We land form LHR into terminal 5 and fly 3 hrs 15 minutes later out of terminal 1 onto Orlando all with United. We have been told we need to go through US immigration, claim bags & then forward baggage via internal transit. Is this correct or do we need to also go through customs and recheck baggage at a recheck desk? I understand that we need to take the ATS train to terminal 1 for our connecting departure flight, Is the ATS free? It is just that we are travelling with children and want to be informed so we have a stress free connection, thanks.

You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk in Terminal 5, then take the ATS Train (which is free) to Terminal 1 and go through security.

I have a layover in ORD. We land at gate f11 then need to go to gate B21, with only 47 minutes in between. These are only domestic flights, and from ny understanding these gates are in doffeeent terminals. Will we need to go through security again? And do we have enough time?

You do not have to go through security again. There is a walkway connecting Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 inside security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.

I have a flight at 7:05 am on Wednesday, can I pass security check on Tuesday night?

No, you can't. TSA in most terminals opens at 3:15 AM. That is the earliest you can go in.

Hi there. Is there enough 1 hour layover to get the connection from LAX, ORD to Frankfurt? It is the same terminal 1. Thank you.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hi I'm flying from Dublin, Ireland on aerlingus to ORD with a layover of 3hr 20 minute to IAH flying with United Airlines. Is 3hr 20 minutes enough time?

Yes, that is plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin.

I have flight in Dec. 16th from saint Louis, MO to Vienna and connecting flight in ORD and only have 1;20 min layover from 3 p.m. to 4:20 P.m. from terminal 2 to terminal 5. IS it enough ?? Should I check in again or there is another connecting gates different from the main checking point ??

Yes, that is just enough time if the first flight is on-time. You won't have to check in again if both flights are on the same reservation, just take the ATS Train from T2 to T5 and go through security.

I'm looking at a flight departing Dec. 31 from BWI & arriving at ORD with only 47 minutes before the next flight departs for Tokyo. All flights are on United. Is it possible to make this connection, especially since one flight is domestic & the other is international?

Yes, that is possible. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thanks!

I am planning from SFO to pittsburgh by UA .via ORD. layover time is 14hr. Do I have to re-check my baggage at ORD on the next morning ? or is it possible to transfer luggage automatically, not to re-rechek on ORD ?

Yes, with an overnight connection you will have to claim your bags and then re-check them the next morning. I suggest flying a redeye to ORD instead, what you have planned sounds even worse than a redeye. (I'm guessing UA's nonstop SFO-PIT flight either isn't operating the day you want to fly or is too expensive).

  • RECOMMENDED LAYOVER FOR DOMESTIC FLIGHT AT ORD AND EWR

We are planning a trip with a layover from LAX to either ORD or EWR. Before I make the reservation could you give me your recommended layover for ORD or EWR considering their airport connections on United. Thanks

ORD is a bit less delay prone. Also in Newark some connections between United and United Express require taking a shuttle to another terminal. At ORD all United gates are walkable inside security.

Thanks for the answer about ORD airport. How much time would you recommend for a domestic layover at ORD and LAX on United? I do not want to worry about missing a flight as we will be making three flights in one day. Thanks

Fly with United from Boston at 9{20, arrival ORD at 11:01 with 1 h: 47 min layover. Then transfer w/ United (ticket already on hand) to Beijing. Since often delay in ORD, I wonder the time enough or not? How about the distance between the two terminal ? Gates ? .

You don't have to change terminals. Both flights will be in Terminal 1. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

I have a layover from Narita to ORD (ANA) and a connecting flight with United to Columbus, Ohio with 2 hours to make the connection. I am not a US citizens travelling with Visa, do you think 2 hours is enough given it is a single reservation?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
