Traveling from Beijing to ORD on Sunday May 29th (Memorial day weekend) and have a 2:05 layover to change from international to domestic, all on AA. Is this enough time???

Yes, that should be just enough time if your flight from Beijing arrives on-time.

You don't have to do anything with your bags. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

Hi, Flying in from CPH to Chicago and will have 1h35 min to clear customs and recheck bags going on to HSV, AL. Will that be enough time?

Are the two tickets on one reservation or two separate ones? This is a difficult connection. What airline are you flying to HSV?

  • Connecting Flights on United

Our flight in is on United Express and flight out is on United. Does anyone know what terminals AND concourses these would be on. Also, where is the walkway between terminals 1 and 2 located - is it between certain concourses?

The walkway between 1 and 2 is at the base of the terminal, it goes from the Low numbered end of B (near B1) to the base of E/F. All United mainline flights use Terminal 1, they can use either the B or C concourse. United Express flights can use the A, B, E, or F concourses. All flights on CRJ-200 aircraft use E or F. Other than that it could be (almost) anywhere - the gates at the center of B and C are used almost exclusively for mainline aircraft.

  • coming from brussels - 1hour 54 minute layover

Hi! I'm flying from Brusssels and I have to catch a connecting flight to Saginaw in 1h 54minutes. Will that be enough time for the immigration and switching terminal? It's all with United. And do I have to pick up my luggage in Chicago? My return flight from Saginaw to Brussels would only have a layover of 1hour at Chicago O'hare. Do I have enough time for both flights?

On you way to Saginaw, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go up 2 floors to the ATS Train and take it to Terminal 2, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just about enough time. On your way back to Brussels you will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1. They are connected inside security by a walkway. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should also have enough time.

Thank you so much for your response!

  • 1 Hour Enough?

I'm flying from Vegas to Dublin through Chicago - there was originally 2 hours 30 minutes layover in Chicago but my first flight has changed and now there's only 1 hour. I'll be arriving and leaving through Terminal 3 so will this be long enough? Will I have to go through security again?

Yes, that is long enough if both flights are in T3. You do not have to go through security. Just walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the H/K concourse.

  • Shuffling from Terminal 5 to Terminal 1

We are flying into Terminal 5 on UA 969 6:15 PM Friday 9/23 from London connecting to UA 515 in Terminal 1 to Sacramento. The whole itinerary is on United and when we booked this flight, UA allowed this connection. Is it reasonable to get through Customs and transfer to Term 1 from Term 5 with 1 hour and 20 minutes, provided the flights are on time? Also, if we are delayed in Customs will United hold the flight to Sacramento to allow us time to get to that gate since all flights are on United?

1 hr 20 minutes is not a reasonable international to domestic connection time at ORD. They will not hold the plane for you. The minimum time is 90 minutes and I recommend 2 hours.

  • UNITED CHANGED MY FLIGHT AND NOW I ONLY HAVE 1HR 40 MIN MINUTE LAYOVER

I am travelling from EDI to ORD connecting from ORD to DEN. I had booked flights with 2hr 15 min layover. United changed my flights (without notifying me) and now I only have a 1hr 40 min layover. 1. Is that enough time to clear customs, transfer from terminal 5 to terminal 1? 2. Do I also have to collect my bags and recheck them? (we arrive at Chicago at 2:30 pm on a saturday)

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 and go through security. That should be enough time on a Saturday afternoon.

Traveling from Calgary to Chicago (T2) then connecting to Dublin (T5). Traveling alone with two kids. Wondering how the connection works- do I just go straight through to terminal 5? Do I have to get my bags again? Do they give you back your stroller? Thanks in advance.

If both tickets are on the same reservation then you go straight to T5. If you check your stroller at the gate they will give it back to you at the gate in Chicago. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. You will have to go through security again in T5.

I am flying from San Francisco to Stockholm with international connection at ORD with single reservation of SAS. SFO to ORD is shared code and operated by UA. I will arrive terminal 1 and transfer to terminal 5. The layover time will be 90 mins. Would this be enough time to catch connection? Thanks!

That should be enough time. You just have to take the ATS Train from T1 to T5 and go through security.

  • 1hr connection time on international flight

I'm booking the flight from Toronto to Japan with one stop on ORD. At the ORD, there is only 1hr 8min for transit. Can I make it to transfer? I will take the flight of UA8397 which is operated by AIR CANADA EXPRESS and transfer to NH113 from Chicago to Japan. Do I need to check the baggage claim at the ORD? Is this enough connection time to take a different airline?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate in concourse E of Terminal 2 to your departure gate in Terminal 1. They are connected inside security by a walkway. You should have enough time.

  • Will 2 hours be enough to clear the immigration & customs?

Hi, I will be travelling by Korea to Chicago at Terminal 5 and have a connecting United Airlines flight to Detroit,MI from Terminal 1 on Saturday. Will 2 hours be enough to clear the immigration & customs, travelling to Terminal 1 & clearing the security check?

If both tickets are on the same reservation that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to T1 and go through security.

Hi there in flying in on the 28th From Korea to Chicago terminal 5 and then have a 2 hrs if connection to go through security and customs to get to terminal 1 and leave for Kansas. I've never flown before so as you can tell anxiety is getting the best of me but I was just wondering if that was enough time between flights?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to T1 and go through security.

is it enough for me to transfer the flight? since its my first time to fly by myself in the US, i'm not sure I can make it :( . but the price is quite good

It's possible, all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, but it leaves no time to spare if the first flight is delayed.

  • Layover time and Checked baggage

Hey, I'm flying from LHR (London) and have a layover in Chicago to LAX. Arrival at terminal 5 and depart at terminal 3. I have 1:45 minutes to do this. Will this be enough time? Do I also have to recheck my baggage or will it go to my end destination? Much appreciated

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to T3 and go through security. You barely have enough time assuming everything goes smoothly and all tickets are on the same reservation.
