Is it possible to obtain the boarding pass for an international flight on a separate booking in a different domestic airport?

    No. Usually not

I am taking a one way flight from Charlotte to Frankfurt. I am arriving at Charlotte on a domestic flight and then taking a one way flight from Charlotte to Frankfurt. The domestic and international tickets were purchased as two separate one way tickets. both are american airlines flights..Because the domestic arrival flight terminal and international departing flights are connected and are inside the security. So, I guess there won't be any need to exit since I will not have any checkin baggage. I have 1h time between these two flights. The problem is that I am unable to checkin online for the international flight and it says "need to see a gate agent". The question is can i get the boarding pass once i reach the gate at Charlotte or do I need to exit the terminal and re-enyer through the security? trying to reach American... Any ideas in the interim?

Yes, you can get your boarding pass at the gate in Charlotte.

  • CLT - SEA on same airline 20 minute layover

I'm flying from IND to CLT and from CLT direct to SEA. I am flying American Airlines both flights, but only have a 25 minute layover. My arriving gate is C5 and I need to get to B6. Is this enough time to make my flight? I've never had a layover this short and am quite nervous about making my connections.

It's possible if you run and are not delayed.

We have an hour and 20 minutes between connections in Charlotte. Should we check our bags or would it save enough time to just carry them on?

Since that is 10 minutes shorter than the recommended minimum International to Domestic connection time, I definitely recommend carry-on only.

  • Connection SJO - CLT - PHL on same airline - Customs

We're flying roundtrip on American Airlines PHL to SJO with connection both ways in CLT. We're checking baggage in SJO to arrive in PHL for our flight back. When we fly back from SJO to PHL and land in CLT, do we have to go through Customs and Immigration or can we go directly to our connecting departure gate? If we do have to go through Customs, do we have to retrieve our bags from baggage claim, go through Customs and then re-check our bags with the airline?

Yes, in Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate.

Thank you for your response. The flight has 90 minutes between connections. Would 90 minutes be enough time?

90 minutes is the minimum allowable time. It's possible but depends on everything going smoothly.

I am an airline empoyee who will be flying into clt on the 24th, but my girlfriend will also be coming in via cancun and must go through customs. Which terminal would I need to go to so that immediately after she gets through passport control, I can be the first person she sees after going through customs? She will be coming in via aa flight 882 from cun-clt if that helps.

    Charlotte only has one terminal.

Flying from Indy to Charlotte to Jamaica with 38 minutes in between. On the return we only have 1 hour 9 minutes to make our flight, go through customs etc

That connection on your way to Jamaica is possible but obviously leaves no room for error. On your way to Jamaica all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. On your return that is inadequate. The minimum International to Domestic connection time in Charlotte is 90 minutes.

  • CLT Gate Connection: Domestic to International

I am traveling from Huntsville to Charlotte (arriving at Terminal E) and then from Charlotte to Frankfurt (departing from Terminal D). There is a one hour transit between the two flights. These domestic and international flights are bought as two separate tickets. Question: -Do i need to go through security check to move between the terminals? -Is 65min sufficient to deplane from terminal E and get to the international terminal D at CLT?

CLT only has one Terminal, so you don't have to change terminals. Since both of these flights are on American, you can call American and have the two reservations joined together so that your bags can be checked through to Frankfurt in Huntsville. Then you won't have to go through security in Charlotte.

Thanks for the comment..I don't plan to take any bags..with that, getting two storage tickets would still enable me to freely nice between gates right???

Yes, you'd just need to make sure you have your boarding pass for your flight to Frankfurt.

    Thanks a lot...

I am flying into CLT from Turks & Caicos and have a 1 hour and 30 minute layover. Is this enough time to get my checked bag and clear customs?

Coming from Dayton to Charlotte for connecting flight to Cancun this Friday. I have a 38 minute layover. Is this a legal minimum connection time for a domestic to international flight? If my Dayton flight is delayed will I be able to hop on the next flight to Cancun later that day without being charged? Both flights are through American Airlines.

Yes, it's possible if your flight from Dayton is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Yes, if you miss your connection you will be put on a later flight to Cancun. However, there is just the 9:25 AM and 11:29 AM flights. If you are already on the 11:29 flight and you miss it there's a good chance you'll be stuck in Charlotte overnight (maybe they could rebook you to Cancun through Dallas or Miami)

I'm on the 9:25am, so I guess I won't sweat it if we end up delayed. Thanks for the quick response!

I have made the trip many times and barely made connection to LEX because of baggage claim, customs and recheck bags plus having to go through security again. If I travel with hand carry only, do I still have to go through security again? Thanks

Yes, you will still have to go through security again. Everyone has to go through security after customs if they have a connection.

Hi, We (UK citizens) will be arriving at CLT from LHR at 17:45 and have a connection at 19:59 to MCO. 1) Assume we will need to clear customs at CLT? 2) Will we need to collect baggage 3) Is 2 hours enough time? Thanks

Yes, in Charlotte you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. You have enough time.

We are travelling from YYZ to CLT then on to San Juan. We have a 2 hour 20 minute layover. We arrive on American Eagle and then board on AA toSan Juan. Do we have to change terminals/concourses at all. And I know this time frame is enough time but what to do there for that length of time.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. Charlotte only has one Terminal. You may have to change concourses but all gates in Charlotte are connected inside security. There's not much to do in the airport other than eat or drink or look out the window.

Due to arrive in Charlotte from Orlando at 17.12 on a Saturday evening to get a connecting flight (both AmericanAirlines) at 18.10 to Dublin, Ireland. This leaves only 58 minutes between connections but I think baggage will be checked straight through to Dublin? Is this enough time?

Yes, baggage will be sent straight through and all you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security.

My layover between two domestic American airline flights is 45min.is it enough? No check-in luggage. Do I need to get security clearance again?

You do not have to go through security. All gates in Charlotte are connected inside security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time as long as your first flight is on-time.
