Hi! I am gonna fly from MKE to ORD with UA5013 (Terminal 2) and I am gonna depart to VIE (Vienna) with Austrian Airlines UA9850 (Terminal 5). I have a layover time of 1h 58min and I am European Citizen with J1 Visa. Will the layover time be enough if my first is on time? I suppose my baggage will be handed over automatically? I booked the flights together. Thank you for any help!

I am gonna fly from MKE to ORD (Terminal 2) and then from ORD (Terminal 5) to VIE (Vienna) with a layover time of 1h58min. Is this meant to be enough? Do I need to check in my luggage again or will it be transferred automatically to my next flight?

You don't have to do anything with your bags. You just take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. You should have enough time.

How much time do I need for layover at O'Hare? Flying from Springfield, IL to NY through Chicago.

I would want around 1 hour. United has hourly flights to both LaGuardia and Newark from O'Hare.

I will be traveling from New York to Edmonton, Canada, with a layover in Chicago for an hour and 20 mins. Will I have to re check my bags? Also doing the same layover on the way back would I have to recheck on return too? Thanks

You don't have to do anything with your bags either way assuming all tickets are on the same reservation. On the return you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Edmonton.

Thank you for your response, what if on the return my layover is in Calgary, would I have to recheck my bags then?

I am reaching terminal 5 at 6:35 pm by British Airways from London. I have a connecting flight to Memphis from terminal 3 at 8:10 pm. Is this time (1 hr35 mins) enough for the transit?

Flying into Chicago Friday arrival on American Airlines 5:43 pm depart 8:09 pm. Will I have time to meet family in the terminal for coffee and check back into security? Is this feasible?

No, don't even think about trying this - security at O'Hare is a complete mess right now.

Travelling from MAN (Manchester, England) to BNA (Nashville, TN) with a 2 hour layover in ORD (Chicago O'Hare). I have a UK Passport and will have to go through Customs at Chicago O'Hare. Flight is tomorrow, 5/16. Is the 2 hour layover enough time to get through Customs, through security and to my next terminal/gate? Flight times are landing in O'Hare at 3:00 pm at Terminal 5. Departing at 5:00 pm at Terminal 3. Also, will I have to pick up my bags before going through customs and then have them re-checked or will they go straight through? I have had both experiences even though I always have all flights on same reservation.

I have a 49min layover in Chicago before my flight to Shanghai. I am flying United throughout the whole trip. Will I be able to make it to my second flight?

Yes, all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

I am a foreigner taking United 3842 from Lansing to Chicago and then CX 807 to Hong Kong. Is a 2 hr 25 min layover enough? Do I have to claim my luggage and recheck it at ORD? Thank you very much.

If you purchased two separate reservations you will have to claim your bags from United in Terminal 1, then take them on the ATS Train to Terminal 5 to check with Cathay, then go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hello, we are making a connecting flight from YYZ (Toronto) - ORD - PEK (Beijing) this July. The layover is scheduled for 1h36m in ORD. Would that be enough time to make it to our connecting flight? Would we need to go through security and customs again?

We will also have to go from terminal 1 to terminal 2 in ORD to make our connecting flight.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto. You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1. They are connected inside security by a walkway. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, you have enough time.

Traveling from Beijing to ORD on Sunday May 29th (Memorial day weekend) and have a 2:05 layover to change from international to domestic, all on AA. Is this enough time???

Yes, that should be just enough time if your flight from Beijing arrives on-time.

Hi, Flying in from CPH to Chicago and will have 1h35 min to clear customs and recheck bags going on to HSV, AL. Will that be enough time?

Are the two tickets on one reservation or two separate ones? This is a difficult connection. What airline are you flying to HSV?

Our flight in is on United Express and flight out is on United. Does anyone know what terminals AND concourses these would be on. Also, where is the walkway between terminals 1 and 2 located - is it between certain concourses?

The walkway between 1 and 2 is at the base of the terminal, it goes from the Low numbered end of B (near B1) to the base of E/F. All United mainline flights use Terminal 1, they can use either the B or C concourse. United Express flights can use the A, B, E, or F concourses. All flights on CRJ-200 aircraft use E or F. Other than that it could be (almost) anywhere - the gates at the center of B and C are used almost exclusively for mainline aircraft.

  • coming from brussels - 1hour 54 minute layover

Hi! I'm flying from Brusssels and I have to catch a connecting flight to Saginaw in 1h 54minutes. Will that be enough time for the immigration and switching terminal? It's all with United. And do I have to pick up my luggage in Chicago? My return flight from Saginaw to Brussels would only have a layover of 1hour at Chicago O'hare. Do I have enough time for both flights?

On you way to Saginaw, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go up 2 floors to the ATS Train and take it to Terminal 2, go through security and to your departure gate. You have just about enough time. On your way back to Brussels you will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1. They are connected inside security by a walkway. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should also have enough time.

Thank you so much for your response!

Does this summary apply for an O'Hare layover on Berlin to Denver, then Denver to Berlin flights

Berliner, not exactly, the terminals depend on what airlines you are flying.
