  • 35 minute connection, enough time?

I have just been notified from a third party booking agency that used used that AA has changed our flights for 5-18-15. Now my family & I are traveling from Orange County to Chicago O'Hara to Boston Logan to Dublin Ireland. The flight connection from Chicago to Boston is about 35 minutes. We have never been to either Chicago O'Hara or Boston Logan. Both flights are on AA. Can we & our luggage make it? Or should I have the travel agency come up with other flights? We already have hotel in Dublin booked for the 19th. And no travel insurance. I am in panic mode & close to tears over this, was notified less than an hour ago about change. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is certainly possible to change between two AA flights in Chicago in 35 minutes. All gates are connected inside security and in Terminal 3. Also, if you miss your connection there are several nonstop flights from Chicago to Dublin. If you miss your flight because your flight from Orange County is delayed you could have AA rebook you onto one of those flights.

  • Can I stay in post-security?

Hi! I am flying in to OHare Frontier to T3 and need to meet my friend in T1 a couple hours later. Can I go to baggage claim and get back into secure area of T1? Or if I carryon instead can I walk thru T3 to T1 without exiting secure areas? thanks!

You cannot get back into the secure area of T1 after going to baggage claim. However, you can walk from T3 to T1 inside security if you only bring a carry on.

  • United ExpressJet into T2, then United from T1 - 1 hour

Arriving United ExpressJet from Ottawa into T2 I believe at 07:15, then departing United to Belize from T1 at 08:15. The agents say its doable if we tell the attendants to help move us along. We will be pre-cleared customs in Ottawa. How fast are we going to have to run?

You should have plenty of time. You don't need any attendants' help. There is a walkway between T2 and T1 inside security. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to walk between your gates.

Hi! Im traveling from Cancun to Warsaw with a stop in O'hare. What do I have to do when I arrive there? and is it enough connection time? thanks

Sorry I forgot to write that first flight is american airlines and second is LOT and a two hours layover

I'm assuming you bought two separate tickets? You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then go up to the departure level, check them with LOT, then go through security and to your departure gate. LOT and American do have an interline baggage agreement, you could show your LOT confirmation to the agent in Cancun and ask her to check the bags through to WAW. If she does then you will be able to re-check your bags at the transfer desk right after customs instead of having to bring them upstairs. This will be a difficult, but possible, connection. A bit easier than your connection in JFK since everything at ORD will be in the same terminal.

Thank you very much for the info!

Hi, I will be flying from Detriot to San Francisco with a connecting flight in Chicago. I have about an hour layover. Will I be good on time to find my next flight?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

  • Is 1 hour and 49 minutes enough time?

I have two choices for my flight to Paris next month. I can either depart Des Moines International and arrive at O'Hare with a 1 hour layover, or depart Cedar Rapids with a 1 hour and 50 minute layover for the connecting flight to Paris. First time flying so I am not sure if 1 hour would be enough time for clearing customs. I plan only to bring carry-on, so no baggage checking. What would I have to do/where would I go when arriving at O'Hare, and would the Des Moines flight be doable? Both flights are by US Airways, operated by American Airlines/American Eagle. My dates are flexible, so I plan to fly out on a Tuesday or Wednesday, so I am thinking it may not be as busy. Thanks!

You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in O'Hare is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be in Terminal 3. 1 hour is doable, but 1 hr 50 mins obviously leaves a lot more room to spare in case your first flight is delayed.

Hi, I am flying from Kalamazoo to Boston with a layover at O'Hare. I am flying in on American and then my connecting flight is Envoy Air by American Eagle. My layover is only 45 minutes, should I be worried about this not being enough time?

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate in concourse G to your departure gate in concourse H or K of Terminal 3.

    Youll be fine

Hi. I'm traveling from Denver on AA1149 arriving at 5:20 pm and only have 40 minutes before leaving for London on AA46 at 6:00 pm. I assume baggage are checked all the way through. Do I have enough time to make my connection at ORD?

Yes, barely, you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the H/K concourse of Terminal 3. If you miss your connection there are later AA and BA flights to London.

Hi, I will fly from Sacramento CA to Chicago airport to meet with my friend who flies from Hong Kong. After I claim the baggages, could I take ATS from terminal 1~3 to arrival terminal 5? Do I need go through security check again?

Yes, you could take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and meet him on the lower level of Terminal 5 at the exit of customs.

  • Connection time Toronto - Anchorage

Travelling on United 8361 operated by Air Canada Express - Sky Regional (originating London Ontario) via Toronto arriving ORD @ 12.45 pm and connecting to United 1122 to Anchorage @ 3.50 pm. Any problems with that connection time?

That is over 3 hours. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate in Terminal 2 to your departure gate in Terminal 1. There is a walkway connecting the two terminals inside security. That is plenty of time.

Hi. I'm traveling from Denver on UA, arriving 11:26 a.m. at Terminal 1. I have separate ticket for Aer Lingus to Dublin leaving 3:50 pm from Terminal 5. I have to check in at Aer Lingus because they won't let me check in online because I used UA award miles. Can I get from T1 to T5, check in to Aer Lingus, get through security and to gate in time for 3:50 pm departure? Tips to make it work best are appreciated

Yes, that should be enough time. Just follow signs to the ATS Train to T5.

All you have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Nov 7 flight with 39 min connection in ORD on Iberia. Flight leaves at 1655 terminal 3. worried about making connections. Should I?

It's possible, but it leaves no time to spare if your ATL flight is delayed.

My buddy(who is a marine) is coming home after spending time in Japan has a 4 hour layover between his flight from Japan->Ohare and Ohare-> Dallas-Forth Worth. Is there some sort of special procedure I have to do to gain access to the terminal area so I could see him?

After he clears customs he will be outside security. You can meet him on the lower level of Terminal 5 at the exit of Customs.

  • brief connection

On april 24 I will arrive at ORD Terminal 3 at 4.01 pm with flight BA 5308 from Rochester MN, then at 4.40 pm I will depart from Terminal 3 to London Heathrow (flight BA 1543). Is the connection time (39 minutes) enough ?

If the first flight will be delayed, does the company cover the cost for staying in Chicago one night if not able to find another flight in the same day ?

It depends on the reason for the delay. Usually they do not. However, they will probably be able to get you to Europe that evening (probably with a connection in Frankfurt).

Sorry, for some reason thought you were on United. There are multiple later flights to London on both British Airways and American that you can be rebooked on, you should be fine getting rebooked if you miss your connection.

We arrive at ORD on AA#1444 at 4:08 pm from PHX and depart on AA#110 to Rome at 4:45 pm. Is that enough time? Thank you

Yes, that is enough time if your first flight is on-time - all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3. However, there is no room to spare if your flight from Phoenix is delayed at all.
