Flight from Austin to Hong Kong is connecting through ORD. Some of the layovers seem a little short; what is the minimum time we need? Group of 5, 4 US and one Chinese.

Hi, I am planning to make a trip to San Francisco, but this is my first trip with a flight connection. I am flying with United from Brussels to Chicago (ORD) and then from Chicago (ORD) to San Francisco (SFO). I only have approximately 2 hours to get to my next flight. What is the procedure for a connecting flight in Chicago? Do I have to claim my baggage and then recheck-in? I also read that I'll arrive a terminal 5 and I'll depart at terminal 1. Thank you for reading this!

At ORD you arrive at Terminal 5 (T5) where you need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs & re-check-in bags where indicated (bags will then be transferred to T1 flight) - thereafter, proceed one level up to the ATS transit level & take the ATS train, running every few mins, to T1, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. T1 has Concourses B & C (with B & C gates) - both used by United.

i will have an american airlines flight coming in from orlando and have to change to an american airlines flight heading for london heathrow, time for changing is only 65 minutes. is that doable? best regards woledi

American uses Terminal 3 (T3) with Concourses/ gates G, H, K & L; as well as and T5 with Concourse/gates M (tickets could read T3-G, T5-M). While the ATS train runs between all terminal at their pre-security areas (requiring security check at connecting terminal), you may walk between the concourses of Terminal 3. Either way you have enough time for transfer.

Ignore sunov. Both of your flights will be in Terminal 3. You only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you have enough time.

I'm flying from Berlin to ORD on Airberlin. How much time will I need to get to an AA flight to DFW? I am a US citizen with Global entry and TSA precheck. I did not purchase my tickets together but did get them thru AA.

90 minutes bare minimum, 2 hours to be safe.

I am flying from Madrid to Chicago and then getting a connecting to flight to Minneapolis. I only have 1 hour and 15 minutes to get my bags, go through customs, recheck my bags, and get to my new flight in terminal 3. Is that enough time?

It's below the minimum connection time by 15 minutes, you'll have to hurry.

Flying from LGA to BER, layover in ORD (AA to Air Berlin). Is 1.5 hour enough to make the connection? Do I recheck baggage in ORD? Thanks!

If you bought your tickets together you don't have to do anything with your bags. Just walk between your gates. You have plenty of time.

I will be arriving into ORD T5 from NRT at 2:30PM and departing from ORD T1 to CLT 4:15PM. Is 1 hour and 45 minutes enough time to make it to my connecting flight? I am travelling during the holiday season and am anxious about missing my flight. My tickets are all booked through United. Thank you

    Edit: Travelling on December 22

Just checked my flight has been changed so I now have 1 hour 31 minutes of connecting time

Yes that is enough time but doesn't leave much to spare.

Hi, I will take a flight from denver and arrive at O'hare at around 11:22 on Dec.6th. Then I will take another flight at 14:25 to China. The two tickets are booked separately.... I am afraid the snow will delay the flight.. Will the time be sufficient? Thanks!

Snow on December 6 is unlikely. You should have plenty of time.

Thank you very much for your response. I guess I need to pick up baggage, go through the security check ,then transfer to another terminal. In this case, would 3 hours be enough? Thanks~

Hello, I am flying into ORD from HYD at 3pm and then taking another flight to SFO. Both these travels are booked on separate tickets and airlines. I wanted to know how to transfer my 2 large bags from terminal 5 to 1. Do I have to take them through the ATS or is there a way to check in before I take the ATS? I am travelling in February and I am worried about the snow.

Yes you have to take them on the ATS. Snow may delay your journey but will not affect your connection. The ATS stations are indoors.

I'm flying from Toronto to Cincinnati through Chicago. I'm arriving in Chicago on 10:40 a.m. on Terminal 2 and leaving at 11:26 a.m. from Terminal 1. Is 45 minutes enough time for me to transfer? Is it enough time for them to transfer my bags?

Yes it is enough time but doesn't leave much time to spare in case of a delay.

Hi, my flight will arrive in ORD from (Sao paulo/GRU) at 5.35am and my next connection to IAH will depart at 7.30am. Both are with United and under the same ticket. Will this 1 hr 55 min connection be enough?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS train to T1 and go through security and to your departure gate.

Return from HYD >> ORD : Air India, ORD>>YYZ: Air Canada my friend told me, after customs, last time he had to carry luggage thru Train to another terminal, as there is no way to transfer baggage thru Transfer Desk? What should I do to ensure it can be sent thru transfer desk? who will take care this? Air India or Air Canada? In the event, I need to take luggage (8 large bags) all by myself to other Terminal by Train, will there any Porters for paid luggage carrying service? Onway connection time: 5 hrs Return connection Time : 6 hrs is there any child Play Area?

Booked all flights in one ticket

Did you purchase your tickets separately or together? If separately, yes, you will have to take it on the ATS train and no there are no porters. There are child play areas in most terminals, but they are nothing special.

Ah, now I see that you did book on one ticket. On your way to HYD you won't have to do anything with your baggage at all in ORD and on your way back you will be able to re-check it at the transfer desk after clearing customs in T5 and won't have to bring it on the train.

Thanks for your prompt response. Do I have to ask Air India folks in India to tag all the way to Toronto? I am coming at 6.30, I guess Transfer Desk will be available at that time.

Yes, you ask the Air India desk in India to tag your bag through to Toronto. That way you can use the Transfer desk at O'hare.

HI, I am arriving from Dublin on the 18th of November to T5 at 15.30 and need to catch a flight to SF at 17.00 from T1, Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. As all flights from Dublin now go through US Immigration and Customs Preclearance in Dublin, all you have to do is take the ATS Train from T5 to T1, get your boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security.

Thank you for being so prompt on this!

Hi! I am flying into ORD from Cleveand to catch a connecting flight to Viena. The arrival is at T1, but the Departure is at T5. Is there going to be enough time to catch the my flight?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. It only takes about 15 minutes to get from T1 to T5 on the ATS train. That leaves you close to 90 minutes to get through security and to your gate.

Thank you for your fast reply.
