On May 2nd 2014 we will be flying from Nashville to Paris, all on US Airlines .Will 90 min be sufficient connection time { do we need to leave security to make connection?], or should we take the flight giving 3 hr 19 min to connect? Thanks

At CLT US Airways uses Terminals B, C, D & E. Open http://www.ifly.com/charlotte-douglas-international-airport/terminal-map & scroll down to the detailed text.

If your first flight is on-time, 90 minutes is sufficient. All gates at CLT are connected beyond security.

Ticket states terminal 1. Is that a concourse?

CLT has only one terminal with Concourses A - E; I suggest you open www.ifly.com/clt then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'MAPS & DIRECTIONS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

Is 1:15 hrs enough time to meet connection on a Sunday to GCM? US Customs preclearance is done at YYZ before being allowed to proceed to security? Flying US Airways on both legs. Thanks

Yes, connections at CLT are pretty easy.

is there any place to get a latte in US Airways terminal

There are several starbucks in CLT

is the coffee or Starbucks located in the US airways terminal?

CLT only has one terminal (all the gates are connected at CLT). There will likely be one near your gate/gates.

  • Customs at CLT then connecting flight

Hi. I have a flight coming from Italy to CLT and then connects to RDU. I am considering getting out of the airport at CLT as my house is equidistant between the two airports. Is it correct that I will have to collect my bags at Customs in CLT? Perhaps at that time I can decide to head home from there or carry on to RDU. ?

Yes, you will go through immigration in CLT and collect your bags.

Where the heck is the international terminal ??? Don't answer to me: update the damn website and maps !

Your post was received at iFly, not affiliated with CLT - iFly site has Terminal Map at http://www.ifly.com/charlotte-douglas-international-airport/terminal-map with terminal details. There is no International Terminal, but only one Terminal with Concourses A - E. Note that CLT map at Charlotte Douglas Airport site is hard to find, as they put it under category 'ShopDineWorkRelax' - it also takes endlessly to get it to open.

  • Terminal for Southwest

What is the terminal for Southwest Airlines at CLT? I don't seem to see it on the map. Thank you.

Southwest doesn't currently fly to CLT. However, CLT only has one terminal, so when they start flying there they shouldn't be too hard to find. Their check-in and gates will probably be where Airtran is today.

On march 18 we will be flying pls thru clt to phx. where will we go thru customs? How much time is needed between clt arrival and phx departure?

You will clear customs in Charlotte, claim bags and re-check, and then have to go through security again. I would want 1.5 hours, but an hour might be OK.

i will be flying us air from asheville to charlotte then fling southwest to vegas. when i arrive from asheville to charlotte can i go straight to the southwest boarding gate (ill already have my boarding pass) or do i need to go through security again to have my carry on rechecked before heading to southwest gates? Will southwest gates be where airtran currently is?

Yes, all gates at CLT are connected beyond security so you can just go to the gate. The Southwest gates will probably be where the Airtran ones are now, but there's no guarantee of that.

SWA gates will be A4 & A6 (where Airtran is now). You will probably arrive in the E concourse on USAir. If you check a bag plane side with USAir they will bring it up. But if you check one curbside or at the ticket counter you will have to go outside of security to baggage claim and get it and then go to SWA ticket counter and check it and then go back through security. Check both carriers carry restrictions. SWA will not bring a planeside checked bag back up on your return.

We are flying BWI to CLT and on to Rome, Italy (FCO), Our return will be the reverse. We are at a loss as to what are adequate connection times for the outbound and inbound flights considering changing planes but particularly customs at CLT.

Outbound, 1 hr is sufficient and 90 minutes would be safe. Returning, I'd want 2 hours because of immigration which can get quite crowded at CLT during the time when all the European flights arrive.

Thank you for the reply. Together with other replies, we can piece together what to expect.

  • connected at CLT from SFO to JFK

Hi, I will be flying from San Francisco to New York(JFK) on Feb,7 by US airways. I will be connect my flights at CLT airport. I have 1h2min of layover and since it seems US Airways serves every terminal. So I don't know which terminal is to arrive and which one to depart, I am not sure if I can have time enough to make my connection? Thanks !

There is only one terminal in Charlotte and all the gates are connected beyond security. If your flight is on time you will have plenty of time.

Oh, it means that I do not have to go through the security check and check in again even if I wanna go to another terminal, is it? That sounds so great!

  • tight connection domestic to intl

Hi, I am arriving at CLT from a domestic flight at 9:11 pm and hope to be able to make a flight to London leaving at 10:15--is this enough time to go through security again and get to the gate? I only have 1 carry on. Thanks in advance for your help.

Your arrival at, and departure from, CLT, depends largely on the airlines you take. If taking two different airlines, make sure the first one will transfer your bags to the second one - not all airlines do - if not, you would need to claim your bag on arrival and re-check it in with the departing airline. I stronly I suggest you open www.ifly.com/clt, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

You will not have to go through security again. All gates at CLT are connected beyond security. If your first flight is on time, an hour is plenty of time.

    Thank you for the information.
