I will be flying United from Denver to ORD which I believe I will land in Terminal 1 and then have to catch a flight thru ExpressJet DBA United Express which I believe is in Terminal 2. I will only have 45 Minutes to get there. Will that be enough time? Do you think they will hold the plane if they know they have passengers coming? I will be in aisle 27 on the United Flight from Denver so will take me a while to get off plane to catch connecting flight.

They will not hold the plane for you. You have enough time if your flight from Denver is on-time.

When I get off the plane in terminal 1 are the signs marked on how to get to the walkway to get to terminal 2 marked in the corridor?

I'm flying United from Rome straight to ORD. I believe l need to go through customs, pick up my bag, then clear immigration. is there a re-check counter or do I need to go to my domestic terminal to check in

If your bags are tagged through to SFO (which they should if everything is on the same reservation), then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk in T5 right after clearing customs and then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 and go through security.

I'm flying in on a flight from Salt Lake City BA 4816 that will be operated by Republic Airlines As American Eagle. I only have 54 minutes to connect to my flight to Dublin BA 1564 Operated by American Airlines. Will this be enough time?

Change. The flight is now operated by American Airlines SLC to ORD. Then international from ORD to Dublin American Airlines. Do I need to change terminals, go through security again and go through passport control? Can this be done in 54 minutes?

No, you do not have to go through security and there is no passport control when leaving the US. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3. You have enough time.

  • Is 1 1/2 hr enough time between domestic and international flight?

Hi guys I'm a bit worried! I'm coming from SLC to ORD via Delta my arrival time is 12:55. I then have a second international flight from ORD to WAW via United. (Originally I had 5 hours between flights, but United just changed my flight to leave at 2:30) Giving me only an hour and a half! Is that enough time? I absolutely cannot miss my flight. I'm also only 17 traveling solo. These flights were booked totally separate. Please help!

Is your flight to Warsaw nonstop or does it stop somewhere else in Europe first? If it's nonstop then it is operated by LOT and will depart from Terminal 5. Do you have checked bags?

Our flight was changed and we are now scheduled to arrive from DUB (aer lingus) with 1 hr 24 min layover before our domestic flight to PDX (via united). Will we have enough time? Will we have to go through customs in Ohare?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. In Chicago you will arrive in T5 and take the ATS Train to T1 and go through security. You should have just enough time if your flight from Dublin is on-time.

We arrive from Madison on American Airlines at 11 am and connecting flight on Korean Air leaves at 12:35 PM from terminal 5. Originally had longer connection but due to airline change, now an hour and a half. Will that be enough time?

If both tickets are on the same reservation that is barely enough time. If two separate reservations, no, that is not enough time.

I will have 1h 45 min in my connection from Monterrey (mexico) to Hartford in ORD Airport. Will be enough?

I am flying with United Airways in June

Yes, that should be just enough time. you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to your departure terminal (either T1 or T2) and go through security and to your departure gate.

I am flying from Toronto to ORD using United Airways and have a connecting ANA flight to Tokyo (NRT). I only have 1 hour and 45 mins layover. Is that enough time for me to make the flight? And also do I need to claim my bags at ORD and check them in again?

You do not need to do anything with your bags in Chicago on your way to Tokyo. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. ANA departs from Terminal 1 and you will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway.

I am travelling from DFW to SYR with a layover in ORD for 1h 15m. When booking my ticket, there was an advisory warning about a terminal change. Will I have enough time to get to my connecting flight?

All domestic gates at ORD are connected inside security. You have enough time.

My boy and I will fry from Toronto from Air Canada to ORD and connect Asiana flight to Seoul in August. My arrival time in T2 is 9:40 pm and depart in T5 at 11:55 pm. Is it enough time for us to take connected flight? Do I have to claim baggage in T2? I book the air ticket with same reservation?

You will not have to claim your baggage. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is take the ATS Train from T2 to T5 and go through security. You have plenty of time.

Thanks for your quick response. It is wonderful.

  • Enough transfer time?
    Apr 26, 2016

Hi there, I made a booking from IAH to LHR via ORD. Originally I had 5 hrs transfer time between my arrival at Chicago ORD and departure to LHR. Unfortunately the airline has cancelled the flight and booked me on to a later flight, so that I will now have 2 hrs between arrival and departure at ORD. Flights are in min-June. Is 2 hours enough for transfer between arriving at ORD (from IAH) to departure to LHR? The two flights are under American Eagle and American Airlines which I understand operate together? Will I therefore be able to skip checking in my baggage, and or will I need to change terminals and pass thru security again? Any help would be hugely appreciated - I wanted to get a reimbursement for the cancellation which is clearly not happening, and I am worried that 2 hrs won't be enough that I will miss my connecting flight to London (I definitely don't have any money to buy a new flight worth £800!). Thank you!

All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3. You have plenty of time.

Thanks for the comforting and speedy reply, ZAP!

  • 36 min between connection, enough time?

flying AA,(LIT) 5-19th, arrive 6:49am(3334)...connect (0392) to (7:25am)LGA....do I have enough time to make my connection? when departing shuold I ask the desk to call gate to let them know I am on my way? Are the terminals far apart? if yes what tips can you give me

Yes, that is enough time. There is no point in telling them to call the gate, they can't do anything. You will arrive in Terminal B and depart from terminal A or C. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

Sorry, for some reason I thought this connection was at DFW. The connection at ORD is even easier. you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.

Traveling from FWA thru ORD to MCO using United. Don't know gates or terminals, will 45 minutes be enough time?

You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1. They are connected inside security by a walkway. You have enough time as long as your flight from Ft. Wayne is on-time.
