  • PIT -> (layover time?) ORD -> International destination

I am traveling from Pittsburgh to Chicago OHare. At Chicago OHare, I am taking an international flight. Is 2 a hour layover time at Ohare enough? Will I clear security at Pittsburgh or Chicago OHare? I also will have checked baggage, so must I pick it up at Ohare or will it be checked to my final (international) destination?

What airlines are you flying? Did you buy your tickets together or separately?

Hello, we're flying United from Houston and have a connection time of only 40 mins to catch an international United Airlines flight to London. I noticed that United International Departures are in Terminal 1, but do the majority of inbound domestic United flights end up in terminal 1 as well or does United use a lot of terminal 2 for inbound domestic flights?

Both of your flights will be in Terminal 1.

  • Flying from Toronto YYZ connecting in ORD to fly to SAN San Diego

Hi there I am booking flights for our president. I need to know if a 1 hour and 23 minute layover is enough time at ORD (assuming the flight is on time) Arriving from Toronto, Canada, layover at ORD and connecting to San Diego The flights are both United flights

Yes, that is enough time. He or she will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All he or she has to do in Chicago is walk from the arrival gate to the departure gate.

Arriving from Denver, departing to Frankfurt Germany. Will we make our flight (if 1st is on time?)

    (United Airlines)

Yes, you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1.

  • LHR-ORD-LAX / BA and AA

Hi, I was wondering if I will have enough connecting time at ORD? I arrive from LHR by BA to terminal 5 at 13.45 and leave for LAX from terminal 3 at 15.10. It is all booked in the same reservation, but I will have checked luggage with me, and I am a EU national. I assume I will have to go through immigration and pick up my luggage and re-check it? So there is a big risk I will miss my connecting flight. What happens if I do? Will they rebook me free of charge? Thank you in advance!

That is 5 minutes shorter than the recommended International to Domestic connection time. Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, then re-check it at the transfer desk immediately after. Then take the ATS Train to T3 and go through security. You will probably make it if your flight arrives on-time. If you do miss your connection you will rebooked on the next available AA flight to LAX. AA has lots of flights from ORD to LAX.

  • ORD connection time from SFO to YXU through ORD

I am flying from SFO to London Ontario, canada through ORD on united/united express. There are two flights, one has a 1 hour 15 min connection the other option is a 2 hour connection. Is the 1 hour 15 min enough or should I book the 2 hour connection time

1 hr 15 is enough. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Would the gates be in the same terminal? And is the 6:38 am united flight from SFO usually on time?

Morning departures tend to be on-time more often. You will arrive in Terminal 1 and likely depart from Terminal 2, but they are connected inside security by a walkway.

Hi! I have a flight from Minneapolis to Chicago and then a connection to Abu Dhabi, but I will arrive to terminal 2 and the flight departures from terminal 5... I have 2 different tickets, so I probably have to claim my baggage, and check in again, I am also not from U.S. so I have to go through migration before I leave the country... Is it 3 hours enough time to do this?

There is no US exit immigration. You will just have to go through security in T5. 3 hours should be enough time.

Hi I will come from Dubai to Chicago and after 4 hr 30 min to connect my next flight to Nashville... So is it enough time for that? Both tickets are different... I am coming with emirates ... I think emirates airline is not punctual in time, is It? For that I will take long stopover... I have same schedule for return my journey... Thanks in advance... Priyank Patel...

That should be enough time both ways. Emirates runs on-time pretty regularly. What airline are you flying to Nashville?

    American Airline for Nashville...

Yes. that should be enough time. Terminal 3 where American operates and Terminal 5 where Emirates is are only one stop apart on the ATS Train.

    Thanks mate....

Can anyone tell me how long do i need to travel from Terminal 3 to terminal 5. I have 3 hours and 30 min layover time. With AA from RDU to ORD terminal 3, then my next connecting flight is Qatar Airway at terminal 5. Do I need to clear security and collect luggage at Terminal 3 before I travel to terminal 5 and re-check-in again my luggage?

If you purchased your tickets together you will not have to claim your baggage. However, you will have to go through security again in Terminal 5 after taking the ATS Train there.

  • How long to walk from Terminal 1 to 3?

My next connecting flight is in 48 minute time. How long it takes for me to walk from terminal 1 to 3? Do i still need to go through security again?

THere is a walkway between Terminal 1 and 3 inside security. But you could only make that connection if you don't have checked bags or your checked bags are tagged through to your final destination? Why do you even have to make such an odd connection?

Never been to ORD - quick layover in terminal 3 on AA - gate K2 to G16 with 40 minutes to get there and board. Will that be a problem?

That should be enough if the first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk between gates which shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes.

Can anyone tell me how long it'll take for a fat old lady (me!) to get from C21 to B22 inside Terminal 1?

15 minutes or so at most.

Thank you! It didn't look that far on the map but I've never been there!

Hello, I am going to arrive from Canada by the terminal 5 to go to San Francisco by the terminal 1. 2 flights with United.Do I have enough time with 70 min.? How do I have to proceed? Thank you for answering me

Where in Canada are you coming from? If you are coming from London or Quebec City, that is not enough time to make your connection. The minimum International to Domestic connection time for non-preclearance flights is 90 minutes. If you are coming from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver, or Edmonton you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Canada and arrive in Terminal 1 or 2.

from Quebec city. and I have 1h40 from terminal 1 to terminal 5. (not 70 minutes). do you think it's enough?

1 hr 40 minutes should be enough time.

    thank you

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security.

  • 35 minute connection, enough time?

I have just been notified from a third party booking agency that used used that AA has changed our flights for 5-18-15. Now my family & I are traveling from Orange County to Chicago O'Hara to Boston Logan to Dublin Ireland. The flight connection from Chicago to Boston is about 35 minutes. We have never been to either Chicago O'Hara or Boston Logan. Both flights are on AA. Can we & our luggage make it? Or should I have the travel agency come up with other flights? We already have hotel in Dublin booked for the 19th. And no travel insurance. I am in panic mode & close to tears over this, was notified less than an hour ago about change. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is certainly possible to change between two AA flights in Chicago in 35 minutes. All gates are connected inside security and in Terminal 3. Also, if you miss your connection there are several nonstop flights from Chicago to Dublin. If you miss your flight because your flight from Orange County is delayed you could have AA rebook you onto one of those flights.
