I have a 45 minute layover on 2/19 arriving from MSP and connecting to Aruba. Will I have enough time to make the connecting flight?

Yes, you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I am flying from Kansas City to Chicago ORD arriving at 15.30 hrs. and I have connecting flight at 17.10 hrs to London by British Airways. Will the time sufficient to get the connecting flight

Yes, that is enough time. You can take the ATS train, which is faster but requires you to go through security again in T5, or the British Airways shuttle bus, which runs inside security, but infrequently.

    Thank you very much.

Can I get from C7 in terminal 1 to F21 in terminal 1 by walking or do I have to take the ATS. If I can walk, which would be quicker?

Yes, you can walk, You take an underground walkway from C to B, then walk to your right to F. There is a walkway between T1 and T2. It will take 10-15 minutes. Walking is faster because you don't have to go through security again.

    Thank You!

My daughters will be flying from Salt Lake City to Birmingham via Chicago. Their layover in Chicago is only 40 minutes. Will that be enough time to make their connecting flight?

Yes, but they will have to hurry between gates.

Hello, I have a friend coming in town from Texas and she has a 2.5 hour layover. Is there a way for me to get a guest pass to get through security and grab dinner with her at one of the restaurants there? Thank you

No, you cannot. She can exit security and you can have dinner in the Hilton.

I am travelling with only hand luggage from Delhi (DEL) to Chicago(ORD) through an Air India flight. I have a layover time of 2 hours for a connecting United Airlines flight to Austin (AUS). Will this time be sufficient to get done with customs and change terminals too?

Yes, that should be enough time. You can save additional time by checking in for your United flight online before you leave India.

Oh! I will check in online then. Thanks a lot!

Hello, My airline has proposed a schedule change. I would have 1,5 hours for a layover from Orlando to Amsterdam, now these connecting UA flights only have 60 minutes between arrival and departure. Will I have enough time to make it?

Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in terminal 1.

    Thank you so much!

Hi, I am lending at 6:55 AM in ORD, and my connection flight is at 12:30PM to OMAHA. Do you think I can go out to the city? Is that alllowed for canadians?

Yes, it is allowed, Canadians can go wherever they want in the US. However, you don't have a lot of time. It takes almost an hour to get downtown, so you wouldn't get there until after 8 and you'd have to head back to the airport at about 10. There's also not much to do in the early morning in downtown Chicago.

I am flying from San Francisco to Chicago with American Airlines. Then I will be flying from Chicago to Montreal, also with AA. The layover will be 50 min. Would this be enough time to go from a gate to another? Do I have to go through security? It will be on a Sunday around 8:30pm. Thanks!

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. That should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time. Both flights will be in Terminal 3. You will not have to go through security.

I will be coming from San Jose Mineta to ORD via United and from ORD to LGA via United. Is a 35 minute layover enough? This is my first time to have connecting flights. Thanks.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that will be enough time. Note however that United does not fly nonstop from SJC to ORD, so that flight will stop somewhere else first or you aren't flying United.

  • 2hrs 15 mins sufficient to get immigration,customs, terminal 3 to 5

I am taking Cathay Pacific Flight CX 7673 from Pittsburgh to Chicago(ORD). Then I need to get immigration, collect my luggage, run through customs and then move from terminal 3 to terminal 5 to board CX 807 to Hongkong. I have a time of max 2 hours for this. is it manageable?

Your first flight will be operated by American. Yes, that should be plenty of time. You actually will not go through Immigration or customs or do anything with your luggage in ORD on your way OUT of the US. All you have to do is exit Terminal 3, go to the ATS train, take it 1 stop to Terminal 5, and go through security and to your departure gate. Your bags will be automatically transferred.

Hey ZAP. Thanks for your reply. Does it mean the Immigration and Security would be done at Pittsburgh itself ? If there is no immigration to be done at Chicago(ORD), I also assume 2 hours should be fine.

You do not go through US Immigration when leaving the US. You will go through security in Pittsburgh. You will go through Hong Kong immigration when you get to Hong Kong (if that's your final destination).

Hi! I'll be arriving to ORD at 2:25pm (ANA Air from Narita) and will need to catch a UNITED flight to Washington DC (IDA) at 4:15pm. Will I need to go to immigration and claim my baggage? My travel agent told me that my baggage will be directly send to Washington DC, is it true? Will the time be enough for me to go through all of these steps?

Your travel agent is wrong. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, and then re-check your bags with United (even though your bag will be tagged through to IAD in Tokyo you will still have to claim it to go through customs). Then you will take the ATS Train to Terminal 1, go through security, and to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I found this note in ANA website: In Chicago If you are connecting from NH International flight, UA Connection Baggage Counter in Terminal 5 is also available for check-in. Can I use this?

Yes, you are supposed to drop your baggage in Terminal 5 after you clear customs. However, you still have to take the ATS Train to T1, go through security, and to your departure gate since that's where your departure gate will be.

Hi! I'll be arriving to ORD at 2:45pm (ANA 1012 arriving from Narita) and will need to catch a UNITED flight to Washington DC (IDA) at 4:15pm. Will I need to claim my baggage, go through security, change terminals, and then check-in again? Will the time be enough for me to go through all of these steps? I'm debating whether to just bring carry-on luggage so I don't need to worry about this short transfer time. Thank you very much!

We are arriving at Ohara on Copa airlines from Panama at midnight. Our domestic flight is at 6am at terminal 1. After going thru customs at terminal 5 and then taking the tram, will we be able to rest our weary feet until security opens at 4am?

There are a few places to sit in the lobby and baggage claim of T1, but not many.
