I have flown AA before (last yr) and arrived at T3 and then departed out of T3 but still had to pick up my bags after going through Ohare Customs and then had to go back out through security is this still the procedure and if so will 1:40 be enough time

Dublin flights pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation you should not have to claim your bags in O'Hare.

Ive never been in ORD airport my flight arrives at 5:38 in T3 Gate L6a and I need to go to Gate K9 in T3 and that flights leaves at 6:15 do I have enough time to get there before they close the door?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Walking between those gates should take less than 10 minutes.

Hello - We arrive in ORD from MKE at 18:30. Our flight to DUB departs at 20:00. Is 90 minutes enough time to get from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5 and get through security in Terminal 5? Our tickets were bought together, so this 90 minutes is a layover. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time.

I am arriving on British Airways (operated by American Airlines) at 20:00 hrs on Thu June 18. My Connecting flight, British Airways (operated by American Airlines) to St Louis is at 22:00 hours. This is all on one ticket. Is 2 hours enough time to get the luggage, get through customs, recheck the luggage, go through security, etc.

    This is at Chicago O'Hare

Yes, that should be enough time. Note that after you re-check your luggage you will have to take the ATS Train from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 where you will go through security and to your gate.

I will be connecting in O'Hare from Munich in Oct. I arrive at 3:10 PM and depart for Denver at 5:30. Is that enough time for customs and reboarding? That's assuming flights are on time.

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hellow i am a 14 yo traveling aline. I will fly from atlanta to chicago and then from chicago to amman jordan. What will i have to do when i landin ohare.

If you purchased your tickets on one reservation then all you have to do is go from your arrival terminal to Terminal 5 on the ATS Train, get your Royal Jordianian boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. If your parents purchased two separate tickets, you will have to claim your bags from your first airline and then bring them on the ATS Train to Terminal 5 to check them with Royal Jordanian.

On June 29 I am flying on United arriving at 2:57pm. My connecting flight to Frankfort, Germany on United departs at 3:55pm. Is 58 minutes enough time to make this connection?

Where are you flying in from and where are you connecting?

Flying in from Louisville KY to Chicago then on to Frankfort Germany all on United

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates in Chicago are connected inside security.

I am arriving from Calgari to Chicago at 1639 hrs by UA (operated by Skywest) and have a connecting flight to Washington DCA at 1800 hrs by UA. Is the connecting time enough? Do i have to do custom clearance at Chicago?

Assuming you are coming from Calgary, Alberta, Canada (not Caligari, Italy), you will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary. ALl you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time. You may arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. You will depart from Terminal 1. 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway.

In early July I will be arriving from a domestic United flight and then have a 90 minute layover until my Aer Lingus flight to Dublin. I bought my tickets together. Do I have enough time?

Actually my connection is 75 minutes.

At O'Hare? Yes, that should be enough time. You just have to take the ATS Train from T1 to T5 and go through security.

Traveling from Lincoln to Grand Rapids on United with a 50 min. layover... Is this enough time?

Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate (likely in Terminal 2) to your departure gate (in Terminal 1 or 2). Terminals 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway.

Hello. This is my itinerary on 24/07/2015: BLQ-FRA LH291 06.15-07.45 FRA-ORD UA906 12.45-15.55 ORD-YYC UA1265 16.40-19.33 Is it 1 hr 45 mins enough time to get to my connecting flight in ORD? What are the procedures and the best way to get connected? I'm Italian citizen, purchased the tickets together with UA and will travel with checked bags (bicycle!!). Any chance that I can pre-clear US Customs and Immigration in Italy or Germany and get all my bags sent directly to my final destination? Thank you so much for any help

Just checked with US Customs and Border Protection, unfortunately no preclearance available, sorry for the silly question. I fly to Australia once a year connecting in Dubai and It never occurred to me that I might have to claim my bags in ORD and re-check them..I'm getting more worried now!!!

The only airports in Europe with preclearance are Dublin and Shannon in Ireland. 1 Hr 45 minutes should be enough time in Chicago. Yes, in Chicago you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 and go through security. Again, it should be barely enough time if your flight from Frankfurt is on-time.

Thank you so much for the quick answer and all the useful information!!!

Hi, travelling with 3yo and arrive on air canada into ord t1with exactly 1hr 10 mins before connecting on united in t2 to japan. Is that sufficient time? We will have checked baggage....not sure if we need to go through security again as well? Thanks for responses....

No flights to Japan depart from T2. You will arrive in T2 and depart from T1. They are connected inside security by a walkway. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

Thanks a lot ZAP!!! And yes it is arriving ord T2 and flying out t1! Thanks again! Huge relief to know!

Hi. On a Tuesday in mid-June I have a flight arriving from PDX (Portland) at 4:28 p.m. Then I'm going to a flight to CDG (Paris), leaving at 6:05 p.m. I know I'll need to go through international customs at O'Hare – will this time be sufficient? Both flights are booked on United. (The last time I made a similar connection, it was close – the customs area was packed.)

You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1. You should have plenty of time.

I'm sorry, "customs" was the wrong word. I know US citizens don't do that before leaving the US. I meant the security line that you need to go through before getting into the international terminal at O'Hare. Last year, when I flew from PDX to ORD to Stockholm, the security line at O'Hare took more than 90 minutes and was very chaotic. (This was after I'd already gone through security screening at PDX.) I just don't know if that particular day was unusual, or if it's always like that.

Of course, if it's the case that my domestic arrival and international departure (both on United) are in the same terminal, then it should be fine! Last year I arrived at ORD on a domestic flight and left on Scandinavian Airlines. They were code-sharing partners, but maybe that accounted for the terminal change I had to do. I had 2.5 hours between my flights and just barely made it.

That security line would be unusual. Also, yes, any nonstop flight from Chicago to Paris bought from United will be operated by United and leave from Terminal 1, the same terminal where you will arrive.

    Thanks, ZAP.

  • AA flight connection

I have a 40 minute connection this summer for a domestic flight (SNA to BUF) on AA. Will that be enough time even if my flight out runs a few minutes late?

That would be barely enough time assuming the first flight is on-time.
