  • 1 hour 15 min time is sufficient

Iam traveling from kansas on us airways to chicago which will arrive on terminal 3 and again I have to take the connecting flight that is qatar airways to doha at terminal 3 but the lay over is 1 hour 15 min is that sufficient for me How I have to go??? And what about my baggage do I need to transfer my baggage myself to qatar airways???

Please note that your first flight will be operated by American or American Eagle, not US Airways. That should be a very sufficient layover time. As long as both tickets were bought together your baggage will be transferred and you will just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be connected inside security in T3.

Thanks a lot for ur response Ya our first flight operated by American Airlines and we have bought tha tickets together So our baggage will be transferred by them nly a kk thank you Our depart time in kansas is 5:50 pm and we reach by 7:30 pm and our layover is 1 hr 15 min So how much will be taken for security check after we arrived??? Should we have to take anyATS train to reach qatar airways departure terminal to doha in chicago??? And one more thing will us airways operated by American Airlines will charge for baggage We are traveling in economy class

All of your flights will be in Terminal 3. You will not have to take the ATS Train or go through security. If you are on an international itinerary, American should not charge you to check your baggage in Kansas.

Thanks a lot for ur valuable information

Zap, My flight schedule is similar to the above. Qatar Airways: Nashville to Chicago to Doha to Bangalore. The layover time for me at Chicago for the next connecting flight to Doha is just 1 Hour 30 Minutes and I will be very much in Terminal 3 then. Would 1 Hour 30 Minutes.be sufficient to: A) Reach the Departure Gate (Chicago to Doha) within Terminal 3 B) Complete the Security Check Process

ZAP ,from Hyderabad to doha to chicago , in qatar airways and from chicago to kansas American Airlines ,so I have booked the tickets together so I have to collect the baggage and I will have to go through security check and I will arrive at terminal 5 in chicago and I have to departure at terminal 3 to kansas so I have nly 2 hr 20 min time is that sufficient for me Plz give rpl and help me iam little bit nervous abt that

  • will I make it?

I'm a visitor arriving from France with AA at 14:35 with 3 family members. Will I be able to catch the next domestic AA connection within just 1:40 ? Or should I book the next flight after about 7 hours?

The 1:40 connection is makeable but doesn't leave much room for delays.

Your transfer time does not allow flight delay for incoming AA flight. You will arrive at Terminal 5 (T5) and need to depart from T3. International arrivals need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. T3 has Concourse/ gates L to the left, the Y-shaped gateway to Concourses /gates K & H in the center and to the Rotunda (leading to T2) and Concourse G to the left. Check overhead screens on arrival for your flight & gate number.

  • Intl to domestic transfer for unaccompanied minor

my child will be arriving on air france in the afternoon. he will then need to transfer to another airline for a domestic flight on american airlines. i need to buy the AA ticket. how much time should i leave for transfer? and how does it work, transferring from one unaccompanied minor program to another?

Transferring from one UM program to another is rare and I'm not sure there ARE any procedures for it. How old is the child. He or she may have to not travel as a UM for their American flight as there will be no guardian to check them in. If it is workable, I would leave at LEAST 3 hours for the transfer.

  • Construction in terminal 5??
    Mar 17, 2014

Last summer we barely made our international flight due to long, long lines getting into terminal 5. What is the status of the fix-up there? I'm leaning toward flying through Pilly instead of ORD this summer...

Interior renovations to add more concessions continue. That's the only T5 construction I'm aware of.

We flew to Dublin in July '13 and getting through security was insane. We were funneled through what seemed to be a temporary set up to reach the initial ID check, then into a huge mess to get screened. We had a 2+ hr layover, and the AerLingus staff came searching for us in the security line.

  • Will I make it on time and where do I get my boarding pass?
    Mar 18, 2014

I arrive at terminal 5 of O'Hare international by Qatar airways from Kolkata via Doha. Arrival time 14.30hours.My flight to Nashville is from terminal 3 after 2 hours 25 minutes. It is a AA codeshare flight and the ticket was together from Kolkata. .I have 2 pieces of checked in baggage. Will I make it on time? What are the steps I should follow? Where will I get my boarding pass for Nashville. Please help. Also how far are the immigration counters from the alighting point?

    1. AT ORD, all domestic flights and international departures of American Airlines are in Terminal 3, which has Concourses & gates G, H, K & L (with gates G13-17 are on lower level). 2. On arrival at ORD, you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance, re-check-in bag; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to Terminal 3, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Your bags will be automatically transferred. 3. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ord, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

thanks a ton sumar14. But where will I get Nashville boarding pass and also will I be able to make it comfortably in 2 hours 25 minutes?

Since Qatar Airways and American codeshare Qatar Airways should be able to print your American boarding pass in Kolkata. However, if they can't you can get it in the lobby of T3 since you will be passing through there anyway.

    Thanks a ton again!!

  • Connecting flight from LAX to ORD then to YUL

when can I know which gates I will be getting out of at ORD and which do I need to go to for my second flight? I will be travelling with young children, I dont have a very good sense of direction when it comes to airports and I will be having 1hr30 waiting time in-betwen flights. I want to make sure I dont miss the second flight.

You won't know your exact gates until the day of your flight. 1.5 hours is a ton of time. What airlines are you flying?

thanks for your answer, im flying with American Airlines.

All your flights will be in Terminal 3 and connected inside security. You will have plenty of time.

  • Qatar boarding pass in terminal 3?
    Mar 14, 2014

I arrive from Columbus to ORD into Terminal 3 by American Eagle and connect on Qatar airways departing to Doha also from Terminal 3. But i wonder if I can get the boarding pass for the Qatar airways leg at Terminal 3 and if there is a Qatar ticketing counter in Terminal 3 available?

Yes, there is a Qatar Airways ticket counter in Terminal 3. If you bought your tickets together the AA desk in Columbus may even be able to print you your Qatar boarding pass for you.

Decent selection of good wine and food quality I expected. The food is just ok, but exceptionally better than a packaged sandwich.

  • Connection London - Chicago - Manhattan
    Mar 11, 2014
    3
I will be arriving at Chicago on US047 from London at Terminal 5 at 17:10, and leaving for Manhattan, KS at 19:10 on US 3606 from Terminal 3. That's two hours, which I assume will be enough (I'm on a UK passport), but I'd like to be aware of what to do so that I don't waste any time. Could you tell me step-by-step what to do at O'Hare in between getting off the one plane and getting on the other? It'd be hugely appreciated as I am slightly nervous, having not flown to the States before. Will I have to reclaim my bag and check it back in?

Please note that both of your flights will be operated by American/American Eagle. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with American (they should already be tagged through to MHK so you just have to drop them off). Then you will go up several levels in the terminal to the ATS train and take it to Terminal 3 (1 stop), then you will take the pedestrian bridge across the street and go through security in Terminal 3 and to your gate (which will likely be on Concourse G.

Excellent reply, thank you! I take it two hours will suffice for this?

Yes, that should be enough time.

I am flying from Doha (Qatar Airway QR 0721) to Terminal 5 then I have a connection to Raleigh through Terminal 3. This is my first time flying. I have two checked luggages. so would you please tell me the steps I will go through and required time to change terminals including customs & immigration ? I have five hours lay over time.

On arrival at ORD you need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to T3, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. NOTE: If you purchased separate tickets & your connecting flight is not with Qatar, you need to pick up your bag after customs clearance & re-check it in with the connecting airline. To familiarize yourself with the terminal layout, etc. open open www.ifly.com/ord, then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

    Thank you soooooo much :)

Flying from Salt Lake City to Toronto Canada with plane change in Chicago ORD. Is an hour enough for plane change (do I switch terminals or go through security again) and will my bag get checked straight through? (I'm on the same airline for both legs.) Thanks!

Yes your bag will be checked through and all your gates will be connected inside security so you should have enough time.

    Great...thanks!

'm a U.S. citizen flying from Toronto to O'Hare on to San Fran then Honolulu. I have 1.38 hours in Chicago. Will I make it. United booked this for me but it sounds tight. On United all flights. Thur. 1:35p arrival.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto so all you will have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which are all connected inside security.

Thank you. One more question. I'll have checked bags. Will I have to recheck? Or do they get sent straight through? Much appreciated!

You won't have to claim your bags in Chicago

Thank you. You have been a great help!

    All went well. Thanks again.

Arriving at 1315 on UA929 from LHR into T5 then need to get to T1 for the 1455 UA3390 flight to STL. Purchased as one ticket. We will have checked baggage. Will 1.40hr be enough?

Yes, that should be enough time. After you clear customs you can re-check your baggage with United. Then you will take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or 2 (3390 could leave from either, so check the monitors before you depart) and go through security.

Many thanks for your speedy reply, much appreciated.

  • Do I have enough time between flights
    Feb 23, 2014

I'm scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 9:16am on UA3620 on May 25, 2014, and depart on an ANA flight NH011 at 10:50am. I believe the UA flight arrives at Terminal 2 and the ANA flight departs from Terminal 1. Is it possible to transit between terminals 1 and 2 without going through security again? If so, where is the connection between terminals?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Terminal 2 and 1 are connected beyond security by a walkway that connects to T2 at the base of the concourse and to T1 near B3. There are plenty of signs.

Thanks. Through another source I see there are two options, depending on which concourse my departing flight is leaving from. It seems there's a free shuttle to one concourse and the walkway you describe leads to the other.

I wouldn't take the shuttle - it runs very infrequently and is slow. Also, the ANA flights always leave from Concourse B (the high-numbered end - B15 or B16)

Thank you very much for your advice. It looks like I'll head straight for the walkway.

I was just at o'hare yesterday and it appears ANA is using C10 as well.
