Can I get from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 without going through Security? My layover is just under 2 hours so I don't have a lot time.

Yes there is a walkway inside security

I have a flight arriving from NRT on ANA at 1:50 PM in terminal 5 and another connecting flight on AA in terminal 3 at 3:55 PM where I have to check in, get tickets and check in luggage (I will be flying in First both legs so my luggage should be out by the time I clear immigration) Do I have enough time?

My flight from ORD is domestic btw

Yes, that should be enough time. You can save a little time by checking in for your AA flight online before you leave Japan.

I am flying from Vail to Chicago on AA arriving 5:55pm, with a 2hr stop before departing to Dubai on Emirates. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time but doesn't leave much to spare. You will have to take the ATS train from T3 to T5 , get your Emirates boarding pass, and go through security.

Flight from Boston to Beijing of China, connecting in Chicago. Both flights are United, who leaves me 1 hour for connection. Would the connect time be sufficient? Do I have to go through Custom in Chicago or in Boston? And how about the luggage, does it have to be rechecked in Chicago? Thanks a lot!

You do not have to go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in Terminal 1. You don't have to do anything with your baggage. You have enough time.

I see. And thanks a lot for your quick response!

Hi, I will be flying from Toronto to Korea, connecting in Chicago (ORD) then in Toyko (NRT). I will be taking United airline (but different aircrafts) all throughout the flight so I can safely assume that I won't need to recheck my luggage in each of the connecting city. 1) Do I need to go through customs at ORD? 2) I have a layover time of 1 hour. will i have enough time to catch the next UA aircraft? 3) Do I need to get a boarding pass at ORD and NRT (I ordered the ticket from the unitedairline website)? 4) Which terminals do I need to go through at ORD? 5) Do you know if I just need to go through the security check at NRT?

You will ore-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, all you have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. United should issue all your boarding passes for your entire trip in Toronto. You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Terminal 1. 1 and 2 are connected by a walkway inside security. You will not have to go through security in ORD.

Flight from Austin to Hong Kong is connecting through ORD. Some of the layovers seem a little short; what is the minimum time we need? Group of 5, 4 US and one Chinese.

If both flights are on United, 45 minutes, if flying in on American and out on Cathay Pacific, I would want at least an hour because you'll have to change terminals.

Hi, I am planning to make a trip to San Francisco, but this is my first trip with a flight connection. I am flying with United from Brussels to Chicago (ORD) and then from Chicago (ORD) to San Francisco (SFO). I only have approximately 2 hours to get to my next flight. What is the procedure for a connecting flight in Chicago? Do I have to claim my baggage and then recheck-in? I also read that I'll arrive a terminal 5 and I'll depart at terminal 1. Thank you for reading this!

At ORD you arrive at Terminal 5 (T5) where you need to go through passport check, pick up bags, go through customs & re-check-in bags where indicated (bags will then be transferred to T1 flight) - thereafter, proceed one level up to the ATS transit level & take the ATS train, running every few mins, to T1, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. T1 has Concourses B & C (with B & C gates) - both used by United.

i will have an american airlines flight coming in from orlando and have to change to an american airlines flight heading for london heathrow, time for changing is only 65 minutes. is that doable? best regards woledi

American uses Terminal 3 (T3) with Concourses/ gates G, H, K & L; as well as and T5 with Concourse/gates M (tickets could read T3-G, T5-M). While the ATS train runs between all terminal at their pre-security areas (requiring security check at connecting terminal), you may walk between the concourses of Terminal 3. Either way you have enough time for transfer.

Ignore sunov. Both of your flights will be in Terminal 3. You only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you have enough time.

I'm flying from Berlin to ORD on Airberlin. How much time will I need to get to an AA flight to DFW? I am a US citizen with Global entry and TSA precheck. I did not purchase my tickets together but did get them thru AA.

90 minutes bare minimum, 2 hours to be safe.

I am flying from Madrid to Chicago and then getting a connecting to flight to Minneapolis. I only have 1 hour and 15 minutes to get my bags, go through customs, recheck my bags, and get to my new flight in terminal 3. Is that enough time?

It's below the minimum connection time by 15 minutes, you'll have to hurry.

Flying from LGA to BER, layover in ORD (AA to Air Berlin). Is 1.5 hour enough to make the connection? Do I recheck baggage in ORD? Thanks!

If you bought your tickets together you don't have to do anything with your bags. Just walk between your gates. You have plenty of time.

I will be arriving into ORD T5 from NRT at 2:30PM and departing from ORD T1 to CLT 4:15PM. Is 1 hour and 45 minutes enough time to make it to my connecting flight? I am travelling during the holiday season and am anxious about missing my flight. My tickets are all booked through United. Thank you

    Edit: Travelling on December 22

Just checked my flight has been changed so I now have 1 hour 31 minutes of connecting time

Yes that is enough time but doesn't leave much to spare.

Hi, I will take a flight from denver and arrive at O'hare at around 11:22 on Dec.6th. Then I will take another flight at 14:25 to China. The two tickets are booked separately.... I am afraid the snow will delay the flight.. Will the time be sufficient? Thanks!

Snow on December 6 is unlikely. You should have plenty of time.

Thank you very much for your response. I guess I need to pick up baggage, go through the security check ,then transfer to another terminal. In this case, would 3 hours be enough? Thanks~

  • HYD-ORD and ORD-SFO on separate airlines

Hello, I am flying into ORD from HYD at 3pm and then taking another flight to SFO. Both these travels are booked on separate tickets and airlines. I wanted to know how to transfer my 2 large bags from terminal 5 to 1. Do I have to take them through the ATS or is there a way to check in before I take the ATS? I am travelling in February and I am worried about the snow.
