlotte on your way to Orlando you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.

And enought time 1:40 is us airways bith.

Yes, that should be enough time.

And the return flights: Orl to Barcelona 13:55 -- 07:10, but interconection stop at Charlotte, with 1 hour and 8 minutes, all with US Airways. I need to enter again on US custom? Is enought this time? The flisht was bought at american airlines. Thanks.

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. On your return to Barecelona in Charlotte all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Am arriving CLT US Airways Gate 2, Departing US Airways Gate E3. Where is Gate 2 in relation to Gate E3.

There is no "gate 2". All gates at CLT are connected inside security.

  • Question about terminals

I was told that CLT only had one terminal and all we would have to do is find our next gate. The terminal map of CLT I found online shows Concourses A-E. Is a concourse different from a terminal? Please explain. Sorry but we are first time flyers and don't have a clue what we are doing.

A concourse is an area where gates are, a fancy word for hallway. A Terminal is an area where check in desks, security checkpoints, and baggage claim is. The Concourses at CLT are just different hallways with gates. They are all connected to each other inside security.
