  • Coming in from Dublin Going to SFO. 45 mins
    Mar 29, 2015
I have a UNITED flight in from Dublin and will then have a layover of 45mins to fly to SFO. Do I have to do security from Terminal 5 to get to 2? and is 45 mins enough? Thank you!

  • 55 min layover?
    Mar 27, 2015
I am flying from san diego to ORD all on Iberia. From ORD I am flying to madrid also on iberia. Would 55 min be enough time?

Your first flight will be operated by American Airlines. in ORD you will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 5. You have to take the ATS Train between terminals and go through security in Terminal 5. You barely have enough time.

I will be travelling from YUL Montreal to Chicago with an 1hour 15 mins layover time to go to Honolulu. Both flights are with United Airlines. Will that be sufficient time? If i check in a bag, will i need to retrieve it at Chicago? or should they be transferring it for us? Thanks in advance

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

  • Will 40 minutes be enough?
    Mar 14, 2015
Hi, I will fly from ROA (Roanoke, VA) to ORD and have 40 minutes of layover for my next flight to NRT (Narita, Japan) in May. I have no ideas about the terminals for my arriving and departing flights. Will 40 minutes be enough for this connection? Thank you so much for your help!

    What airlines are you flying?

  • Is lay over time enough to catch the final flight?
    Mar 14, 2015
Dear Sir, We will be flying to SFO from LHR, via Chicago by BA.We are beyond 60 years and requested mobility assistance at Chicago which is confirmed. We have to get through immigration formalities and identification of checked in luggage(otherwise through booked to SFO) and move from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 for the connecting flight to SFO.The lay over time is 1 hr. 38 mins. May I request to know if this time is sufficient ?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Yes, assuming your tickets were purchased together that should be enough time.

Will an hour and 13 minutes be enough time to get from an arriving flight from Vancouver to my next flight flying to fort Lauderdale? How long is customs for people outside of the U.S?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. In Chicago you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • Hilton

Hi, I'll be traveling TO-ORD-DUB WITH A 2hr layover in ORD. I will have no checked bags. Looks like I will be coming in to terminal 1 and out of terminal 5. Will I have time to go to the gym for ~30min in the Hilton (outside term 2)?

    No, that's not enough time.

  • 50 minuten enough?
    Mar 2, 2015
Hello, from Orlando with American Airlines to Madrid with Iberia, will 50 min layovertime be enough? THz

That will be difficult as you will have to exit terminal 3 and take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. It's possible but there's very little time to spare in case your flight from Orlando is delayed.

Thank you very much for this clear reply!

  • Is 45 mins layover time enough
    Feb 25, 2015
im travelling from STL to ORD asd from ORD to newark throu United. In ord i have only 45 mins layover. Is it enough? I have a toddler with me. And do i have to go thro security check again?

Yes, that is enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. You will depart from Terminal 1. there is a walkway inside security connecting Terminal 1 and 2.

Thank you so much for the reply

  • 8:53am to 10:16am layover
    Jan 25, 2015
Is one hour and 23 minutes enough time to get through O'Hare and make connections between a United flight from YOW (Ottawa, Canada) to a United flight to Indianapolis (IND)?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Ottawa. In Chicago all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security.

  • Storing baggage during a layover
    Jan 21, 2015
We have a long layover at ORD, and our baggage can't be checked through. Where can we keep our luggage, and would four hours between flights leave enough time to go to the outlets?

There are no baggage storage facilities at ORD. Four hours isn't really enough time to leave the airport to do anything. The check in counter for your departing flight will probably open shortly after you arrive.

  • International Flight to Shanghai
    Jan 11, 2015
I'm booking a flight from Wichita KS to Shanghai on either American or United. The international connection is ORD. What is the length of time I should allow for the layover in ORD to make sure we have everything covered to reach our international flight to Shanghai in enough time? Thank you!

All you will have to do in Chicago on your way to Shanghai is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 45 minutes is enough, but 60 leaves more wiggle room. On the return flight you will need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little more since you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Chicago in Terminal 5 and then change terminals. But again, on the way to Shanghai, all you will have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 6 hours; no coat; suggestions?
    Jan 1, 2015
My wife and I have 6 hours (9am-3pm) layover on our way to SE Asia on Saturday Jan 10. Since we're packing light, we'll have no coats. Two questions: 1) is there any way to get to any downtown indoor attractions (Hancock or Sears tower, museums, etc.) without going outside at all? I was wondering about an in-airport train station to a skywalk/tunnel? 2) is there a place to store our carry-on bags at ORD? Thanks.

  • 1 and half hr enough time?
    Jan 1, 2015
I am flying from Wisconsin to ORD with American airline arriving at 4:30pm. then I have separate flight by delta from ORD to Philadelphia at 6pm. will I make it to delta airline?

Delta does not fly nonstop from ORD to Philadelphia. Are you flying somewhere else first or do you have the airline wrong? You can make your connection if you do not have checked bags. If you do have checked bags and you purchased separate tickets you don't have enough time to make your connection.

yes I bought separate tickets. I know delta is flying to Atlanta first and then Philadelphia. I don't have extra luggage. just hand carry. do u still think it will not be enough time?

kindly please reply if its doable or not..I still have time to cancel my reservation.

Without checked baggage yes, it is possible, you can walk from T3 where you will arrive to T2 where you will depart inside security. Print out your Delta boarding pass online before you leave Wisconsin or use the Delta app.

thank you so much.. really appreciated :)
