I'm looking at at ticket that arrives at terminal 5 and departs from terminal 2. Both are international flights, meaning I will not actually enter the US. Do I still need to go through baggage claim and immigration? Also, will 1hr 35min be enough time for the transfer?

AA changed my flight from SJD to land at 7:10 pm in ORD and my connecting domestic flight to ALO leaves at 8:10. I know that is less than the minimum connecting time for an international flight return per the airline. If the flight is on time and I do not have any checked bags, do I have a chance of making the connecting flight after getting through customs? My only other options are flying to a different final city and driving the rest or having a (scheduled :-)) overnight layover.

Without checked bags you do have a chance - there's a special line for passengers without checked bags and security lines start getting very short after 7 PM.

I am landing in o hare airport, terminal 2 and only have 1 hour 45 mins to catch connecting flight from terminal 5. Is that enough time?

If you purchased your tickets together, yes, that should be enough time.

How do I get to terminal 5 from terminal 2

The ATS Train connects them outside security.

We have an hour between arrival from DC on flight 670 and departure to Indy on 597. Is that enough time to make the connection

What airline are you flying? If both flights are on United or Both flights are on American that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

we are flying from STL to FCO with a layover in ORD. All flights are AA. We have a 1 hour layover. Is that enough time? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in Terminal 3.

I am considering flying to OKC from CLE with a 38 minute layover at ORD. Both are united flights purchased together. Is this enough time if I have checked baggage?

Yes, it is enough time but obviously leaves very little time to spare in case your first flight is delayed.

51 minutes between arrival and departure; what happens if we don't make it?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security. If you miss it due to a late flight you will be rebooked on the next available flight to Winnipeg.

thanks - if arrival is late, next flight isn't 'til next morning - does UA put us in a hotel?

It depends on the reason the flight was delayed.

Hi, i m having connection in ORD, coming in from Heathrow (terminal 5, AA flight) and flying to Lambert, St Louis Int. (terminal 3). Do i have to claim out luggage and re check or will it be transferred for me?

You will arrive in T5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS Train one stop to T3 and go through security and to your departure gate.

  • 50 minute layover enough time?

Hi, I am considering buying a ticket and am wondering if I have enough time to make the following connection: Arriving at 11:20 AM on a United Airlines domestic flight (from ROC), and departing on an American Airlines domestic flight (to LAX) at 12:10. Thank you very much for your advice!

Without checked bags and if you check in for your AA flight online before you leave ROC, that's enough time. But with two tickets purchased separately if you have checked bags you will not have enough time to transfer them.

Coming in from YYZ stopping in ORD connection to a Wichita bound flight. 90 min layover. Staying in terminal one all United flight as well. Do we have to claim out luggage and re check or will it be transferred for us

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. One or more of your flights may actually be in Terminal 2, but it is connected to Terminal 1 inside security by a walkway if you need to go between terminals.

I am flying from Lincoln, NE to Munich, Germany with international connection at ORD. my connection time to make my change for the Munich flight is 1 hr. 49 min. Is this possible

Yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • IST-ORD-DEN 1.5 hour connection in ORD

I'm flying on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul, connection time in Chicago is 1.5 hours before United flight to Denver. I won't have checked luggage. Is 1.5 hour enough connection time in Chicago?

Yes, that should barely be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then take the ATS train to Terminal 1 and go through security and to your departure gate.

Thank you. I don't have checked bags, so would 1.5 hours be plenty of time, or does "barely enough time" already assume I have no checked bags?

Yes, having no checked bags makes it a lot easier, there's a special lane for people with no checked bags.

  • 45 min till bording closes

Hi! I'm arriving at 5pm from Aspen (if the plane is exactly on time) and I need to catch a plane that leaves at 6pm to Amsterdam. The bording will start 5.15 and end 5.45 so I have max. 45 min to reach the gate. Is that possible? Do I have to go through security again?

You do not have to go through security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Yes, you have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I have a 65 min. layover in Chicago. Coming from Canada on United to Terminal 1 and leaving from Terminal 3. Since I purchased the ticket altogether I thought the luggage would continue on. Is this the case, because I know if I do have to collect luggage we will never make it.

What airline are you flying out of Terminal 3?
