Hi ,I am travelling to Chennal (MAA)via Minneapolis-ORD-DOha.I am traveleing to Chicago by Americal Eagle and arive @ terminal 3.I have my international flight @qatar in terminal 3 and i have 90 mins . Do i need to go through security again between domestic and international flights in same terminal. Is 90 mins sufficient. Also ,Do i have to transfer the baggage in Chicago ?I have booked all tickets together .thanks

No, you will not have to go through any security and your bags will be checked through to Chennai in Minneapolis. 90 minutes is a ton of time.

I have 35 minutes to get off an american eagle flight and get to my connection to OK/city on American. they are both in terminal 3 ..is this enough time?

Yes, if your first flight is on-time you'll be OK, however you'll have to hurry. All gates in T3 at ORD are connected beyond security.

  • 50 min.connection time at ORD enough?

I( Canadian citizen) wonder whether 50 min connection time is enough at ORD. I arrive from TORONTO in AA and depart in AA to Dusseldorf, Germany. What about security clearance at Chicago?

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto. So all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be in Terminal 3 and connected beyond security.

Hi, I will be flying on CX from HKG landing at ORD at 13:50. I then plan to transfer to AA2772 to YUL departing 15:45. Is this sufficient time? Will I need to collect my bags upon arrival at terminal 5 or can they be checked through? Thanks for your help!

Yes you have enough time for transfer: 1. Cathay & AA belong to the Oneworld Alliance - therefore your bags will automatically be transferred; 2. On arrival at Terminal 5, you will have go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. (AA uses both Terminals 3 & 5 - If your connecting flight is at T5 - your gate number will start with an M, while T3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates.

Your departure will be from Terminal 3, not Terminal 5. No American flights depart from Terminal 5. Otherwise sanov's recommendations are correct.

  • 40 minutes connection from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2

I have a domestic flight transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. And the connection time is only 40 minutes. Will I be able to make it? How far is it? Thank you!

It only takes at most 15-20 minutes to walk between T1 and T2, usually less. They are connected beyond security.

Arriving from Copenhagen on SAS Jan 1 with 1 hour 37 mins to connect with United flight to Tampa. Will I have sufficient time to make connection? Thanks

That will be very difficult. You will arrive in T5 where you will clear immigration, claim your bags, clear customs, and re-check your bags at the re-check desk. Then take the ATS train to T1 where you will go through security. Your flight to Tampa will depart from concourse B or C of T1. Jan 1 is a bit of a heavy travel day in the US with many people returning home from holiday vacations, although it should not be too crowded in immigration, the lines for security in T1 may be long. You should be OK if your first flight is on-time, but barely.

Many thanks. I have scheduled another date with better connecting flights.

I will be flying with Iberia to Chicago ORD and 1hour 15 minutes later I have a flight to New Orleans with United Airlines. Do I have time enough?

It will be very difficult, especially if your two tickets were bought on separate reservations. If that's the case and you have checked baggage it'll be virtually impossible because you'll have to take it to T1 to re-check yourself.

  • Moving checked Baggage from Terminal 2 or 3 to Terminal 5

I have to fly from ORD to DEL (India) by Air India on a ticket purchased for ORD-DEL. I am reaching ORD by United from LAX using a ticket purchased separately. My question is whether I shall be able to check my baggage thro LAX-ORD- DEL at LAX ? In case I have to collect my Checked at ORD Terminal 2 or 3, is it possible to re check my baggage with Air India at terminal 2 or 3 or should I have to transport my Baggage to be checked to terminal 5 ? What are the facilities to move checked baggage between terminals ?

If you are flying United into ORD, you will claim your baggage in Terminal 1. Since you bought your tickets on separate reservations you will have to transfer the bags between airlines yourself. You will have to take your baggage with you on the ATS train to Terminal 5 in order to check it with Air India.

I have booked a ticket together SUX to ORD using AA and ORD to DEL - BLR using Air Inida. DO I have to take the bags out and recheck in ORD?

We will be flying Munich to ORD to TUL. We arrive in Chicago about 6:30pm and only have 1h 45 min til the next flight. Flying in on Lufthansa and continuing on United, though it was all booked via United. We will have been on a farm in the UK and need to go through the Ag line. Is this enough time?

Can't advise you as to Ag procedure at ORD. However, the international arrivals procedure includes going through passport check, retrieving checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-checking-in bags where indicated; thereafter proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Note that United uses both Terminals 1 (B & C gates) and T2 (E & F gates). Your transfer time should suffice.

That will be a very tight connection.

  • 1 hour connection time

Hello. I am in the process of booking a flight with connections in ORD. First trip is all United from Calgary (YYC) to Manchester (MHT) with 1hr1min connection in ORD. Return is US Airways from Philadelphia connecting with Westjet to Calgary (1hr 8 min). Is this doable? My other option is to spend 3+ hrs in ORD on the return and just 56 minutes connecting in Philly (both US Airways flights). I am travelling out on Oct 17 and returning on the 20th. Thanks in advance.

A 1 hour connection on United is doable in ORD. You will preclear US immigration in Calgary.

I will be arriving nov 6 from Amsterdam on flight UA908 and need to connect with flight UA510 to Halifax. Can you please tell me the procedure I should follow and what terminals and gates I may be using to help me from getting lost? Thanks

You will arrive in Terminal 5 and clear immigration, claim your bags, go through customs, and re-check your bags all there. You will then have to take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 depending on where your Halifax flight will be departing. You probably mean your on Flight 5210 - it could leave from either terminal.

    thanks!

Hi, I am traveling to Dallas from Chicago. I land from the UK at terminal 5 and I only have 1 hour 40 mins to change terminal. Both flights are with AA so will I need to collect lugage? Also will I have enough time to get through passport control and to the next terminal. Very stressed about this. Any help would be appreciated please.

No need to be stressed at this time of the year: You land at the International Terminal 5 (T5) where you will need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag where indicated; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal T3, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Look at overhead screens to find your flight and gate number. T3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates: Concourse G has gates G1A-G21, (gates G13-G17 are on lower level); Concourse H has gates H1-H18; Concourse K has gates K1-K20; and Concourse L has gates L1-L10 (including gate L2A/B) .

  • What is the quickest and easiest way to go between terminals?
    Oct 12, 2013

My elderly parents are flying SAS airlines from Copenhagen to Chicago 1st of Nov, flight number SK0943, then have to catch the AA flight to Dallas, flight number AA2357. Their arrival is at 9:05 PM, departure 11:20 PM. The transfer time is short and they are very concerned if they can make it. Which terminal they will have to got to and what is the quickest way to travel between the terminals? Are there any tips they should know to make the transfer quicker and easier?

Your parents would arrive at Terminal 5, where would need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag*; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to their connecting terminal, where they will need to go through security check before proceeding to their connecting gate. *However, as SAS & AA do not belong to the same Airline Alliance, they need to contact SAS as to whether SAS will transfer their bags - if not - they would have to take their bags after customs clearance and re-check them in at Terminal 3's AA check-in counter. They have plenty of time for transfer. Terminal 3 has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates (i.e., gate G13).

I'm so sorry, wrote the wrong time: they arrive to ORD from CPH at 7:10 PM, leave from ORD to DFW at 9:05 PM. It's 1hr 55 min, is that enough to get through immigration and then reach another terminal? Thank you for the answer!

To expedite their transfer consider reserving wheelchair or golf-cart shuttle service 1494for them. This will move them more quickly and offer assistance with the baggage. An added advantage is that they may be dropped off at the front of the line and allowed to bypass that wait. Call SAS directly to make the arrangements.

I do not know why those numbers (1494) are appearing in my post. j did not type them and they have nothing to do with my message.

  • Connecting aa flights

Hi we are flying from London heathrow on 18/10/13 and have a 3 hr stop over and connection in Chicago we arrive terminal 5 and depart terminal 1 for Orlando will we need to go to baggage reclaim or will the luggage go straight to connecting flight apologies as I have not used connecting flights before

I also meant to say both flights are with AA

Any time you enter the US from abroad you have to claim your baggage and go through customs at your initial entry point.

I plan to travel in November, my qatar airways flight will be coming from Dubai to Chicago and then to Denver through Qatar airways . Layover will be 3hrs. I need info on how the process is after I exit the plane in Chicago. do I have to g through baggage claim here, since the flight to Denver is through Qatar airways? and how far is the baggage claim from the immigration?

Qatar Airways does not fly Dubai-Chicago. It flies Doha-Chicago. Also, Qatar Airways does not fly to Denver. Your Chicago-Denver flight will likely be operated by American Airlines. In Chicago, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through immigration, claim your bags, go through customs, then re-check your bags, then you will have to go upstairs and take the ATS train from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3, there you will get your American boarding pass if you don't already have it, then go through security and to your gate. You will need at least 2 hours to do this, possibly more. Your arrival in Denver will be like a normal domestic flight, you will just collect your bags there.
