  • Canada to Us to Mex

Travelling from Ottawa Canada,to Pv Mex, via Chicago and returning Mex to Ottawa via Chicago. Departing Canada I believe I clear Us customs in Ottawa, so bags will be checked all the way to Mex ? Returning I land at Term 5, with 2hr layover, do I claim bags here, and go through customs, then on to Term 2 for last leg to Ottawa Canada....is this enough time to make connection?

Yes, you have the procedure correct on the way to Mexico. Yes, on the way back you will have to claim your bags in immigration in T5, then re-check them after customs, then take the ATS train to T2. That should be enough time, but barely. Also, some United Express flights from ORD to YOW leave from T1, not T2, so be sure to check the monitors before you get on the ATS.

Will reach from Cincinnati by united airlines. Need to go to terminal 5 to travel by Quatar Airways. Do I need to move with luggage ? How much time will be required for the transfer

You could actually arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 from Cincinnati, but regardless of where you arrive you will take the ATS train to Terminal 5. If your bags aren't check through to Qatar Airways you will have to claim your baggage in T1 and take it with you. If you have to claim your baggage and re-check in T5, I would budget at least 2 hours, and even that would leave no room for delays.

  • t5 duty free shop but my flight is in t3

Hi..I will fly from Cincinnati to Beijing, Ohare is my transfer station. I am taking aa5019 to Ohare and aa187 to Beijing. I notice that aa5019 stops at t3 and so does aa187. But I wanna get something in the duty free shop at t5. What should I do? Do I need security check when I go to T5 from T3 with some stuff bought from DF shop? Thanks very much.

There is a small Duty Free near the international departure gates in T3. http://www.dutyfreeexpress.com/storeLocator_POST.cfm?storeID=5

  • Enough time for connection and grab food?

We arrive a UA fight from SF. We then have 45 minutes to make our connection on a UA Express flight to Roanoke VA. Is there enough time to grab food to go and make it for the flight? Do you know which terminals we will be in? Traveling with 2 kids who will need to eat on the connecting flight. OH and if you have any restaurant recos that would be awesome. Thanks!!

United's domestic flights are in both Terminals 1 & 2, United Express is in Terminal 2 - a post-security walkway connects both. As to food: You have the choice of either (a) food delivery to your gate: Apple App Store & Android Market make the B4 YOU BOARD available, where you can order from participating HMSHost restaurants free food delivery; or (b) open www.ifly.com/ord and click on 'Airport Information' /'Restaurants', then choose Terminals 1 or 2 at top. As you need to be at the gate area at least 15 minutes prior to departure time, going to a restaurant is probably not a good idea.

There's a McDonald's in Terminal 2, where your Roanoke flight will probably depart. You can grab food from there really quickly probably. You can also get some sandwiches and pack them and eat them on the plane from San Francisco.

thanks so much! i'm curious to try the app.

    mcd's s is our fall back :-)

My daughter is arriving at Terminal 5 and will have two hours to get luggage and take to United in Terminal 1 or 2. How is the best way to do this and will she be OK time-wise?

If she has to re-check luggage with United (that hasn't been checked through to her destination at her international origin) she has to do that in T1. The only way to get from T5 to T1 is via the ATS train. It takes about 15-20 minutes. She will probably be OK if her first flight is on-time. If her bags are checked through to her destination, she can re-check them after customs in T5 and then take the ATS to T1 or T2, wherever her flight departs. If you post more info on her flights I can help you more.

  • Terminal 2 to terminal 5 how to dó that

Hello, I have to go from terminal 2 to terminal 5 i come from salt Lake City and go to Denmark, I have 2 hour, how dó I come from 2 till 5??

No flights from Salt Lake City arrive in Terminal 2. What airlines are you flying?

    Flight ua 6227 tomorrow

Sorry, had wrong airport. When you arrive in Terminal 2 at O'Hare, you take the ATS train to get to Terminal 5. It should take about 20 minutes from your gate until security in Terminal 5.

  • Connection T5-T3 doable in 90 mins
    Jul 19, 2013

Hello - I really would appreciate your kind help - I am arriving on AA0091 from London LHR to T5 at 8.05pm and have 90 mins to reach T3 to depart with AA 2359 to Dallas DFW at 9.40pm. Will I have to go through pass control, customs and check my luggage out/in? If this is the case I won't have sufficient time I believe? However a colleauge told me guest traveling on AA flights or code sharing AA/BA flights have now new option, there is a bus connecting T5/T3 so that they do not need to leave security area? Please would you advise what shall I expect? I am truly worried.

Yes, you will have to do all of those things. Any time you enter the US you have to go back through security. The bus can only be used when you are flying into T3 and out of T5. You will have to go through immigration/customs/re-check and then take the ATS train to T3. Immigration shouldn't be that bad that late at night and American does have one later flight to DFW if you miss your connection.

Thank you for passing the information. I wish I could change the booking. Too late. So not even my luggage would be checked through? Are you sure there is one more flight, hence I cannot find it. Thank you again.

Hi I am traveling from mumbai ,India to phonix on ehiad airlines. Mumbai -abudhabi-Chicago-phonix my port of entry is Chicago. And destination is phonix. My immigration check and custom clearance will be done at Chicago or phonix. Thanks

It will be done in Chicago. You will clear customs, re-check your bags if your bags are checked through to Phoenix, then take the ATS train from T5 to T3 if your flight to Phoenix is on American, T2 if it is on US Airways, or T1 if it is on United.

    Thanks

Is 4 hours between two flight is safe?

  • Time enough, pls. help....

Would it be enough time to get my flight, 2:40PM from Terminal 5, if I arrive at Union Station with Amtrak at 11:45AM. Thanks for help

Yeah, I think so. It's about an hour from Union Station to the Clinton Blue Line stop to O'Hare. Then maybe 10-15 minutes to get to the ATS in T2 and take it to T5. So you'd get to the counter around 1-1:15 PM I think.

  • 45 Minute connecting flight

First time flyer... I'm flying United from Harrisburg at 7:52AM on a Sunday and will be arriving in Chicago at 8:45AM ..... The connecting flight is also United and is scheduled to depart at 9:30AM, will I have enough time?

Not sure if this matters but both flights are UA but my connecting flight says "Operated by Skywest Airlines dba United Express" And I'm flying from Chicago to Des Moines.

Yes, that should be enough time. Your first flight will arrive in Terminal 1 concourse B or C. Your second flight will likely depart from Terminal 2 concourse E or F. You do not have to go through security when going between those two terminals if you follow the signs.

  • Worried about my connection time!

So I booked a flight going from Richmond, VA - layover in Chicago - then to Grand Rapids, MI at the end of August. Both of my flights are American Airlines and so I know they will both be in Terminal 3. My layover time is 30 minutes. I'm scheduled to land in ORD at 7:10, and my next flight is scheduled to take off at 7:40. Will that be enough time??? I know since it's in the same terminal it wont be completely on the other side of the airport, but I'm afraid of having to go through security again, or needing to go up or down stairs.. or anything that would take up time instead of being able to just get out the first gate and run right over to the next one. I've never flown by myself before, and it's been over 10 years since I've flown at all, so I'm nervous, and I just want to know if I should be able to make my next flight okay. Thank you!! :)

You won't have to go through security again and both of your flights will probably be in the G concourse.

So it should be a relatively easy layover then? I've been looking at the same flight numbers this week and they've all been running perfectly on time, in fact the first flight landing in ORD has been early almost every time too. I'm just nervous so I'm asking for outside opinions. :/ lol

Yes, it should be pretty easy. I'm guessing your arrival is at 7:10 AM, not PM if the on-time stats have been so good? If so even if you miss you'll have plenty of opportunities to be re-booked on a later flight to GRR if you miss your connection and yes, early morning flights tend to run on-time more often.

Yes, I apologize for not specifying in the beginning, it's all in the AM because I'm meeting my boyfriend and his family up there for a vacation and want to get there as early as possible and spend the whole day there instead of flying in later on. Thank you for your help!

  • security between T1 and T2?
    Jul 6, 2013
    1
I'm finding conflicting info on whether or not I will need to go through security (on United connecting flights) between T1 and T2. As it will be the Christmas rush, I'm wanting to be sure 45 minutes will be enough time. Thanks for any advice as I haven't flown through ORD before.

You can easily walk between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 without going through security - just follow the signs in T1 pointing to the E and F gates. 45 minutes should be OK if your first flight is on-time.

  • LAS - ORD - LHR (Friday 4th October - arriving at ORD 4.40pm)
    Jul 6, 2013

I will be arriving at ORD from Las Vegas on the 4th at 4.40pm, the connecting flight to London leaves at 6.30pm, will this give me enough time? Any help and tips will be greatly appreciated.

Meant to add, flying United Airlines on all legs

Yes, that's plenty of time. Both of your flights will be in Terminal 1 and you don't have to go through any security or immigration in Chicago. If you need to go between concourses B and C, there's a tunnel that connects them.

  • 40 min connection domestic to international?
    Jul 2, 2013
    1
Will 40 mins be enough time to change from domestic AA flight arriving 21:05 to an international AA flight?

if your first flight is on-time, yes, you can walk between all AA gates at ORD in under 20 minutes.

  • 2 hours transfer time for international arrival, is it possible?
    Jul 5, 2013
    3
I will arrive in T5 at 4:25pm and departure at 6:23pm in T1. The transfer time is 2 hours. Will I be in time for my connection with all the immigration and re- checking in of the luggage??? Both the flights are with United.

It will be tight. That's a peak time for arrivals in T5. No way to say for sure, but it's not impossible.

    Thanks a lots. Any advice?

Not much you can do other than try to sit at the front of your arriving flight and the security line on the extreme left of Terminal 1 is usually the fastest.
