  • Do i need to recheck baggage at ORD
    Oct 19, 2016
Do I need to recheck baggage at Chicago ORD airport as travelling from Kansas to delhi via Chicago on Kansas to delhi via united and Chicago to delhi via air india. Both tickets are booked under same reservation.. Do I have to take luggage from terminal 1 to terminal 5 by own or it would be automatically transferred

You won't have to do anything with your bags in Chicago on your way to Delhi since everything is on the same reservation.

  • 2.5 hours layover enough
    Oct 19, 2016
Hey, I am planning to travel in December via ORD to Nashville. I would arrive with Air Berlin at 11:55 AM and am looking at a connecting flight with United that leaves at 2:30 PM. Will that give me enough time to go through immigration and Co. as an EU citizen? Thanks a lot!

Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

You will arrive in Terminal 3 and Qatar Airways uses Terminal 5. You can't walk - you have to take the ATS from 3 to 5 and go through security.

Thanks,1h50min is enough time for that?

Yes, that should be just enough time.

  • Delta T2 - China Eastern T5
    Oct 17, 2016
I'm flying in on Delta and arrive at 11:40 and am flying out on China Eastern at 1:50. Is this enough time to move between T2 and T5? Will I have to clear security in T5?

Yes, you will have to go through security again in T5. That is enough time if your bags are checked through and the Delta flight is on-time.

My flight with United from Vancouver will arrive at T5 (international). Do I have to do the immigration again in ORD? My flight to EWR with United will leave 1hour 10min after arrival from T1. Is this enough time?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You will arrive in Terminal 1 and depart from Terminal 1. All you have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Oct 13, 2016
hi i am travelling from dallas (DFW) to Montreal (canada) and i am connecting through chicago (ORD) airport .. I just have 56 min to connect , is it enough time ?

Yes, that is enough time. If both tickets are on the same reservation all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • connection time
    Oct 13, 2016
I'll be connecting in ORD, arriving on UA into T1 connecting with SAS out of T5, and reverse on return. I have 1hr 10min connection on the outbound and 1hr 45 min. connection on return. Do you think this is enough time on both?

It's possible but leaves no room for error both ways.

  • connecting from las vegas to frankfurt thru chicago ORD
    Oct 13, 2016
I am travelling with united from las vegas to frankfurt thru ORD with only 1 hr 15 min connecting time. Is it possible. Do I have to check my luggage. Do I have to go thru security and customs. I guess that I arrive and I leave from the same terminal 1.

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.. You have enough time.

  • 58 min connection
    Oct 10, 2016
Im in a bind booking a ticket on thursday and one of the options is ua5677 onto ua578 with a 58 minute layover from terminal 1 to terminal 2 and i was wondering if that is enough time.

Yes, that's plenty of time. There is a walkway connecting T1 and T2 inside security and all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 50 min between connecting flight
    Oct 6, 2016
I will be staying on the same airline but going from terminal 2 to terminal 1. UA3989-UA4460. Is 50 min enough time to get to the next flight and board in time? Assuming I can send luggage straight to my destination. Would I have to go back through security between terminals?

Yes, that is enough time. You do not have to go through security. There is a walkway inside security between T1 and T2.

  • Short layover
    Oct 6, 2016
I am flying from the uk to Miami via Chicago oh are. I only have 1.5 hours until my next flight. Is it possible to pass customs collect luggage, recheck luggage and get from terminal 5 to terminal 3 to board in that short time

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • Switching Airlines & Rechecking bags
    Oct 5, 2016
I am going on united from RSW - ORD on Christmas day. I have a 2hr 9min layover to switch frontier for my flight to Vegas. I have to recheck bags. Will that be enough time? Do I need to change to AA and alow 4hr instead of 2hr? Please let me know! Haven't booked yet.

With checked bags I would be much more comfortable with a 4 hour layover than 2.

  • MSP to ORD to DEL
    Oct 5, 2016
Hi - I have a United flight from MSP to ORD which should be T1 and then a Air India international flight from ORD to DEL. Both have been ticketed separately. 1) Question is how do I move my checked luggage from T1 to T5? Dont think we are allowed to carry lugagge carts on the Airtrains ? 2) Also on my way back, I have a 2.5 hours layover between my arrival at ORD and then return flight to MSP. Will this be sufficient to do the immigration, customs & then move luggage from T5 to T1? 3) Can I check in my luggage at United travel desk on T5 if its not ticketed together with Air India flight?

You can't bring rental carts on the ATS but you can bring a personal foldable cart in your checked baggage. On the way back to MSP you will have to take your bags to the United counter in T1 to re-check it with United.

  • AA connection on seperate tickets
    Oct 3, 2016
I am traveling through O'hare in December and my connecting flight to Columbus will be on a seperate ticket. Both flights will be operated by American, though. My flight will arrive from London at 2:55pm and I'm seated in business class so it shouldn't take too long to get off the plane. Is it safe to book with a 2h15 connection or should I opt for a 3h45 layover? Also, it would be great to know, if I can recheck my bags after customs in T5 or if I have to check them at the American Airlines desk in T3. Thank you.

If you show your reservation for your flight to Columbus to the AA agent in london they should be able to tag your bags through to Columbus, then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk in T5, otherwise you will have to take them with you to T3. I personally would book the 3 hr 45 min, but 2:15 is doable.

Thanks for the input, Zap! I found some news articles, that claim oneworld stopped checking bags through on two seperate bookings, though you never know how they handle it in practice. I'm going to book the 3h45 layover to play it safe.

That's only if it's on two different airlines. If both flights are on American it shouldn't be a problem.
