  • Is 45 mins layover time enough
    Feb 25, 2015
im travelling from STL to ORD asd from ORD to newark throu United. In ord i have only 45 mins layover. Is it enough? I have a toddler with me. And do i have to go thro security check again?

Yes, that is enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You may arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. You will depart from Terminal 1. there is a walkway inside security connecting Terminal 1 and 2.

Thank you so much for the reply

  • 8:53am to 10:16am layover
    Jan 25, 2015
Is one hour and 23 minutes enough time to get through O'Hare and make connections between a United flight from YOW (Ottawa, Canada) to a United flight to Indianapolis (IND)?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Ottawa. In Chicago all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security.

  • Storing baggage during a layover
    Jan 21, 2015
We have a long layover at ORD, and our baggage can't be checked through. Where can we keep our luggage, and would four hours between flights leave enough time to go to the outlets?

There are no baggage storage facilities at ORD. Four hours isn't really enough time to leave the airport to do anything. The check in counter for your departing flight will probably open shortly after you arrive.

  • International Flight to Shanghai
    Jan 11, 2015
I'm booking a flight from Wichita KS to Shanghai on either American or United. The international connection is ORD. What is the length of time I should allow for the layover in ORD to make sure we have everything covered to reach our international flight to Shanghai in enough time? Thank you!

All you will have to do in Chicago on your way to Shanghai is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 45 minutes is enough, but 60 leaves more wiggle room. On the return flight you will need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little more since you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Chicago in Terminal 5 and then change terminals. But again, on the way to Shanghai, all you will have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 6 hours; no coat; suggestions?
    Jan 1, 2015
My wife and I have 6 hours (9am-3pm) layover on our way to SE Asia on Saturday Jan 10. Since we're packing light, we'll have no coats. Two questions: 1) is there any way to get to any downtown indoor attractions (Hancock or Sears tower, museums, etc.) without going outside at all? I was wondering about an in-airport train station to a skywalk/tunnel? 2) is there a place to store our carry-on bags at ORD? Thanks.

  • 1 and half hr enough time?
    Jan 1, 2015
I am flying from Wisconsin to ORD with American airline arriving at 4:30pm. then I have separate flight by delta from ORD to Philadelphia at 6pm. will I make it to delta airline?

Delta does not fly nonstop from ORD to Philadelphia. Are you flying somewhere else first or do you have the airline wrong? You can make your connection if you do not have checked bags. If you do have checked bags and you purchased separate tickets you don't have enough time to make your connection.

yes I bought separate tickets. I know delta is flying to Atlanta first and then Philadelphia. I don't have extra luggage. just hand carry. do u still think it will not be enough time?

kindly please reply if its doable or not..I still have time to cancel my reservation.

Without checked baggage yes, it is possible, you can walk from T3 where you will arrive to T2 where you will depart inside security. Print out your Delta boarding pass online before you leave Wisconsin or use the Delta app.

thank you so much.. really appreciated :)

  • stow hand luggage for 8 hour layover
    Dec 29, 2015
Any ideas what we can do with our luggage during an 8 hour layover? We are flying business class with SAS and I have Star Alliance gold card with Lufthansa so was thinking possibly depositing in a loynge but exist that is highly subjective. The personnel may or may not allow it. Any other ideas? A hotel room isn't an option as we arrive at 1300.

Why will you have it during your layover? Did you purchase two separate tickets? If you are arriving on an international flight and connecting to United you will be allowed to re-check it immediately after customs.

I am flying from Kansas City to Chicago ORD arriving at 15.30 hrs. and I have connecting flight at 17.10 hrs to London by British Airways. Will the time sufficient to get the connecting flight

Yes, that is enough time. You can take the ATS train, which is faster but requires you to go through security again in T5, or the British Airways shuttle bus, which runs inside security, but infrequently.

    Thank you very much.

  • C7 to F21 in Terminal 1
    Dec 18, 2014
Can I get from C7 in terminal 1 to F21 in terminal 1 by walking or do I have to take the ATS. If I can walk, which would be quicker?

Yes, you can walk, You take an underground walkway from C to B, then walk to your right to F. There is a walkway between T1 and T2. It will take 10-15 minutes. Walking is faster because you don't have to go through security again.

    Thank You!

Hello, I have a friend coming in town from Texas and she has a 2.5 hour layover. Is there a way for me to get a guest pass to get through security and grab dinner with her at one of the restaurants there? Thank you

No, you cannot. She can exit security and you can have dinner in the Hilton.

  • 2 hrs layover enough?
    Dec 1, 2014
I am travelling with only hand luggage from Delhi (DEL) to Chicago(ORD) through an Air India flight. I have a layover time of 2 hours for a connecting United Airlines flight to Austin (AUS). Will this time be sufficient to get done with customs and change terminals too?

Yes, that should be enough time. You can save additional time by checking in for your United flight online before you leave India.

Oh! I will check in online then. Thanks a lot!

Hello, My airline has proposed a schedule change. I would have 1,5 hours for a layover from Orlando to Amsterdam, now these connecting UA flights only have 60 minutes between arrival and departure. Will I have enough time to make it?

Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in terminal 1.

    Thank you so much!

  • step out from ORD airport
    Sep 23, 2014
Hi, I am lending at 6:55 AM in ORD, and my connection flight is at 12:30PM to OMAHA. Do you think I can go out to the city? Is that alllowed for canadians?

Yes, it is allowed, Canadians can go wherever they want in the US. However, you don't have a lot of time. It takes almost an hour to get downtown, so you wouldn't get there until after 8 and you'd have to head back to the airport at about 10. There's also not much to do in the early morning in downtown Chicago.
