I have a 35 minute layover between AAL1702 landing and AAL5318 departing. I have checked baggage as I was international from SFO. Whats the likelyhood of my bags making it to my next plan in CLT?
If the flight from SFO is on-time you have a chance.
Sept 06 I have an AA flight from Phoenix connecting in Charlotte to another American flight to Harrisburg. I have only 35 minute connection time. Not checking any luggage, only carryon. Am I okay?
It's just enough time if the first flight is on-time. It obviously leaves no time to spare if there are delays.
I have a flight on AA arriving on Saturday 10/8 at 4:35 pm, coming from Cancun. Our flight to Chicago leaves at 5:57 pm. Will there be enough time to clear customs and make the flight? Carry on baggage only.
With carry-ons that should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I am flying from CLT to ATL to Bogota. Do I check in at the regular Delta counter?AND I only have 50 minutes in ATL before my flight to BOG. Will I make it?
There is only one Delta counter in Charlotte. All you have to do in Atlanta is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your flight from Charlotte is on-time.
35 minutes to get from B11 to E31? Is it possible?
It's possible but leaves no time to spare.
Hi I'm flying from London heathrow to Charlotte and then onto Las Vegas. My flights are with American Airlines - I have a stop over of 1 hour 45 mins will I make the connection. Will I have to collect my bags and check in again and will I have to go through passport control thanks
Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time.
Traveling Monday Sept 12 from TPA to CLT to CDG. Published layover time in CLT is 1hr 2min. Is this sufficient?
Yes, all you have to do in Charlotte is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Thank you.
Traveling from YUL to CLT and then GCM with a 1:25 lawover. Will it be enough?
*layover =)
Yes, that is enough time. You pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Charlotte on your way to Grand Cayman is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Hi, I am a US citizen, flying American from Costa Rica to Boston, with a layover in Charlotte. Will 1 hour 26 minutes be enough to clear customs and recheck my bags for my connecting flight?
That's slightly below the recommended minimum International to Domestic connection time in Charlotte. You may make it, but be prepared to miss your connection.
Hi - American has changed my flight time for the 3rd or 4th time and now I only have an hour and 13 minutes to clear customs and make my connecting flight. This is on a Saturday night in November - 9:01 PM arrival from Costa Rica, 10:14 PM departure to DCA. Actually I should say I only have an hour and 3 minutes since they close the door on flight 10 minutes before departure. This is not enough time, right?
Yeah, it's not enough time. I mean, considering it's such a late arrival into CLT it may be possible because the lines would be short, but it's so risky and if you miss it you would definitely be stuck at CLT overnight, I would definitely call AA and ask to either be rerouted through Miami or Dallas or if there's an earlier flight to Charlotte, be put on that.
Thanks, It seems very obvious to both of us (and probably anyone who travels more than occasionally), so I am really getting angry at American for making this change to my itinerary. I have a lot on my plate and now I need to micromanage an airline that doesn't schedule enough time between connections? They did this to my outbound flight through Miami too, I booked flights that had a 2.5 hour layover and they changed the flight schedules to only have an hour layover and in my experience in Miami that's cutting it way too close, especially if you really want to make sure you don't miss your international flight and end up having to wait until the next day to catch the next one. I had to call them and fix that too. This one is even worse because we have to drive 4 - 5 hours to get to the San Jose airport, so now instead of a 3 PM flight with a 1.5 hour layover in CLT, which admittedly may not have been enough time either, I'm going to need to take a flight closer to noon, meaning we need to get on the road before the sun comes up, if not the night before and stay overnight in San Jose. I would think about taking this an opportunity to change our plans and stay longer and spend a few days in the central valley closer to San Jose, but no, that will be $200 each if you want to change to a different day, roughly half the cost of the actual flights in the first place. Ever since American bought USAir they keep changing their schedules and fares in the routes I take and the schedules are less and less convenient and the fares less and less competitive, and if you have, you know, a life where things happen, you can't change your flight without spending $400 (!) for two people. But they can change their flights and make you have to call them to fix what they should know is a problem themselves. Thank you whoever allows all these mergers, there is no competition at this point, what 3 major airlines that stay out of each others way and let each other have certain routes and time slots so they can price them however they please, your only hope is that Southwest can meet your schedule needs, they're awesome but they are all alone.

Anyway, thank you again, needed to vent on this. Travel is such a hassle these days and it's only getting worse.
I understand your frustration. However, you would be able to void the change fee if you called and asked for a schedule change. This is because they changed your schedule, so you're allowed one free change. It may be easiest for you to spend the night in San Jose. I agree that it is a shame that we only have three major airlines at this point. However, I reccomend flying Delta over American and United, as Delta actually has on of the better on-time ratings out there, while the opposite can be said for American and United. Also, if you frequently fly into Costa Rica, Southwest flies nonstop to both San José and Liberia, Costa Rica, from Baltimore, which is less than an hour drive from DCA, and the prices are probably tremendously lower.
Thank you. I was assuming that American would only let me change the flight within the same day but I think you are right that they should allow a change and if not I will just tell them their new schedule doesn't work and they need to refund and then I'll rebook new dates, if I decide to stay longer. I did not realize the Southwest out of BWI non stop was there, unfortunately it is only one day per week i.e. Saturday but knowing that in the future it may still be a better option than one of the major carriers. Downside is I live only about 6 miles from DCA and the BWI flights are very early in the morning and my wife and I are not morning people :-). Thank you again.
