  • Connection time T1 to T2

Although a "legal" connection, is 43 min. adequate time to connect T1-T2?

Yes, you can easily walk between anywhere in T1 and T2 within 15-20 minutes. However, it doesn't leave much margin for error in case of delays.

Are the less than 5 mins wait times accurate for post-TSA cuts?

Those things aren't updated very regularly - it really depends on what terminal and what time of day.

Just an update, I was at ORD on Friday and things seemed perfectly normal.

we fly in on AA from st Louis to T3 gate H9 and must make way to T1 concourse B gate B6 for flight to Tampa. we have 50 mins between flights.

You can walk from T3 to T1 without having to go through security again. If your first flight is on time and you don't have any bags or you check your bags through to TPA you can make it. That's a really weird connection - (AA to UA).

  • Enough Time?

Question - Is 1 hr 20 min enough time to make a connecting flight from AA 550 (from LA ) to AA 4282 (to Kitchener, Canada)? Do I need to pick up my checked bag and recheck? Do I need to go through security again? Thanks!

On the way to Kitchener you will not have to pick up your bag or go through security again. Both of your flights will be in Terminal 3. You clear Canadian immigration in Kitchener. Your bag will be checked straight through.

I will be arriving on a Sunday at 7pm. How long should I expect to wait until immigration is cleared?

probably won't be too bad - most of the big widebody flights from Europe and Asia get in earlier than that, so it will just be the flights from Mexico and the Caribbean.

Terrible lounge. Very depressing, outdated, and weakly stocked.

  • American to Alaska Airlines
    Feb 28, 2013

I am flying from Flint, Michigan so they're usually smaller airplanes with American Airlines, then switching to Alaska Airlines to go to Seattle, Washington. I have 55 minutes to get to my connecting flight to Seattle via Alaska Airlines. I see they're both in Term 3, is that the case? So I should have enough time to get from point A to B and not have to re go through security? Originally I was under the impression I was switching terminals until I looked at which terminals are with what airlines. Thanks.

At ORD you arrive & depart from T3, which has Concourses G, H, K & L with corresponding gates. Look at overhead screens on arrival to find your flight number and gate, then follow signs. You have sufficient transfer time.

Yes, actually both of your flights will be within Concourse L so it will be an easy connection.

  • TERMINAL CHANGE

I am flying into Terminal 1 on United and departing from Terminal 2 on US Airways, must I go through security again? Also how long of a walk between the 2 terminals.

At ORD you have a choice of walking or taking the ATS train, both options, however, require you to go through security check. A pedestrian tunnel connects T1 to T2; the ATS train departs on the upper levels.

That advice is 100% incorrect. You can walk from T1 to T2 without having to go through security again. There is no "Tunnel" - it's just a regular walkway connecting the terminals

thanks for reply, but I received to replys one says yes to security and yours no? confused?

I did not include the third option, thinking it may be too complicated: On thsecured upper level departure, right after you walk from T2's gate F8 past gate F1, at right end a connector to Terminal 1, where you will arrive again in the secured area, and where you should proceed to B or C gates (at gate B6, walk past gate B8 (at right), take walkway to C gates, turn left to gate C15.)

I have walked from T1 to T2 without going through security dozens of times, The walkway leaves T1 near the Low B gates (around gate B4-B5). Trust me on this one. wefeb is wrong.

  • transfer of Baggage & natureof checkings

I am proceeding From Memphis to Hyderabad on 1st Mar By 6-00 am.byAmerican eagle airlines arrivng in T3..I have to board Air India flight No AI 0126 in T5. Wiil you please clear me about my baggage transfer to air india flight. In myonward Journy to Memphis the baggage checked in Hyderabad ia delivered at Baggage claim at Memphis. Is this same practice wiil fallow in my return Journy to Hyderabad. At Delhi Layover time is hardly 1.5 Hours. Is it sufficent to re board the plane. Finally pl answer what checkings i have to clear at Chcago and Delhi. Please reply. Thanking you. gopalakrishna

If you bought your tickets on one reservation then American will transfer your bag to Air India. Make sure the bag is checked through to HYD when you check it in Memphis. You just have to get yourself from T3 to T5 in ORD via the ATS train, make sure you have your Air India boarding pass, and then go through security. On the return to Chicago, you will go through US immigration in Terminal 5, then re-check the bag with American and then take the ATS train to T3 and go through security there.

  • Quick Visit

I am flying though O'Hare with about 3 hours layover. Trying to do a quick visit and meal with a family member; what are the options outside of security?

Open www.ifly.com/ord, then click on "ORD Airport Services" under QUICK LINKS & choose "Restaurants & Stores"

I tried that, terminal 3 restaurants all say after security. It will be difficult for me to have a meal with a family that lives in Chicago I guess we can just sit somewhere and talk

I fly into O'Hare on Spirit and then fly out on American Eagle. I have to collect baggage and re-ticket, will I be able to get to American ticket counter from baggage claim area?

All you have to do is go up the escalator from the baggage claim level to the ticketing level of Terminal 3.

  • Baggage Change from United to Express?
    Feb 24, 2013

We will arrive in Terminal 1 on United with 1 hr 46 min to switch to Terminal 2 for a United Express flight. Do we need to do anything with our baggage because of the switch and if so, how does that work and will we have enough time?

As both flights are United flights you won't have to worry about your bags. On arrival at ORD, jst follow signs to the ATS train, which runs every few minutes between the terminals. Terminal 2 has Concourses E & F with corresponding gates. The screens above will show you flight & gate numbers.

That is incorrect - Do NOT take the ATS between T1 and T2. You can easily walk between the two. Taking the ATS will mean you will have to go through security again, which isn't necessary if you walk. You have plenty of time.

I have a 46 min layover and the flight lands at Terminal 2. Departing flight departs from Terminal 3, no info on the gates yet. Is this enough time and how far apart are terminals 2 & 3?

On arrival at ORD, at Terminal 2, you can take the ATS shuttle train, which runs every few minutes between Terminal 5 and domestic terminals 1, 2 & 3; however, you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. Note that T3 has four concourses - G, H, K & L - all with corresponding gates. 46 mins. is very tight.

DO NOT take the ATS train, you will have to go through security again if you do. You can instead simply walk from T2 to T3 beyond security. However, a T2 to T3 connection is very rare, considering that T2 is United Express, Air Canada, Delta, and US Airways, while T3 is American, Virgin America, JetBlue, WestJet, Air Choice One, and Spirit. Are you sure you need to connect from T2 to T3?

Sorry I was wrong, it is a T2 to T1 connection. The airliner is United and I'm arriving from GRR and departing to SFO. You recommend to walk still and again will this be enough time?

Yes. It is very easy to walk between T2 and T1. Also some GRR united express flights use terminal 1.

  • How long to clear immigration?
    Feb 22, 2013

How long does it take at O"Hare from the time a plane lands (from Manchester) to clear immigration and walk out the arrival door?

It depends on what runway you land on and how soon you're able to get off the aircraft, but usually somewhere between 20-50 minutes with I'd say about 35-40 being normal.

  • 40 MINUTE LAY OVER, IS THERE ENOUGH TIME

we are arriving at ohare on Flight:UA5322 from fort wayne indiana, we then need to connect to Flight: UA938 to london england....we have 40 minuites, can we make it ??

It's possible but barely. Run. It will take 15 to 20 minutes to get from concourse F where your FWA flight will probably arrive into and Concourse C where most London flights depart from.
