Hi! I am traveling from Sweden with SAS to ORD, arriving 6.35 pm. I then have a connecting flight (American Airlines) to Seattle leaving at 8.20. Is that enough time? I am not a US citizen and I'm scared I'm gonna be stuck in Chicago because there's so little time to make the connection!

That is very difficult - basically impossible if it's on two separate reservations.

I don't have separate reservations... Will 1hr and 45 mins be enough?

I'm flying out of Pittsburgh to O'hare then to san diego do I need to claim my baggage and turn in back in for my other flight I only have 40mins between flights

If both flights are on the same airline then you don't have to do anything with your bags in Chicago. That is still a difficult connection.

I will be arriving from Toronto at Terminal 2 at 9:27 pm on Dec 23 (Air Canada), then continuing to Taipei from Terminal 5 at 12:20 am on Dec 24. 2 hours and 43 minutes altogether. Will that be enough time, also granted it's Christmas Eve? Thank you.

Yes, that's enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do is take the ATS Train from T2 to T5 and go through security. Christmas Eve is not a busy travel day.

I will be traveling from Malaysia to Narita airport via ANA. From Narita airport I Will then fly to Chicago o hare ( 5 hour layover at Chicago) with United airline for a connecting flight to Columbus Ohio, also via United airline. Will I have to pick up luggage, go through customs, recheck luggage and then go through security again at Chicago? Or will my luggage be checked all the way through Columbus?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or 2 (B or C gates are in 1, E and F gates are in 2), then go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • International Flight, Dog goes to Chicago, I connect to Cleveland

I am traveling via Austrian Airlines from Vienna (VIE) to Cleveland (CLE) with a connection in ORD. I have a 3 hour layover in ORD. My dog Buster will be staying with some friends in Chicago while I am in Cleveland and they will pick him up at ORD. I have three questions: Will l have to leave through customs to pick up Buster and take him out to meet my friends? Will I also have to pick up my luggage when I pick up Buster or will my bags be automatically transferred to my connecting flight? Will 3 hours be enough time to accomplish this? Thanks! TAC

YOu will have to go claim your bags to go through customs whether you are connecting or not. You should have enough time.

  • LAX to YYZ connecting at ORD

Our flight is from LAX arrives in ORD at around 5:40am and we have 1 hour and half for connection from ORD to YYZ (Canada). We bought the tickets from United Airlines, and we have checked baggage. We wanna know if 1 1/2 hour is enough for such connection? Will we have to re-check our baggage at ORD? TIA.

All you have to do at ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You don't have to do anything with your baggage. There is no US Customs when leaving the US and you will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Toronto.

My trip is booked with 2 separate tickets. The domestic flight on AA will arrive at 9:06am, and the int'l flight on United will depart at 12pm. Do i have to pick up my bags and take them with me to re-check in at United counter? 3 hour layover is enough for me to do that? Thanks

Yes, you will have to claim your bags at Terminal 3 and then take them to Terminal 1 to re-check them with United. You should have enough time as long as your flight from Tampa is on-time.

I have never flown into ORD. I will be flying in from Zurich with United, then on to Little Rock. Do I claim my bag and then re-check it so I can go through customs?

Your flight to Chicago will be operated by Swiss. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or 2, go through security and to your departure gate.

  • International connection from Germany to Mexico via O`hare

I will arrive in O`Hare from Frankfurt with Lufthansa at 2.10 pm (business) and will connect to Cancun with American at 3.45pm. Is this sufficient? Can the luggage be checked through?

Is this on two separate itineraries or one itinerary? If it's two separate ones you will have to transfer your bags between airlines yourself and it will be very difficult for you to make it in time. If it's the same itinerary it's possible but you have no possible time to spare. You will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs.

Hi, I'm flying with united the whole way from Toronto via Chicago to Tokyo then to Fukuoka. I'm wondering if they will send my bag the whole way or if i need to collect it in chicago ? I only have 50 minutes layover in chicago !

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You don't have to do anything with your bags.

  • I am flying from London to Chicago to Toledo

I am flying from London to Chicago where I will take a connecting flight from Chicago to Toledo. Once I get off the plane, do I need to go through security again before I can get to my terminal to fly to Toledo? This is my first time flying by myself and I am nervous as nervous can be. Because my layover time in Chicago is 1hr30mins. will this time be sufficient.

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the ATS Train to Terminal 3, and go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks a lot! I have my return flight on 29th from Fresno at 17:40 arriving at Los Angeles International at 18:51, then to London Heathrow at 20:55. Do you think there is enough time there? What should on arriving at Los Angeles Terminal 4 in order to get to Terminal B please? My domestic flights are with AA both ways, I have a single bag under 23kg, are there any fees associated? Thanks in advance!

Yes, that should be enough time for your connection in LAX. Since you are all on one international ticket, you shouldn't have to pay any checked bag fees.

    Thanks a lot!

  • 50min Conection time at ORD, Is it enough time with 3 children?

3 of us are traveling with 1 child with two infants. We have 50 min time connection. 1st flight by United express (operated by Skywest) with 2nd leg, by United. Are the gates close by for this connection and would my baggage be transferred automatically without rechecking? We also have stroller which will be tagged and given at the aircraft door. Do United give them on arrival as we exist the plane?

No need to ask the same question twice.

  • Transfer from T5 to T3 with a difference between flights is 3 hrs

My friend is coming from India via British Airways and landing on Terminal T5 at ORD International Airport and then has another flight AA from Terminal T3 with a layover of 3 hrs. So, I wanted to know 1.Does he needs to carry the check in baggages with him or it would be transferred automatically. 2. Can i accompany him to the Terminal T5 in the tram as i am not travelling to Tampa and lives in Chicago so just going over to meet him at the airport. 3. As my friend is coming from outside so needs to go through the port of entry procedure, so is the 3 hrs ayover time is enough to catch the next flight from T3.

He will be able to re-check his bags at the AA transfer desk in T5 after he clears customs. Yes, you can meet him at the exit of customs in T5 and take the ATS train with him to T3. Yes, 3 hours is enough time.

I have booked AA from vancouver to Chicago and transit stop is at dallas where i will have to change my flight but airline is the same. I want to know that am I suppose to claim my baggage at Dalllas airport? I have 2 hours 45 min. I will have to cross the immigration as well in Dallas?

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Vancouver. You only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Dallas. The Skylink train connects all Terminals inside security. You have plenty of time.

Im flying in to chicago on a United flight, have a 5 hour layover, then my connecting flight is Alaska airlines to Seattle.. Will i need to recheck my bags in chicago or just make a gate change?

If 'flying into Chicago' from an overseas country (other than from some Canadian & other foreign airports with U.S. Customs Clearance), you will arrive at the International Terminal 5, where you need to go through passport control, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags. If you bought both flights on one ticket, your bags will thereafter be automatically transferred. If not, you will need to re-check them in with your connecting airline. Alaska is in Terminal 3. The underground ATS train connects to it in minutes.

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? Is your United arrival domestic or International?

i didnt purchase the tickets. Company trip. Im arriving form baltimore
