T5 to T3May 24, 201311I'm a bit nervous about my connecting flight at ORD Arrive AA at T5 gate M1 at 5:00pm. And then depart AA at 6:40pm from T3. I checked connecting times and it said 1hr30mins. So I feel it can be done if everything is in time. But I don't know the routine. What will I have to do? Leave secure area and recheck in at the new terminal? Customs? Get bags?jeromysuposted on Fri, May 24Yes, you will claim your bags in immigration, then re-check them with American when you exit customs. Then go upstairs and take the ATS train to T3, then go through security again and go to your gate. Since both of your flights are on American you should get both boarding passes when you check in for your first flight. Immigration has been pretty slow lately so there's a decent chance you'll miss your connection. Hopefully there's another later flight to your final destination that you can be rebooked on if that's the case.ZAPposted on Fri, May 241 person likes this post [ Like ]

BA297connectionMay 21, 201310We arrive on BA 297 on a Wednesday, and as another poster mentioned it is always late. So assuming, a 6:30pm arrival can we make an 8:05 AA FLIGHT out of terminal 3? We are US citizens if that matters in clearing customs. There ate no later flights that day so I guess we will be stuck, if we can't make it.Dcismithposted on Mon, May 20

Terminal Q.May 19, 201310Like many people on here, I'm nervous about connecting terminals. How often does the ATS tram run? I'm flying BA (AA flight into Chicago), and I have 2 hours and 5 min to get from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5. I don't think I'll have to re-check my bag as AA and BA are partnered airlines, but I'm nervous about making the connection (especially since people have been saying BA usually runs late...?). I'll be departing/arriving this coming Wednesday if that helps. Any previous experience or advice would be much appreciated!CCWposted on Sun, May 19

Meeting Up for International FlightMay 19, 201310A friend and I plan to meet at O'Hare for a flight to Paris. We are both flying on American--she is coming on 4176 from Little Rock and I am on 898 from St. Louis. Our arrival times are just 5 min. apart. I was told we can't check our luggage all the way through to Paris. We'd like to meet up near baggage claim and then go down to Terminal 5 together. Any suggestions to help us?Blacksherposted on Sun, May 19

Do I have to go through Security Again?May 19, 201310I will be arriving in Chicago in Terminal 1 and have to go to Terminal 3 for my next flight. I think it's a transfer by tram?? Will I have to go through security again?Concernedposted on Sat, May 18At ORD, Terminals 1 & 3 are connected by walkways inside security - at T3 you would arrive near Concourse G. You can also take the ATS shuttle train but need to go through security check before proceeding to your gate. Terminal 3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates.sumayq13posted on Sun, May 19

35 min. layover enough?May 19, 201310I had booked a flight for me and 2 friends through American Airlines/British Airways from St. Louis to London with a layover in Chicago of 1 1/2 hours. They changed when the flight leaves St. Louis to an hour later and the flight out of Chicago to only 5 mins. later than the original (to get them within their time limit). That now leaves us only 35 minutes to disembark, find the tram, make the transfer to the other terminal, get checked in and board. Is this even possible?! I'm so frustrated with the airline for changing the flights!!Concernedposted on Sat, May 18AA & British are part of OneWorld Alliance - your bags will automatically be transferred. AA uses Terminal 3, British Terminal 5 (M gates). Take the ATS train which runs continuously in the unsecured areas of the terminals, above the upper-level roadway (signs will guide you), but you need to go through security check at T5 before proceeding to your gate. Gates wrap around concessions court: left gates M12-21; right M7-M1 and in center northward M8-M11. Alert your flight attendant that you need to be first ones out leaving the plane!PilotJoeposted on Sun, May 19

Time btw T1 and T3 with checked luggageMay 17, 201320I will have to connect flying in from Houston with United Airlines and out to Waterloo (IA) with American Airlines 3005 at 7:55 pm. I will have luggage to check. Would UA 1575 arriving at 6:20 pm allow sufficient lay-over time, or should I take UA 1299 arriving at 5:09 pm to be on the safe side ?MOAposted on Fri, May 17Yes it would be a better idea to use UA for both flights, as baggage claim, re-check & going through security check would make it extremely tight.frmay13posted on Fri, May 17United does not fly to Waterloo, Iowa so it's not an option. You could however fly American for both flights. Taking UA 1299 would leave you plenty of time assuming everything runs on-time. If you book your tickets on one itinerary you can even have your bags checked through to waterloo in Houston.ZAPposted on Fri, May 17

Friend leaving from a different terminalMay 18, 201340Hi! I'm leaving from O'Hare and so is a close friend. We're trying to figure out how to stay together as long as possible before our flights. Mine leaves a few hours after hers, and I'm leaving from Terminal 3 while she's leaving from Terminal 1. Are either or both of these scenarios possible: 1) Can I check in at Terminal 3, she check in at Terminal 1, and can I walk to meet her at her gate after clearing security at Terminal 3? The terminals do connect after clearing security, right? OR 2) Can I check in at Terminal 3, drop my bags, then before going through security go with her to Terminal 1, where she can check in...? My real question is, can I go WITH her through security at her terminal (T-1) even though I've dropped my bags at Terminal 3? Thanks so much!CEG2013posted on Thu, May 16Either scenario works. However I think that 1 would be the easiest.ZAPposted on Thu, May 16Thanks so much! So you're positive that I can wait with someone at her gate who's leaving on a different airline in any of the three terminals (T-1, T-2, T-3)? United Airlines told me that each airline has its own gates cordoned off and that someone travelling on one airline can't wait at the gate with someone traveling on another. :P Is this not true (I'm hoping it isn't)?CEG2013posted on Thu, May 16That's not true. Nobody checks what airline you're flying on when you're just waiting at the gateZAPposted on Fri, May 17Thanks again! So all terminals connect airside, and there are no checkpoints that would stop me from walkmg from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 airside (past security) because my ticket is on American? Thinking of checking in at Terminal 3 and going to meet her at her gate at Terminal 1 and just want to be sure I can do this. Please let me know. Thanks again!CEG2013posted on Sat, May 18

Time to transit from T5 on a Wednesday aMay 20, 201320ba297 is always late at least 30 - 40 minutes giving us only am hour and 20 or 20 minutes to make our flight connection in T3' is this doable On a Wednesdat around 6:30 pm?Anxious momposted on Wed, May 15I see most days BA297 doesn't get in until 6:30 or later, so I think it's very unlikely you'll be able to make a 6:30 PM AA connection. If there's a later flight to your destination you'll be rebooked on that.ZAPposted on Thu, May 16

Will I make my connection?is it POposted on Wed, May 15At O'Hare Airport, on arrival at Terminal 1, follow signs to the free ATS shuttle train running every few minutes in the unsecured areas of the terminals - meaning that on arrival at Terminal 5 you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate (M gate). You may need about 25 mins from gate to gate.thmay13posted on Thu, May 16
