Im flying in to chicago on a United flight, have a 5 hour layover, then my connecting flight is Alaska airlines to Seattle.. Will i need to recheck my bags in chicago or just make a gate change?

If 'flying into Chicago' from an overseas country (other than from some Canadian & other foreign airports with U.S. Customs Clearance), you will arrive at the International Terminal 5, where you need to go through passport control, pick up bags, go through customs clearance & re-check-in your bags. If you bought both flights on one ticket, your bags will thereafter be automatically transferred. If not, you will need to re-check them in with your connecting airline. Alaska is in Terminal 3. The underground ATS train connects to it in minutes.

Did you purchase your tickets together or separately? Is your United arrival domestic or International?

i didnt purchase the tickets. Company trip. Im arriving form baltimore

  • "Baggage Service Office"

What is the phone number for the "baggage service office" at O'Hare International? My bag was delayed a day coming in from AMS. A claim report was already made according to KLM, but their site did not provide a reference number. It only told me to contact the baggage office. (No one was at the KLM desk on the other side of Int'l Customs).

Hi. Baggage of my two visitors were not delivered to ORD on 7/30/14. The route they traveled was KRK-TLX-ORD with Air Berlin. The claim number is ORDAB10408. Why baggage haven't been found yet? It has been four days since. Thank you

Please contact Air Berlin. This is not the air berlin or O'hare airport website.

Family (wife and two small kids) arriving in Lufthansa flight at ORD Terminal 5 and need to catch to connecting United flight. Where is transfer desk located at terminal 5 once after finished with the customs?. I did not find the transfer desk at the terminal 5 airport map. Also there is two exit at terminal 5, need to know which exit to take so its easy to handover the baggage at transfer desk.

The transfer desk is right at the exit to customs, it's hard to miss. You want to follow the signs to the ATS train to Terminal 1 for your connecting flight after you re-check your bags.

i am comming to chicago by by united airline, i have 3 hours, and have seprate ticket to go to india by air india, will i get help of sky cap at terminal 1 to take my luggage to terminal 5

No, you have to transfer the bags yourself via the ATS train. You also cannot bring carts on the ATS train. Therefore I don't recommend you bring along more baggage than you can reasonably carry yourself.

  • do I need to re-check my luggage?

Hi, I am traveling from Knoxville to ORD with American Airlines and will then be flying from ORD to Vancouver,BC with United--will I need to collect my luggage between these two flights? I have 2 hours of layover time and am wondering if this is enough if I have to pick up my bags between flights...

At ORD, you arrive at Terminal 3 and depart at Terminal 1 and transfer either by connecting tunnel or using the ATS train stopping at upper level. In both instances you need to go through security check at T1. If you bought both flights on one ticket, bags will automatically be transferred. If not, you need to check them in which would make your time frame extremely tight.

samay is incorrect - you can walk from T3 to T1 inside security. However, if you have to claim baggage you will have to exit security anyway, so you should take the ATS train or walk along the curbfront. If you purchased tickets together the bags should be transferred automatically.

  • Short time, to get to my next flight

Hi I really need some help. I am arriving at Chicago airport at 6.25pm from London. I will arrive in terminal 5. Do i have too pick up my luggage and check it in again? And my next question is... My next flight will fly at 8.15pm at terminal 3 . Will i make it? I am so scared that i will loose my flight...

Yes, you should have enough time. You will clear US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then you can re-check your bags immediately afterwards. You will then take the ATS Train to Terminal 3 and go through security and to your departure gate. I assume you're flying American?

Yes, i am flying with american airlines from Chicago to L.A i think.. But with british airways from Norway to London and to Chicago :) and is it easy to find my way to the different places:)?

It's not too hard. You will be funneled towards immigration upon arrival and the re-check desk is pretty well marked. Then you follow the signs to the ATS train to Terminal 3.

  • Rechecking Luggage?

Hello, I am flying American Airlines from Green Bay to Ohare, and then transferring to Turkish Airlines. The tickets are not booked separately. Will I have to recheck my luggage, or will it be checked all the way through to Istanbul? Thanks.

American and Turkish have an interline agreement, so American should check your bags through to Istanbul in Green Bay, if so, you will not have to deal with them in O'Hare.

  • Baggage transfer from Air India (T 5) to Delta (T 2) at ORD

Hi, I will be reaching Terminal 5 on Air India and then need to fly on Delta out of Terminal 2. All are booked through one ticket. So the luggage will be checked to my final destination ATL. My question is whether I can drop off my luggage with Delta in T5 at ORD after clearing customs or do I have to take them from T5 to T2. The airport train system doesn't allow carts.

The re-check counter at T5 should be able to take your bags if they are tagged through to ATL.
