  • risky connection?

I will be arriving to ORD at 11:35 and my connecting flight is at 12:20. I do have to change terminals (terminals 1 and 2). I just got the confirmation and for the first time it says "risky connection". Is this doable or should I look for another flight? Also, if I take the transit system between terminals, do I have to go through security again???

I am flying united but the arrival and departure are in different terminals.

That's doable. All you have to do is walk. Do not take the ATS Train. The walkway connects them inside security.

Will I be really rushed or fine as long as I don't dawdle? I will have a 7 and 10 year old with me. Just trying to figure out if I should consider another flight :)

If the flight is on-time you will be OK without rushing. If it's a little late or you're at the back of the plane you may have to rush a bit.

I am flying from DFW (Dallas FW) on to ORD (arriving at terminal 3) and then have a connection from ORD to DOH (from terminal 5). How much time is sufficient to catch the flight?

Will the two tickets be purchased on the same reservation or two separate reservations? If everything is on the same reservation 60 minutes is doable with 90 minutes comfortable with two separate reservations I'd want 3 hours.

Hi, we're flying from London Heathrow to Chicago with a 1hr 30 min layover between the connection to fly from Chicago to Denver international. Will this be enough time to get there and do everything we need to do?

That is barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi! Was the layover time enough? Did you get in time to the gate for the flight to Denver?

My flight is scheduled to land at ORD from CDG at 2:10pm. My flight from ORD to DFW is at 5:45pm. I have one checked bag but did Mobile Pass for my customs declaration but no expedited entry. Will I make it in time?

I am flying ANA arriving 8:40 connecting to DL at 11:00. Should this be enough time? I have Global Entry and Pre Check as well. Do I? Arrive Terminal 5 clear customs and collect baggage then train to Terminal 2 and check baggage with DL and clear security.

With global entry and pre-check you might have a chance but it's very very difficult.

  • MSP > ORD > PTY 1hr 25min enough time?
    Nov 14, 2016

I am considering booking separate reservations from MSP to ORD, American Airlines landing at 6:35am Saturday Feb 11 with another flight ORD to PTY on COPA leaving at 8:00am Saturday (1hr 25min in between). Assuming I only bring a carry on, will this allow enough time to make the flight to PTY? Would it be possible to check a bag and have enough time?

With only a carry-on you barely have enough time. With checked bags that is not enough time.

Thank you for the quick reply! After landing in ORD (with only carry on) will I have to go through security to get on the flight to PTY, or would I simply go from arrival to departure gate?

Yes, you will have to take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security again. That's what makes it difficult.

Hello, On Christmas day, I am supposed to fly from Vancouver (YVR) to Chicago (ORD) on United 8179 operated by AIR CANADA. I think this will land in Terminal 2 at 7:59PM. 51 minutes later, I am supposed to catch United 845 in Terminal 1 to Sao Paulo at 8:50PM. What is the longest it could take to walk between terminals? Also, I assume my checked in luggage will automatically move to the next plane, but please let me know.

Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver and all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, maybe 15 minutes if you are exceptionally slow.

Thanks. Do I need to worry about my luggage making the connection or is that pretty streamlined these days? I would hate for my luggage to miss the connection.

Luggage shouldn't be an issue if the flight from Vancouver is on-time.

I am travelling from DTW expected to arrive in ORD on AA 3571 in Terminal 3. I have a connection flight 3 1/2 hours later from Terminal 5 Flight EK 236. My question Can i check in my luggage all the way through to my final destination Travel distance between Terminal 3 & Terminal 5 via ATS

No, you will have to claim your bags in T3 and take them on the ATS Train to T5 to re-check them with Emirates and go through security. You should have enough time.

We are flying from Kansas City to ORD on American Airlines and our connecting flight from ORD to Cancun. Our KC to ORD is landing at 7:40 am and departing ORD to Cancun at 8:25 am. Is it possible to make this flight?

Yes, that is enough time if the second flight is also on American. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 45 minutes enough time for a layover?

Hi, I have connecting flights from ottawa-montreal-chicago-hk-singapore and the layover in o'hare is 45 minutes. The flight from montreal is on air canada and then on united to hk. If i am checking a bag, would i need to pick up my checked bag to transfer terminals?

No, you do not have to pick up your checked bag in Chicago. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal and there is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. you have enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • Will my checked bag make the flight

I have a 1 hour layover at ORD and I'm flying on to Mexico. I'm not worried about making the connecting flight but do you think my checked bag will make it. Is 1 hour enough time for my bag to make it onto the connecting flight to Mexico.

Where are you flying into ORD from? What airlines are you flying?

  • Concourse C to concourse F walk time

Midweek, early morning connection between concourse C and concourse F with 44 minutes between scheduled arrival (5:20am) and departure (6:04am). Is this enough time to walk between the concourses?

Yes, that is enough time. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, especially with the fairly empty terminal that early in the morning.

Also, you won't know your exact gates until the day of your flight.

Hi! We have flight at 5:15am tomorrow and we need to see an agent to get boarding pass because they need to scan our passport. Will we have enough time to get through id check and security? I was told they don't open until 4am?!

    What airline are you flying?

    Spirit

You should have enough time as long as you are there waiting when the counter opens at 4.
