  • 1 hr connection time - enough?

We will be arriving on American Eagle flight from Madison, WI with 1 hr connection to American flight to London Heathrow. I've been tracking these flights and they both are in Terminal 3. Will we have enough time to make this flight? I'm assuming we don't have to go thru security like other international flights leaving terminal 5.

American Eagle uses Terminal 3 ; American Airlines uses T3 for all domestic flights & international departures (and T5 for international arrivals). You arrive at and depart from T3. Your bags will automatically be transferred to your departing flight. On arrival follow signs to your connecting Concourse & gate: G1A-G21 or G13-G15 (on lower level); H1-H18; K1-K20 or L1-L10. Your boarding pass and the overhead screens will indicate flight & gate numbers. You have sufficient time.

1 Hour is enough time to make the connection as it's a very simple one all within Terminal 3.

Where should I park to meet my handicapped father when he comes into Terminal 2

At ORD park in the Main Parking Garage (Lot A) - hourly parking under 3 hrs are on level 1. If your father did not order wheelchair assistance on arrival at ORD, I suggest you go to the airline counter (your father arrives with) and request a 'non-flying boarding pass' and wheelchair, so you can meet your father at the gate.

I need to meet someone who will be driving up to the airport, and would like to not have to walk far. I have scheduled a wheel chair because I am handicapped but where do they meet me when they come?

Best place to meet is near the information counter in the arrivals area. You can park in the Gargage (Lot A) on level 1 (hourly parking). Or you could use the free Cell Phone Lot located at Economy Parking Lot F. (Exit I-190 at North Mannheim Road and follow the signs to Economy Parking F/Cell Phone Lot). Stay with your car until your party has arrived, collected luggage and calls you to be picked up at the curb.

If you are traveling to London, Ontario, Canada where do you go through Customs? In London, Ontario or before you leave the US?

At ORD, departing passengers do not go through customs.

Yes, the YXU-ORD flights arrive in Terminal 5 (the international terminal) where you clear customs. YXU does not have US immigration preclearance as many larger Canadian airports do.

On flights from Chicago to YXU, you will depart from Terminal 2 (check in in Terminal 1) and go through Canadian customs in London, Ontario.

  • 40 min layover to con with dfw flight

    is this enough time

That depends on which terminal you arrive at, if you are an international arrival, and which terminal you depart from (depending on airlines) I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ord, click on "Terminal Map" under QUICK LINKS, and scroll down beyond the map to the detailed text. International arrivals need at least 35-50 mins for customs clearance, etc.

  • Terminal 2 to Terminal 1, 55 min layover
    Dec 30, 2012

Hello, I was hoping to get any advice about my 55 minute layover between a flight arriving from Canada into terminal 2, and then an international departure (to Paris) 55 minutes later from terminal 1. Is this enough time? And what is the quickest (and easiest!) way to get there? Thank you!

I presume you are going through US customs clearance in Canada. If you use two different airlines, make sure the one departing from Canada transfers your bags to your Paris connection. If not, you need to pick up your bag and re-check it in with your next airline. On arrival, look for the ATS train sign connecting all terminals. The rain runs every few mins. You have enough time.

You do not have to take the ATS from terminal 2 to Terminal 1. Just follow the signs and walk. It takes like 10 minutes at most.

  • Parking to International Terminal

Which terminal is the International. What's the easiest way to get from Parking to International terminal?

The International Terminal at ORD is Terminal 5 with a long Concourse M which wraps around the concessions Court; it has to the left (gates M12-M21) and to the right (gates M7-M1), and extends northward in the center to gates M8-M11 (prepare yourself for long walks from check-in to gates). Parking is across from the terminal. For other parking options open www.ifly.com/ord and click on Parking under QUICK LINKS, then scroll down to details.

quickest way to get from terminal 1 to terminal b

I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ord then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

There is no "terminal b". Concourse B is part of terminal 1.

  • rechecking baggages

We flying from minneapolis MN (Us airway)to Chicago then connecting flight(turkish airline) to Istanbul and then from Istanbul to addis ababa so do we pick up our luggage and re-check or does our luggage go directly to our Istanbul flight or to the last destination which is addis ababa. We have 1:30 hours between flights.

You arrive via US Airways at Terminal 2 and need to transfer to your departing flight via Turkish Airlines at Terminal 1. You need to contact US Airways to find out if they transfer your bags; if not, you will need to claim your bags first at the arrivals level and from there take the pedestrian tunnel to T1, go up to departure level and check them in with Turkish; then proceed through security check & on to your connecting gate. If no bag transfer is needed, proceed to Terminal 1 the following way: the secured area, which is the upper level (Departures) has, right after you walk from gate F8 past gate F1, at right end a connector to Terminal 1 (with B & C gates), where you will arrive again in the secured area, and where you should proceed to nearby gate B6, walk past gate B8 (at right), take walkway to C gates, turn left to gate C15.

Sadec, please stop giving wrong advice. US Airways does not fly from Minneapolis to Chicago. Your flight will probably be operated by United or United Express and arrive at terminal 1 or 2. United will be able to check your bags through to Turkish if all your flights were booked on the same reservation. The bags will be checked through to Addis Ababa but you will have to claim and recheck in Istanbul. 1:30 is a tight connection from Terminal 1/2 to Terminal 5 (where your Turkish flight will depart from) at ORD. Hope that your flight is on time. Please disregard sadec's "advice" as it is completely wrong. You will need to take the ATS train from Terminal 1/2 to Terminal 5.

  • will 85 minutes be enough

I will arrive at terminal 5 with British airways at 6..45 pm and depart from terminal 3 with American airlines at 8.10 pm. Will there be enough time? Do I have to pick up my lugage at terminal 5? Can I check it in at terminal 5 or do I have to do that at terminal 3. Do I have to go to AA check in disk at terminal 3? Do I have to go security at terminal 3? What hapens if I miss my flight?

    1. Find out from British if they will transfer your bags to your American flight. If not, you need, after customs clearance, take your bag and check it in at T3's AA counter at the departures level. 2. Upon arrival at O'Hare Airport, at T5, you need to go through passport check, pick up bags and go through customs clearance. After exiting the Federal Inspection and luggage re-check areas, proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS train, running every few mins) where you can easily connect to T3 for domestic flights. 3. Either way you need to go through security check at T3, before proceeding to your gate. T3 has Concourses (with corresponding gates) G, H, K & L - American most likely uses gates L1-10.

British Airways will check your bag through to American as long as you bought your tickets on the same reservation. You will drop your bags with American in the basement of T5 and then go upstairs and take the ATS train to Terminal 3. American uses almost all gates in T3, not just L as sadec suggests.

  • Security going from T1-T5
    Dec 15, 2012

Quick question, I have to make the change from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5 in 2.5 hours. I know about taking the ATS from T1 to T5, but once I get to T5, do I have to go through security again or am I already still "on the other side" so to speak having gone through it at my previous airport? Thank you so much!

Yes, you have to go through security again, the ATS runs near the curbside in the "non-sterile" part of the terminal.

    Thanks, ZAP!

I have a friend with a layover tomorrow evening; we want to meet up at the Hilton sports bar. He is arriving in terminal 3 and i'm coming from the CTA blue line. Can anyone help with directions so we don't waste time being lost? :)

The Hilton is within walking distance of domestic terminals T1, 2 & 3. For more information open http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/illinois/hilton-chicago-ohare-airport-CHIOHHH/index.html

  • Terminal 5 (International) to Terminal 3
    Dec 7, 2012

My parents are arriving via Iberia on Terminal 5 and Fly out on Domestic American Airlines (Terminal 3). Is the place where they retrieve the bags before Immigrations/Customs easy to find/close to Immigrations/same floor? Once done with Customs, where do they drop the bags for the next domestic flight and is it true that they can't drop them as they are not same airline (I am under the impression bags fly to final destination). I understand they need to go one floor up and get a shuttle to get to Terminal 3? Do they arriveat the correct floor for departures on Terminal 3? Do they go through Secutity check? Thanks!

    1. You need to find out from Iberia whether they will transfer bags to the American Airline connecting flight - not all airlines do - in which case your parents would need, after customs clearance, take their bags along to Terminal 3, and check them in at the Departures level at the AA counter. On arrival at ORD, follow other passengers as they need to go through passport check, pick up bags & go through customs clearance and (if Iberia transfers bag) - re-check-in bags where indicated. 2. After exiting the Federal Inspection and luggage re-check areas, proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System and take the ATS shuttle train connecting to Terminal 3. At T3 they may have to go through security check before proceeding, on the Departures level, to their Concourse & gate. Concourses G,H,K&L surround the Rotunda - most likely American will use Concourse L with gates L1-10.

Iberia should check your bags through on the American flight assuming they were bought on the same reservation since Iberia and American are codeshare partners in OneWorld. They should be able to drop their bags after collection and customs in T5 for their AA flight, so they'll just have to take the ATS from T5 to T3 which is just one stop. Yes, they will have to go through security again in T3. The ATS stop is on the departure level, but you have to go up and over the access road, to get to the actual departure level. Regardless, the departure level is easy to find from the T3 ATS stop.

  • Connection time
    Nov 29, 2012

Hi there, I'm arriving from ORF (norfolk) and have a connecting flight to make on United from ORD to YVR (Vancouver Canada) and only have 1 hr 35 min to make the connection. Will that be enough time?

At ORD, United uses Terminals 1, 2 & 5 (T5 is for United international arrivals only). T1 has Concourse B with gates B1-22 & C with gates C1-32; T2 has Concourse E with gates E1A-15 and Concourse F with gates F1-14 & n its lower level gates F11A, B & C. The ATS shuttle train runs every few minutes between Terminal 5's and domestic terminals 1, 2 & 3. Look on arrival at overhead screen to find your connecting flight & gate number. You have enough time. Alternatively to get from T2 to T1: Note that all gate areas of all terminals are not connected, but the secured area, which is the upper level (Departures) has, right after you walk from gate F8 past gate F1, at right end a connector to Terminal 1, where you will arrive again in the secured area, and where you should proceed to nearby gate B6, walk past gate B8 (at right), take walkway to C gates, turn left to gate C15.

thnov, please stop leaving boilerplate responses - they aren't helpful. You can walk between your ORF flight and YVR flight without having to go through security. You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1. They are connected. Worst case walk time is about 20 minutes, so 1hr 35 minutes is plenty of time.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful answer :)
