  • Alaska ->American SEA ORD Shop?

Arriving Alaska 6:34 pm ORD - depart American 9:10 pm, teenage son would like to spend time at new mall 17-10 min from airport. 1 - Does Alaska transfer checked baggage directly to American flight? 2 - Does 2-1/2 hours allow safe time to check out mall?

If you purchased your tickets together then your bags will be checked through to American. 2.5 hours is enough time to get to the Rosemont mall but realistically leaves you very little time there, since its close to 30 minutes journey each way and you will have to go through security when you return.

I am looking at booking a flight through UA and there is only a 1 hr and 9 minute layover. Is that enough time to make our connection. I may have a slow elderly person traveling. Will that make a difference?

Is your first flight domestic or international?

HI Arriving on AA (AA111) from Europe. Landing at 15:10 and catching connecting flight to Phoenix on AA 640 at 17:00. With just under 2 hours of transit time will I have enough time to clear customs and make my way from terminal 5 to terminal 3 ? Thank you for your help.

Yes, that should be enough time.

Flying in on Friday march 20th via spirit for a layover. Arriving via spirit at 7:37 pm and departing on spirit at 8:17 pm. Is this enough time? I believe so since it's the same carrier, though I have never had a layover before

Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. All Spirit flights at ORD use just a handful of gates in the L concourse.

arriving in chicago at 9:50 and departureon a flight to China at 10:40 on same airline UA. WILL i HAVE ENOUGH TIME.? iS THERE ANY ESCORT TO TRANSPORT ME TO NEXT GATE AND TROUGHT SECURITYO THE NEXT FLIGHT?

You do not have to go through security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates are connected inside security. You do not need an escort.

Hey Zap, we are flying from LHR to SFO via ORD. We will be arriving 21.3.2015 at 18:30, Terminal 5, our connecting flight is departing at 20:15, Terminal 3, with American Airlines. We bouhgt the tickets together from British Airways Airlines /part of the services are operated by American Airlines/. What do you think 1:45 h is enough time for non US citizen (as an european /ESTA, etc/)? Do we have to pick up our baggage and pre-check them again? Thank you for your help. Eva an Alex

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Transfer Terminal 5 to Terminal 3

I will be arriving at Terminal 5 at 18.35 and leaving from Terminal 3 at 20.06 (1hr 31 minute layover). I won't be pre-cleared and I may have to transfer my bags, though all flights are in the British Airways group. Will I have enough time?

That is barely enough time. You can re-check your bags with American immediately after clearing customs in T5. You don't need to bring your bags with you to T3 on the train. You will go through security in T3.

I"m flying from BOI to ORD to EDI all United. Do I have to claim my baggage at ORD and recheck it for the EDI flight?

No, you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate on your way to EDI. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security.

  • Enough Layout Time?
    Mar 11, 2015

My friend is travelling from FRA via UA arriving at terminal 5 while being on ESTA. Next she has to catch a domestic flight operated by EastAsia Airlines to Burlington IA through. The layout time in ORD is 2.5 hours. Can anybody inform me if this time is sufficient enough? Thank you

    Layover time btw :)

The name of the airline that flies to Burlingtion, Iowa is called Air Choice One. They operate from Terminal 3. That should be enough time. They likely won't be able to check her bags through to BRL, so she will probably have to claim them in T5 and bring them to T3 to check with Air Choice One. Even if they are able to tag them through to BRL, she will have to claim them to go through customs, but then will be able to re-check them in T5. Either way I think she has enough time.

  • Transferring baggage from terminal 3 to terminal 5

My Mother is travelling via Air India from terminal 5. She is landing in terminal 3 via US Airways. Since the airlines are different she needs to re-checkin her baggages. Since the air india counter is only in terminal 5 she will have to take the baggages from terminal 3 to terminal 5. I have heard that baggage is not allowed in ATS?? If not, then what is the alternative? Does she need to take porter assistance?

Yes, she will have to take her baggage with her to T5. Baggage is allowed on the ATS. The only thing that is not allowed are the rental baggage carts.

  • layover time--enough?
    Mar 10, 2015

Sorry for a double post--maybe this is the right forum. I am looking into tickets, and for the return trip I have 90 minute layover at ORD. The arrival is from Frankfurt into Terminal 5 (United/Lufthansa codeshare), the departure on United is from terminal 1 or 2. Is 90 minutes enough to get through passport control, customs, then to the other terminal? I will probably have only a carry-on, but not sure., Thanks

90 minutes is enough time, especially if you aren't checking a bag.

  • layover time--adequate?

On May 7 I will be arriving into ORD at 7:15 p.m. on United, and at 8:50 p.m. I have a United flight to Richmond. I do not know the terminals I would land at. Does 1:35 seem like enough time to go through passport control & customs, and then get to the departure terminal? I doubt I'll have bags checked (just carry-on)

Sorry, flying into ORD from Frankfurt (Lufthansa/United codeshare), looks like T5 arrival. Departure might be T1 or T2. An hour-and-a-half--enough to get through passport/customs and then to departing gate?
